Bonnie awoke to the smell of bacon frying and coffee perking. She stretched lazily and opened her eyes. She was alone. At first she was nervous, but then she heard everyone downstairs laughing. Since she had a moment alone, she was able to contemplate the events of last night.
Klaus loved her! She felt treasured and complete. It was a wonderful feeling.
I am so happy that I waited until I found someone that I loved, she thought to herself and smiled.
Padding barefoot down the stairs, she entered the kitchen and found all the gang sitting around the table while Klaus was busy making bacon and pancakes for her.
He turned around when he heard her enter the room and held out his arms for her to come to him. She went to him and hid her face in his arms. She was embarrassed to say the least. After flipping the breaker box and bursting the light bulbs in the house, how could she face any one of them? Especially Damon. She was sure that he was going to have some snarky remark.
Curiously, no-one said anything to her and she stepped out of Klaus's grasp.
"Yum," she stated and her stomach growled.
"I figured you would be hungry, love."
"I'm famished," she replied.
She grabbed a plate from the kitchen cabinet and placed it on the table. She had her head in the refrigerator when she heard a collective gasp from the group and she turned sharply around with the juice bottle in her hand.
When she saw who was in the kitchen, the juice bottle dropped to the floor, splashing its contents on her legs.
Katherine stood there with her arms crossed and a smirk on her lips.
"I've come bearing news," she declared.
No-one said anything. All eyes were glued to Katherine's. Finally, Damon said, "I heard you were in New Orleans with Elijah, what the hell are you doing here?"
"Where is my brother, anyway?" Klaus questioned.
Katherine smiled, clearly she was enjoying the attention. She looked at her immaculately manicured nails. When she realized no-one was going to question her further, she frowned just a little.
"Fine, if you don't want my little piece of news, I'll just be on my way." She made a motion as if to leave.
Damon stood up from the table. "Just tell us what the fuck you came here to say and go away."
Katherine huffed, "You don't have to be so vile about it."
Damon just smirked at her.
As Katherine was standing there, Elijah entered the kitchen and wrapped his arms around her.
"Don't tease them; give them the good news."
Katherine gave him a quick kiss on the lips and beamed up at him. Clearly she was smitten with him.
When she turned around, she looked at everyone for a moment and her eyes finally fell on Klaus's. "You don't have to run anymore."
Klaus looked at her perplexed, "What do you mean?"
"What she means, dear brother, is Silas is dead." Elijah answered.
"What, how – what happened?"
Elijah poured himself a cup of coffee and took a sit at the table before answering.
"We found him in New Orleans; he was asking questions about where to find you." Elijah went on. "You know, you really pissed him off by hiring that witch you found in The Quarter to hide Bonnie from him."
Bonnie looked at Klaus – her mouth was hanging open. "What does he mean, Klaus?"
Klaus stood there for a moment and declared: "Bonnie, I have felt drawn to you for some time now. A month before I came to live here, I heard that Silas was looking for a Bennett witch to help him destroy the Other Side. He needed to sacrifice you to destroy the Other Side and I couldn't let him do that to you. It would have killed me. I guess I knew even then that I loved you."
Bonnie was dumbfounded. She couldn't say anything. How close did she come to being killed?
Klaus went on. "So, I found a witch that owed me a favor in New Orleans and she agreed to do a spell to hide your whereabouts from Silas."
Bonnie emerald eyes teared up. "Oh my god, Klaus …" She couldn't continue. Words couldn't describe what she was feeling. Klaus just went over to her and wrapped his arms around her. He kissed the top of her head and whispered, "I love you Bonnie Bennett."

Six whole months had passed since that morning in the kitchen. Katherine and Elijah had explained that a coven of 12 witches had gathered together during a solar eclipse and they were able to draw enough power to take down Silas for good.
It was now early spring. The late evening sun shown down upon the boarding house, bathing it in a sea of crimson and scarlet. The whole gang had no enemies now. It was a curious feeling to not have to plot or scheme just to stay alive.

Everyone had gathered in the parlor. A bottle of Kentucky Bourbon was in Elena's hands and they were playing "Never Have I Ever". It was Damon's turn.
"Never have I ever….almost choked to death on a banana!" And, everyone laughed. All except Bonnie who promptly went over and punched Damon in the shoulder.
"Asshole" she retorted. And she started to giggle
The end….
