A/N: So here is my first story in the Glee fandom. It's a Klaine Battle of Hogwarts AU based on a fanart by Magicalplaylist on tumblr (magicalplaylist. tumblr. post/46209870955/blaineyandersons-replied-to-your- post-im-in-the) just remove the spaces and add com. I plan on this being the home of any other glee short stories based on fanart, gif sets or whatever inspires me from tumblr. And I don't have a bata for glee stories so if there are any mistakes just let me know and I'll fix them!

Part of Kurt wondered why the hell he'd chosen to stay.

He didn't care about the fight, or who won. Sure, he didn't want to be some slave for lord Snake-Face, but he honestly couldn't give two shits about Boy-Who-Sticks-His-Nose-Into-Other-Peoples-Agendas either.

Yet here he was, casting spell after spell, curse after curse, watching his fellow students fall, when he'd rather be anywhere but here. Call him cowardly or what have you, but he was a Slytherin not a damn Gryffindor. He didn't have dreams of dieing in battle or for a noble cause, his dreams didn't involve bloodstains or battle wounds or scars.

But his dreams did involve one of those people. A curly haired, courageous to a fault, stupidly brave, spaztastic, no idea of the meaning of self-preservation, Gryffindor.

And because of that, the rest of him knew exactly why he stayed.

He felt his heart drop to his stomach as a scream pitched through the air. Even with the noises of battle – the cries, the other screams, the yells – he'd know that voice anywhere.

"Serpensortia!" He cried, waving his wand towards the Death Eater he was fighting. He didn't wait to see the snakes attack, only turned and started running down the corridor to his left, the screams of his opponent following him.

He barely noticed the snake that stayed with him moving up his arm to wrap around his shoulders, his only thought focused on finding his reason for staying; his reason worth fighting for.

Turning down another corridor, he felt his breath freeze in his lungs. Fear clouded his mind, despair cling to his memories.

His mother dieing. His father's heart attack. Bullies. Karofsky. Blaine falling off his broom during a quidditch match. Blaine botching a potion and it exploding. Blaine getting a detention with Umbridge. Blaine screaming. . .

"Blaine!" Kurt snapped his eyes open, not even aware that he'd closed them, nor that he'd fallen to his knees. Surveying the scene around him, he felt the previous despair flickering into his mind at the sight that lay before him: Blaine on the ground unconscious – Kurt refused to think he was anything other than unconscious – with a Dementor slowing advancing on him. The snake around his neck shifted, brushing against the snake brooch Blaine gave him for their anniversary, and tightened itself enough to jolt Kurt into motion.

"Expecto Patronum!" He was on his feet in seconds with his wand waving and every happy thought he could bring to mind as he rushed to place himself between Blaine and the Dementor.

He could care less who won this war. But he'd fight tooth and nail for whatever cause Blaine stood for, as long as it meant they'd stay together.
