So this is my first Vampire Diaries' fanfiction. English isn't my mothertongue, so please be nice ;)

Silas was more than pleased how the events had turned out after all.

It had been such an easy game with them so far. Those children were all so wrapped up in their little love affairs that they completely missed the greater pricture. They were so hooked on the illusion of love that none of them had questioned his real intentions.

They all believed without a second thought that he was craving for the cure to make himself mortal – to be reunited in death with his one true love.

Silas laughed.

There was no true love waiting for him in the afterlife and never been.

His heart had never been filled with an emotion even merely resembling love.

Not after that witch had told him once that true love was going to be his end. All his heart knew was hatred and his thirst for revenge.

Silas had never planned on taking the cure himself. But he needed the cure to complete his plans. And now the cure was his! He closed his eyes in silent triumph.

Only once he had feared for his scheme when the third massacre hadn't ended like he had intended. Silas had wanted Bonnie to kill the twelve witches and -after realising what she had done- to kill herself. But it hadn't worked out, because he had underestimated the young blonde vampire and her loyalty to her friend.

A cruel smile appeared on his face as he remembered the kisses the girl had shared with him just a few moments ago believing him to be her - oh so missed - boyfriend Tyler.

When a few weeks ago the werewolf girl Hayley had shown up looking for Silas he had known that the turn of events with Caroline killing the witches had been a blessing.

This Hayley had been to New Orleans and had heard of some rumour of Silas being more powerful than even a certain hybrid. And it had been a healthy instinct of self preservation to leave Klaus' protection and asking the stronger one for safety. From her he had heard about the little love-triangle that had developed between Klaus, Tyler and Caroline. And he had learned that Klaus had sworn he would kill Tyler the second he returned and that Caroline had never forgiven Klaus for that.

And Tyler Lockwood seemed to be more intelligent than all of his friends gave him credit for, because he never planned to return. Smart boy.

Unfortunately Silas needed Caroline to forgive Klaus.

So while he had given Elijah the impression, that the werewolf girl in front of him was the Mikaelsen-sibling Rebekah, he himself had very much enjoyed to impersonate the young Tyler Lookwood to make his girlfriend happy and more importantly to give Klaus the possibility to earn Caroline's forgiveness.

Such a beautiful girl this Caroline was and so caring and passionate. He could nearly understand why Niklaus Mikealsen was willing to die for her if she only reciprocated his feelings. And that was exactly the point. To make the strong hybrid die by choice Silas had to make sure, that Caroline Forbes fell in love with the hybrid as deeply as Klaus had already fallen for the girl. And tonight had been a huge step in the right direction.
