Carlisle's POV

Isabella and I were stunned at Dr. Vivírez's revelation. Neither of us could think of a thing to say.

Had it not been for the ultrasound, I would never have believed him. However, as I gaped at the screen, I could not deny it.

Isabella was pregnant. She was going to bear my child...our child...our daughter.

My mind was reeling. I couldn't fathom how this was possible. Ever since I had became an immortal, I had been under the impression that vampires didn't have the ability to conceive. Now that I knew that this theory was false, it raised more questions than answers.

What were we going to do? How long would it take for our daughter to be born? If she was already the equivalent of two months, it would be a short time before she was. There was no way we could hide it if we remained at the hotel. The people who have seen us already would notice.

And most importantly, how would Isabella's pregnancy affect her? Would it be safe for her, or would we have to find a way to keep our baby alive if it wasn't? That is, if we chose to go through with it?

We would have to factor in her parents and stepfather if this was to be so. Isabella would have to keep this from them since they knew nothing of vampires. In fact, it would likely be years before we could even mention that we had a daughter together. None of them knew about our relationship besides. Of course, they would find out about it much sooner than they would learn about their granddaughter. Still, that was a topic for another day.

Esme and my children would be fine with it, I knew. They would all want to help us as much as they possibly could. There would be a lot of work for us to do, but hopefully, everything would turn out fine.

Plus, we would have to find out if a situation like this had ever happened before, a human woman conceiving a baby by a vampire.

I sighed as I rubbed one of my temples. It was all so much to take in.

Dr. Vivírez cleared his throat, bringing me back to the present. "Er...are you two all right?" he queried as he eyed us with concern.

"...Yes. Could you excuse us for a few minutes, though, please? I need to have a private talk with Isabella," I remarked.

", claro. Let me know if you need anything."

We nodded.

He cleaned away the gel from Isabella's stomach before turning the ultrasound off and leaving the room.

She reached out for me once he had closed the door. I took her hand in mine and kissed it.

"Carlisle...I don't understand...I thought that..." she whispered dazedly, in case Dr. Vivírez was able to hear us.

"Yes, sweetheart, I know. I didn't believe that it was possible either," I murmured.

Worry and uncertainty filled her expression as she bit her lip. "What are we going to do? I can't tell Mom, Charlie, or Phil about this. They don't even know that we're together!" she pointed out, voicing the exact same thoughts I had minutes before.

I exhaled deeply a second time. "I know. However, we will reveal that we are when the time is right. As to what we will do, that depends on what you feel is the best course of action to take. Important decisions will have to be made either way.

"If you choose to have our daughter, I will do everything I can to make sure that you are both safe during the pregnancy. We do not know how it will affect you since I have no knowledge of a case like this ever happening. Nor do we know if you will be physically able to carry her as it continues. If you are not, I know of a way to keep her alive. However, if you feel that it's best not to, then..."

She waved her hand before I could finish my statement. "No, Carlisle! I can't do that. I would never have an abortion unless it was strictly necessary to. But what is your opinion? She's your daughter as well as mine. You should have a say so, too."

With a tiny grin, I pecked her on the lips. "Honestly, I will admit that having a child biologically fills me with as much happiness as it did when I adopted Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper. Having children was what I had desired-along with getting married-before I was changed into an immortal. After I was, I never believed that I would have the opportunity to.

"That being said, I will have to constantly monitor you for the duration of your pregnancy. Should anything untoward occur, I want to be able to act accordingly before it's too late. The last thing I want is to lose you or our daughter."

Isabella leaned against me. "Okay, and I understand. I don't want to lose our baby either. I...I love her already."

"I see that, my dear. And so do I."

This would have sounded odd to other people if they had heard us, but it was true. We honestly did love her.

We were quiet for a bit, then she inquired, "Babe? Do you think that we'll need to leave Cancún?"

I nodded after mulling her question over. "Yes. If you are already the equivalent of two months, you are likely having an accelerated pregnancy. Those who have seen us at La Rosa Roja will notice that something is strange the longer we stay there. The others can remain here if they like, but you and I will have to return to Forks within a day or two. We cannot tell your parents or stepfather that we are back until we figure everything out."

She bowed her head. "Okay, but it sucks that we have to leave already. I love it here, even though it didn't seem as if I did at times. Cancún is so beautiful."

"Don't be sad, love. We will come back one day."

"That's good. I would like that." She looked up. "I suppose we can tell Dr. Vivírez that he can come back in now, if he wants."

"Very well. And are you certain that this is what you want? I have no problem with it, but I just want you to do what you feel is best."

Isabella nodded. "Yes, I'm positive. This is what I want," she affirmed.

I caressed her cheek before opening the door. "Dr. Vivírez, we are done talking now if you would like to come back in," I declared.

"Ah! Thank you. Is everything all right?" he questioned worriedly.

With a smile, I replied, "Yes, we are fine, just greatly surprised. I never thought I could have children biologically; I was told that I was infertile and didn't have the ability to. That was why I chose adoption."

Dr. Vivírez beamed. I could see that he was very happy for me. "Well, congratulations, Dr. Cullen! You are a lucky man, and your baby is a miracle! I believe that I would be right to assume that you will continue the pregnancy, then, Srta. Bella?"

She grinned. "Yes, you would be."

"Excelente. I can tell that you will be wonderful parents. You are both good, kindhearted people."

After that, he spent the next twenty minutes explaining what Isabella needed to do in order to take care of herself and our daughter. He also gave her several documents that outlined everything he told her, including a list of foods to eat, and a prenatal vitamin she should take.

Once he was finished, he shook both of our hands. "Again, congratulations to you both. I know that you two are and will be very happy. I hope that your pregnancy goes well, Srta. Bella. Make sure that you look after yourself, and speak to your boyfriend if you need help, or if something is wrong," he admonished.

"Don't worry, I will," she said.

Dr. Vivírez then led us out to the reception area and wished us luck. Isabella and I thanked him before saying good-bye.

When we joined our family, I could tell from their expressions that they were just as astonished as we were. They also looked as if they didn't know to say. Nevertheless, they smiled a little as we approached them.

"Hi. Ready to go?" I asked. "We need to have a talk once we return to the hotel."

Everyone inclined their heads before following Isabella and I out of the hospital.

Bella's POV

My mind was swirling. In fact, I was so preoccupied that it only felt like seconds had gone by before Carlisle was parking in front of La Rosa Roja. I barely even noticed it as we headed upstairs with our family and entered our hotel room.

Once we were all sitting down, Carlisle began to pace back and forth as he gathered his thoughts. We remained quiet so as not to disturb him. I watched him vaguely, still feeling out of it.

He nodded to himself after a while and turned to face us. He looked serious and resolute.

"I know that you have heard me and Isabella discussing this at the hospital, but I will do so again. I am afraid that we will have to go back to Forks. Staying here until the end of our vacation is out of the question at the speed her pregnancy is going. People will quickly notice that something abnormal is happening.

"We will leave Cancún tomorrow or the day after. However, this does not mean that you have to join us. The rest of you can remain here if that is what you want. I know that you had wished to come here for a long time. Still, I will not have a problem with it if you do want to come back with us. I know that you may want to help me look after Isabella. But that will be your choice to make.

"When we return home, I will be monitoring her constantly. I want to be sure that she and our daughter will be safe for the duration of her pregnancy. If you choose to stay here, I will be informing you of everything that happens, especially if something untoward occurs.

"That being said, we will be getting ready to pack up soon, and I shall buy our plane tickets for the trip back to Forks. You can do the same if you are going to join us. As I said, that will be for each of you to decide. I will be fine with your choices either way," he concluded.

Esme rose her hand to interrupt him. "Carlisle, you already know that we are going to go back with you and Bella. As I told you earlier, I will help the both of you since she is pregnant," she remarked.

Alice bobbed her head. "Yes. You also know that she won't be the only one who will want to help. We do too. Besides, I think that I should be there to warn you if something horrible will occur before it does," she added.

"We are a family, and we need to stick together no matter what," Rosalie put in.

"None of us are gonna let you do this by yerselves," Jasper stated.

"This is as much of a surprise to us as it is to you two. However, we will help you find out if a pregnancy like this had ever happened before," Edward added.

Emmett beamed. "And just so you know, we're all very happy for you and Bella. You know that we will do everything we can to protect our sister before and after she's born, too. And you know we'll love her dearly. In fact, like you and Bella, we already do!"

"She's going to be so beautiful! I just know it, even if I haven't seen it yet!" Alice squealed.

The others smiled and nodded in agreement. They also congratulated us cheerfully.

Carlisle grinned back, and I did as well in spite of how shocked I still was.

"Thank you," he murmured. "Thank you so much. I am grateful to all of you."

I inclined my head. "So am I. Thank you."

Everyone embraced us, then prepared to go to their own hotel rooms.

"We'll be packing up and getting ready to leave soon, too. I can see that you want to be alone for now. Call if you need one of us," Alice said.

"Don't worry. I will," Carlisle assured her.

After they had left, I got up to stand in front of the window. However, I wasn't looking at anything in particular. My gaze was unseeing.

I felt Carlisle's hand on my shoulder a moment later. "Hey...are you all right?" he queried.

I nodded slowly. "Yes...I guess. I just...well, I don't know how I feel. Even though I've accepted the fact that I'm having a baby, a part of me still can't believe it. I still have no idea of how this was able to happen, and neither do you or the others," I replied in a daze. "That doesn't mean that I'm not happy about it, though. I am, I'm just...feeling so many other things all at once, too."

He turned me around to face him. "I understand completely, my dear. You are not the only one who is, either. But it will be all right. Everything will be."

I lifted his hand to place smooches on his fingers. "I know it will, babe; I have you."

Carlisle smiled and kissed me deeply. I moved my lips with his, kissing him back with just as much passion.

When he eventually moved away to let me regain my breath, he caressed my stomach gently. "I never thought that this day would come, me having a biological child. Never. You don't know how much it feels me with joy to know that I am," he whispered, his eyes moist.

He leaned over to kiss my baby bump afterwards. "Hello there, sweetheart. I am your daddy, and I love you so much. I can't wait to meet you; I know that the day you are born will be an exciting and wonderful day. Not just for me, but for your mommy and your family as well."

My own eyes filled with tears at the sight of him speaking to our daughter. It was so beautiful and endearing. "He's right, baby. And Mommy loves you too. You have no idea how much."

I suddenly felt her kick me. Carlisle obviously did too because we laughed at the same time. She must have liked hearing our voices, and I believed that she understood us in her own way.

Rubbing my baby bump affectionately, I asked, "Do you think we should we name her, or would you rather wait until later? You probably think it's too soon to do that right now."

"Yes, perhaps a little later. I have to come up with ideas first," he responded. "Do you have any?"

"Um...no...not right this second, but I know that we'll think of the perfect one soon."

We grew quiet, then, just savoring that wonderful moment. However, I eventually became tired again and wanted to rest. We laid on the bed and held each other close until it was time for me to have lunch.

Carlisle spent the remainder of the afternoon keeping an eye on me to make sure that I was okay. Thankfully, nothing bad happened, so I was fine. He also began to prepare for our trip back home. We were going to leave tomorrow night. He bought our airline tickets and packed away most of our things. He informed the hotel's receptionist of our impending departure as well. I helped him when I could, but he mostly wanted me to take it easy.

"Babe, should I tell Mom and Charlie that we are ending our vacation sooner than expected? Or should I wait until we get home to say anything?" I questioned when he hung up the phone, abruptly having thought of this.

"Let us wait until after we are home, my dear. One of us will speak to them after we are settled. We don't want to tell them anything that will make them panic or become too worried," he replied.

I nodded. "Okay. That's more than fair."

He laid down next to me again and kissed my temple. "Well, we have several hours of our vacation left. Is there anything special you would like to do, since this is our last evening here?"

"Ehn...not now. I want to rest a bit more. Why don't we head to the pool after I have dinner, though? That would be great. We can't go out since it's still raining, and we won't have to time to go anywhere tomorrow afternoon."

"Sure. That sounds fun. Anything else?"

I shook my head. "Not that I can think of at the moment."

"Very well, but let me know if you do."

"I will."

Carlisle's POV

The next hour and a half passed by without anything serious happening. Isabella and I remained in each other's arms while occasionally speaking to our daughter. She moved or kicked every time we did, making us laugh.

Isabella eventually became hungry around six o'clock. I ordered a rare steak with potatoes and vegetables when she asked me to, and we continued to talk as she ate her food. I made sure that she took her prenatal vitamin as well.

When her dinner had settled not long after, we changed into our bathing suits and went down to the pool. We found Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett were there, much to our surprise. They hadn't gone swimming with us here at any point during our vacation. Edward and Esme were with them too. Other residents of the hotel were here also. Some were relaxing on lounge chairs while a few were swimming in the pool.

"Hi Carlisle. Hi Bella," our family greeted us as we approached them.

Isabella waved as I said hello back. "Hey, guys. What's up?"

"Not much at the moment. We just got here a few minutes ago," Emmett replied.

"How are you feeling, Bella?" Rosalie asked next.

Isabella lowered herself into the pool after taking off her shorts and flip flops. "I was tired before dinner, but I have more energy right now."

Alice grinned as she rubbed her stomach lightly. "A part of me still can't believe that you're pregnant. It's going to take some getting used to," she whispered.

She chuckled. "I hear you. I felt the same way earlier, but I eventually came around."

"Oh, I know."

I grinned. She would know.

Alice jabbed me with a mock glare; she saw what I was thinking.

I just snickered and kissed her on the cheek. "I love you too, little one."

She huffed and splashed me as she swam away, causing me laugh even more.

"So," I began, keeping an eye on Isabella as she followed her. "What did all of you do after you left earlier?"

"Basically everything you did," Edward responded. "We booked our flights on the same plane as yours and started to pack up. None of us did much afterwards, however."

Esme drifted past. "Has there been any changes with Bella's pregnancy since we returned from the hospital?"

I shook my head. "Not really. The baby kicks and moves some of the time, but for now, everything is still the same."

"Ohhh, okay. Were you able to come up with names yet? Alice told us that you couldn't earlier."

"No, and I'm not certain if Isabella has either, but I know we will eventually."

"Mmm."

Emmett chortled. "I'm not surprised that she's having a baby anymore, now that I think about it. As much as you two have been doing the deed, it's no wonder she is."

Rosalie slapped the back of his head, looking disgusted.

"Owwwww, Rosie! What'd I say?"

"You know perfectly well what you said, mister!"

"And none of us needed ta hear it," Jasper added with a frown.

Isabella and Alice scowled at Emmett from the other side of the pool.

"Next time, keep any comments you have like that to yourself," I reprimanded.

"Please," Esme said, looking irritated.

"Sorry," Emmett mumbled, rubbing his head.

I shook my own. I honestly had no idea of what to do with him at times.

"Who are you telling?" Edward whispered so that I was the only one who heard him. I snorted.

After catching up with them a bit more, I swam over to where Isabella was. She was floating on her back with her eyes closed, practically glowing as she did. If only she knew how divine she was at that moment.

Once I was next to her, I told her so. She looked flattered as she smiled widely and blushed.

"Thank you, babe. And you're as handsome as always."

"Why, thank you," I said, my own face tingling.

Alice rolled her eyes at us with a giggle. "You two are mushier than Jasper and I."

"I could argue the point. Every time you two get started, I have the leave the vicinity."

"Hmph. Well, when you and Bella do, I need to run five miles away."

"If that's the case, I'm surprised you're still right here."

"...Hush."

Isabella and I laughed.

"What were you ladies doing just now?" I queried after we settled down.

They shook their heads.

"Not much, just swimming around. I wanted to talk to Bella about shopping for baby clothes and stuff, but she didn't feel like it," Alice replied.

"Oh, I see. Well, we will have plenty of time to discuss it in the near future. Let us make sure that her pregnancy will go smoothly first."

She exhaled deeply. "Fine. I'm just excited, that's all. And I don't have to tell you about how much I love shopping."

I rubbed her back. "I know, little one." Then I saw Isabella wince. "What's wrong, my dear?"

"Nothing. The baby just gave a particularly rough kick, that's all."

"She's been doing that quite a bit today. I can tell that she's going to be a lively one."

Isabella gave a loving chuckle as she patted her stomach. "Maybe. She'll be like her you and her grandmother if that's to be the case."

I quirked an eyebrow. "And you aren't lively?"

"Yeah, a part of the time. At others, I'm content with lying down and reading a book."

"That is too true. In any case, I don't want you to get too lively for the time being. I still prefer for you to take it easy."

She gave an exaggerated sigh, which made me laugh. "I know, Dr. Cullen. I know."

And thankfully, that was all she did for the next hour and a half. My family and I played volleyball for most of it while she watched. She would have chosen to do that even if she hadn't been pregnant, though, to avoid getting into a potential mishap. My team eventually lost to Jasper's, but only by a point.

Soon after the game, Isabella and I returned to our hotel suite. She was becoming tired again and wanted to turn in early. It was just as well; we were going to have a busy day tomorrow.

We were taking a shower together when I was abruptly greeted with the heady scent of her arousal. Isabella peered at me with a lustful, questioning gaze seconds later.

I nodded in response to it and kissed her pulse point and shoulder. "Yes, love, but we can't be too wild. Okay?" I murmured huskily.

"Mmmmm...that's fine. It wouldn't be a good idea for us to be, anyway."

"No."

After we had dried off, Isabella went to lay down while I turned down the lights. She was still getting comfortable when I joined her, so I waited until she was ready.

I took my time at first, simply admiring her as I kissed every inch of her beautiful body. It was as if she were glowing even in the semidarkness. Isabella ran her fingers through my hair, gasping and whimpering when I swirled my tongue around her nipples and clit. When I finally entered her moments later, we shared a moan as she threw her head back in pleasure.

Even though Isabella and I desired to be wild (as usual), we had to go for middle ground. I moved at a steady pace, thrusting gently enough not to harm her while still being somewhat rough. She enjoyed this as much as I did; I felt her nails digging into my shoulders as she held me close.

"Fuck, Carlisle...please...more," she groaned.

Pecking her on the lips, I carefully gave her what she desired and hitched her legs around my waist.

"Oh God, yes! Keep going...just like that," she breathed.

"As you wish, my love," I panted, kissing her again.

Several minutes later, I straightened up to position her on her knees. Isabella clutched the blanket as she fucked herself on me. I moaned as I tugged her hair with one hand while gripping her thigh with the other. I eventually began to meet her thrusts with my own, causing her to let out a small cry of pleasure.

"Yeeeesssss," she hissed.

It was not long before the pit of my stomach was tightening. Isabella's walls clenched around me, signaling that she was also about to cum. However, neither of us wanted it to end just yet.

I laid down and gently pulled her on top of me. The both of us moaned as she started to ride my cock.

"You feel so good," I whispered, reaching up to tweak her nipples.

She bit her lip with another groan before leaning down to kiss me. "So do you, babe."

I let her take charge then, seeing that she wanted to. She made sure not to bounce too hard as she continued to fuck me. After a while, I clutched her hips and began to thrust upwards as she slid down. She moaned over and over.

Our movements became erratic when we eventually drew close to the edge again. My moans turned into loud grunts, and hers into squeals. I brought one of my hands down to her swollen nub and circled it with my thumb.

"Fuck, Carlisle!...Yes!...I'm...I'm...I'm about to..." she whimpered. Then her eyes rolled back into her head, and with a scream, she flew into her orgasm. I followed right after her with a yell of my own.

Isabella slumped onto me after we rode each other out, panting heavily as she caught her breath. I massaged her back and kissed her.

"That was awesome," she remarked quietly.

"Yes, it was," I agreed with a smile. "I hope I wasn't too rough with you."

She pecked me on the lips. "Don't worry, babe. You were perfect."

And with that, I continued to hold her until she dozed off. I laid her on the bed when she did and covered her up. Then I wrapped an arm around her, and she smiled before nuzzling me in her sleep.

XXX

It was busy the next morning and early afternoon. Most of our time was spent packing the remainder of our belongings and handling last-minute concerns.

I frequently monitored Isabella as well. Not only was her morning sickness persisting, but her abdomen was considerably rounder than it had been the previous evening, too. Thankfully, she had a large t-shirt that would hide it, but I would shield her in case it was necessary to. I didn't want anyone to notice that something unusual was happening.

At two o'clock, the room was tidy, and everything was ready for our journey back home. I ordered Isabella something for lunch and dinner, since I knew she would likely be hungry again before our flight. We talked as she ate, and she took her vitamin afterwards.

Pretty soon, it was nearly time for us to leave. I was just double-checking to make sure that everything was prepared when I heard Isabella sob. I turned to see her standing in front of the window with her face in her hands, crying in despair.

"What's wrong, sweetheart? Are you in pain? Does something feel wrong?" I queried.

"No," she replied with another sob, brushing away her tears. "I'm okay, physically. But I feel so sad. I don't want to leave so soon. I'm going to miss it here, and it might be a very long time before we're able to come back...if I'm changed any time this year," she concluded in a whisper.

I embraced her and stroked her hair. "I understand. It will be all right. As I said before, we will return someday."

She nodded as she hugged me back. "I know. And if it's safe, maybe we can bring our daughter here too. She would like Cancún."

"Yes, perhaps so."

It was finally time to go shortly after that. A bellhop came to take our luggage to the lobby as we went downstairs. My children were already there, standing by one of the desks. We greeted each other before checking out, and minutes later, we were putting our belongings in our rental cars.

The airport was somewhat crowded when we arrived there. Most of the people seemed to be coming in for vacation.

Since our tickets were already paid for, we took care of our luggage and headed for Gate 317. We sat down in the waiting room, where Edward and Esme joined us after five minutes.

None of us did much for the next couple of hours. Isabella, Edward, and I read a novel as the others talked amongst themselves or sat quietly. The former ate her dinner around five thirty and went to the bathroom. I kept an eye on her, noting with satisfaction that nothing serious happened.

Our flight eventually came in on schedule at 6:11. We picked up our carry-on bags and stood in line. My family and I were the only ones to do so; nobody else was going to Seattle.

We boarded the plane and sat down. The flight attendants announced the rules before requesting that we enjoy our trip. Then we put on the seat belts, and the plane started to move away from the terminal. After that, it turned onto the runway, increased its speed, and took off.

Isabella gazed out of the window and observed as the city diminished from view. I held her close when I saw her eyes fill with tears.

"Don't be too disappointed, love. Just try to imagine all of the fun we'll have once we come back," I murmured.

A tiny grin appeared on her face a minute later. "Yeah, I can see us having a lot of it, as long as our vacation is better next time." she said.

"I hope that it will be," I agreed.

On that note, Isabella leaned into me and watched the movie that had been put on. I did too as my thoughts strayed to the future and our daughter.
