Chapter 48
5 YEARS LATER
Orihime stood in a decent sized, cream colored room. There were many mirrors set up on the walls so that everybody could get ready for the day they had all been waiting for and planning for months. The girl stared at herself in one of the mirrors. She was in nothing but a laced white bra and matching underwear. Her long, orange locks were curled and in an up-do. Her appearance hadn't changed much in those five years, though she did grow a couple of inches. She admired her body and was proud of herself for losing a bit of weight before that day.
"Hey, Orihime, it's time to get dressed, let's go!" she heard Tatsuki call out to her. The girl looked at her best friend and recalled what she looked like in high school. Now, she had longer hair, though not as long as Orihime's, which she had curled for that day. She had also finally started maturing in other places. The girl wore a silk, pastel pink dress that reached the carpeted floor.
"Sorry, Tatsuki! I guess I was just zoning out again!"
"Oh gosh, that's terrifying considering you are a doctor and all. What would happen if you were doing an operation or something and you just started zoning out?"
Orihime stuck her tongue out at her best friend. She was glad Tatsuki could be there today. The two hadn't been able to see each other much while Orihime was in college, for Tatsuki was asked to join a professional wrestling team right after graduating high school. She knew she needed her friend there to help calm her nerves that day.
"Hey, Inoue, are you nervous?" Rukia asked, coming into the room. Though the girl had grown a bit, she was still a petite woman with small curves. She wore the same pink dress as Tatsuki and her black hair was put into a neat and elegant bun at the top of her head, her bangs were left down and were curled.
"I guess I am a little," she answered. "Were you this nervous?"
"Not nervous, more like embarrassed considering it was Ichigo."
The three girls laughed, reminding them of their days back in high school. Tatsuki then went to the closet to grab Orihime's dress. She was very careful with it and made sure not to step on it. The orange haired girl thanked her and quickly slipped into the dress, which Rukia then zipped up for her. Orihime's eyes watered as she looked at herself in the white dress. The gems, lace, and pearls were so stunning. The way it poofed out at her hips with tool made her look like a princess. Carefully wiping away the tears that came to her eyes, she made sure not to mess up her makeup.
"One last thing," Tatsuki said as she came up behind her. She then placed the sacred hairpiece into the right spot in Orihime's hair and let the long fabric fall behind her friend along with her dress. "You look absolutely beautiful, Orihime."
Orihime smiled at her friends and was feeling a rush of butterflies in her stomach. The moment she had been waiting for was getting closer and closer. Then, the door was thrown open as Mia walked into the room.
"Guys, we gotta go now!" the woman said. Mia's long, pastel hair matched her dress- the same as Tatsuki's and Rukia's. She then tossed a bouquet of pink roses to Orihime, which was nicely caught.
The girls then filed out of the room into a hallway to see Chizuru and Chiharu, who were also wearing the pink dress, waiting for them. Chizuru's red hair which was up in a bun like Rukia's clashed with the color of the dress, but she still looked beautiful. Chiharu let her curled hair flow behind her. The six girls all got lined up, Chizuru being in the front followed by Chiharu, then Mia, then Rukia, Tatsuki, and lastly Orihime. One by one the girls in pink dresses left the room, leaving Orihime to stand alone.
Finally, it was her turn to leave and go out to where everybody was waiting. Walking according the beat of the famous song, Orihime entered the huge room in the church and saw everybody looking at her, causing her face to get warm and blush. Then her eyes landed on the man she had been dying to see: Ulquiorra. He stood in a nice tux with a pastel pink tie, which didn't match his emerald eyes at all. To the left of him was Grimmjow, and continuing to the left in a line was Ichigo, Uryu, Sado, and Lyon.
Orihime's gray eyes moved back to Ulquiorra. The two made eye contact and she could see tears coming to his eyes as he watched her walking towards him ever so slowly. Most girls walk down the aisle with their fathers. In this girl's case, however, she walked with one hand holding a bouquet of flowers while the other held a picture frame, which contained a picture of her older brother, Sora.
Getting to the front row, Orihime placed his picture on one of the chairs. She then smiled at all of her school friends along with her friends from Soul Society. The church was packed with all of her guests. Yui and her other war companions sat near the front, crying as they watched Orihime take her place in front of Ulquiorra. Rangiku cried onto Momo's shoulder, who was nudging Toshiro as if to say, "When are you going to propose?"
Orihime stood in front of Ulquiorra, tears gathering in her gray eyes. She smiled gently at him, and received a gentle smile in return. Ulquiorra reached towards her with his pale hands and grabbed her warm hands. Neither broke eye contact with each other.
"Alright, let's get started, shall we?" Kisuke said, gathering everyone's attention. "Today, we are gathered here to celebrate the marriage of the lovely Miss Orihime and the somewhat lovely Ulquiorra Schiffer!" Ulquiorra glared at Urahara and decided after the honeymoon he would come back and dispose of him.
Kisuke went on saying more marriage stuff which Ulquiorra didn't pay attention to. Instead, Ulquiorra stared in awe at the girl in front of him. Her dress hugged her perfectly and was adorned with the right amount of sparkle and lace. Her curly hair was put behind her and he wanted nothing more than to comb his fingers through it. Finally it was time for the vows.
"Orihime," he started, feeling the lump in his throat throb as he tried not to cry any more than he already was, "since you came into my life, you have changed it from being one of endless despair to one full of color and hope. I wish to spend every minute with you. I promise to protect you, though I know fully well you are capable of taking care of yourself. I promise to be there for you in your times of need. I am deeply in love with you, Orihime, and I promise I will spend every day of my life bettering myself to be worthy of your love."
Orihime wiped the tears from her eyes and sniffled. At this point, she didn't care about her makeup. "Ulquiorra, before I met you, I was a weak girl who was always unsure of herself. Since I've met you, you have made me stronger and I am truly grateful for that. I promise to cherish you every day more than I already do and I promise to only make my peanut butter and wasabi sandwiches on Thursdays." Everyone in the room laughed and wiped away their tears. Orihime then continued, "I promise to protect you, just as you will protect me. I promise to help you grow and to give you all of me. I promise to spend every day for the rest of my life loving you with all of my heart."
Kisuke, who was currently bawling his eyes out, managed to ask Ulquiorra, "Ulquiorra, do you take Orihime to be your lawfully wedded wife in times of sickness and in-"
"Yes, I do. Hurry up."
The audience laughed and Kisuke went on to Orihime. "Orihime, do you take Ulquiorra to be your lawfully wedded husband-"
"I sure do!"
Urahara then sighed. "Alright, well Ulquiorra, you may now kiss the bride!"
Ulquiorra quickly pulled his now wife close to him and closed the gap between their lips. Their lips molded together with such perfection and was deepened when Orihime wrapped her arms around his neck. The crowd went wild, but neither of them seemed to notice. The two were now married. Pulling away from each other, Tatsuki, the maid of honor, placed her hand on Orihime's shoulder.
"C'mon love birds, it's time for the reception! You guys can do all that stuff later during the honeymoon!" she said.
Orihime giggled and replied, "Hey, you are going to be doing all of this lovey-dovey stuff with Grimmjow in a couple of months and I'm going to tell you the same thing!"
Ulquiorra then grabbed Orihime's hand and began to start dragging her out of the church and into a black limo that was waiting for them. The words "JUST MARRIED" were written on the back neatly in white paint.
In the car, Ulquiorra grabbed Orihime and kissed her one last time. "We are married."
The bride laughed and replied, "We sure are!"
As the two drove towards the reception, Ulquiorra's hand tightened around Orihime's. "I love you, Orihime Schiffer."
"And I love you, Ulquiorra Schiffer."
With that, the two drove off towards the reception, both excited for what their futures held for them. Five years ago, they were enemies in war. He was her captor, she his prisoner. Now, they were husband and wife. Orihime placed her hand on her stomach and felt the small bump as a smile rose to her face.
"I'll tell him about the soon-to-be baby tomorrow."
AN: I ended the story with Orihime and Ulquiorra getting married :) Also with her being pregnant, but nobody knows that yet! If you could tell from the beginning, Rukia and Ichigo already got married and Tatsuki and Grimmjow were engaged! Ulquiorra's groomsmen were Ichigo, Uryu, Sado, and Lyon while his best man was Grimmjow haha! Again, a HUGE thanks to everyone that has read this story! It took me years to finish but now it is finally done! THANK YOU FOR READING EVERYONE!
