Chapter 3: Daddy's girl

After Jessica told Gibbs about the other children, he had to have Tony and Mcgee go check the shed out. He was thankful that he still had his little girl alive. Jessica was so much like him it was not even funny. The looks that she would give Jenny when she mentioned the toddler having to eat some peas at lunch was especially amusing.

"Jessica, you can have some pudding with lunch, but you also have to eat your peas too." Jenny said.

Jessica made a face and stuck her tongue out at the thought of eating those tiny green orbs with lunch. She hated the way they tasted and felt in her mouth. Gibbs could not help the crooked smirk that crossed his face. Jessica was most definitely his daughter.

"That's my girl." He chuckled, causing Jenny to glare at him. "Jethro don't encourage her. She is already too much like you." Jenny said. "Is that such a bad thing...I can see she has a lot of her mother's traits as well." Gibbs replied. Jenny gave him a look that caused his heart skip a beat.

The look did not go unnoticed by either Cate or Ziva. They both could an ember of love and desire in their eyes. Whatever happened in Paris had a lasting impact on their lives. The two agents exchanged a look.

Suddenly, Ziva got an idea. She knew some details about their past that she knew Cate did not. Her and Cate could exchange ideas and stories as well talk about Little Jessica.

"Jessi, would you like a snack...I think they may still have some breakfast." Ziva asked. "Chocolate muffins like Uncle Ari makes?" Jessica asked.

Cate and Gibbs looked up at the sound of that name. He wanted to know how his daughter knew his name.

"How do you know him baby girl?" Gibbs asked.

Jessica smiled softly, happy to tell him all about her favorite uncle, besides her Uncle Mike. He had been a part of her life since she was a week old. He was also the one who discovered that she was sick and personally overseen her treatment at the hospital in Tel Aviv.

"He is Auntie Ziva's big brother." Jessica said, causing him to smile. "I see, do you know where he is?" Gibbs asked.

"The last we heard from or seen Ari was when he went undercover in a terror cell here. I also know what he did at NCIS." Jenny said.

"Can I have a muffins please?" Jessica asked, causing Cate to grin.

"What kind of juice do you want?" She asked. "Orange juice, please?" Jessica asked, her big blue eyes twinkling mischievously at her. "You look just like your daddy." Cate laughed, "we'll be back Gibbs."

With that, Ziva and Cate left the room chatting happily about the tiny mini version of the two adults in the room. Cate smiled imagining Tony and Mcgee reactions to the news when they found out.

Meanwhile, Tony and Mcgee walked out to the shed located in the backyard of the house. Jessica had told Gibbs there were other. It made the two agents sick to their stomachs just thinking about what that meant.

"Tony, you don't think that he killed more kids, do you?" McGee asked, staring at the shed. "I seriously hope not...I really hope this bastard rots in prison." Tony replied.

The agent took a pair of bolt cutters and cut the lock off. The door swung open and the smell of death and decay instantly hit them. Tony looked in and seen several skeletons of toddler aged children on the floor. His heart instantly broke thinking of how horribly they died.

"McGee, call Ducky, tell him to bring the truck and have him bring extra stretchers and bags...she was telling the truth." Tony said, pulling out his phone. "Who are you calling then?" Mcgee replied. "Gibbs...he'll want to know." Tony said.

Back in Maryland, Jessica was enjoying spending time with her newly found father. He was really nice and kind. Nothing like the other man.

"Daddy, will I get to stay with you too?" Jessica asked, looking up at him. He smiled to himself, hearing her call him daddy.

"If it's alright with your mother..." Gibbs replied as his phone began to ring.

He looked down to see Tony's name on the screen. Gibbs knew that he wouldn't be calling unless it was urgent.

"Yeah, what did you find Dinozzo?" Gibbs asked.

"Well, the girl is going to be a key witness to put Brown away." Tony said, "in fact she is your only living witness."

Gibbs suddenly felt sick to his stomach. One of those bodies could have been his daughter.

"How many?" Gibbs asked, looked at Jenny who suddenly turned pale. "About 12 that McGee and I could find." Tony asked. "Call Ducky yet?" Gibbs asked, staring at the confused toddler. "Yeah, he is on the way. He is rather upset." Tony replied. "Yeah, I imagine he probably is." Gibbs agreed, "call me when you all have something." "Got ya boss." Tony replied, hanging up the phone.

"Daddy, what's wrong?" Jessica asked, staring up at the sad blue eyes. "Nothing baby, just daddy has to go back to work soon...I can't stay here all day." Gibbs replied, smiling sadly at her. "No go...stay here!" Jessica cried.

He reached out and picked her up. Gibbs knew that she wanted him to stay, but he still had to make sure justice was served.

"Hey, when you get out of the hospital, mommy can bring you to where me and Cate work." Gibbs told her. "Promise?" Jessica asked, staring at him. "I pinky promise... But I am not leaving just yet...I have to leave when you take your nap." Gibbs told her. "Okay." She relented. "Good girl, now what color do you want your room painted?" Gibbs told her, causing Jenny to click her tongue. "Purple...like my puppy's ribbon." Jessica replied, causing him to laugh. "Alright, next time you see me, we'll go over to the paint store and pick out a color of purple to paint your walls in your room. I also will get your dressers painted and get you a bed set up. How does that sound?" Gibbs asked, causing her to smile. She nodded, happy with that answer.

Just then the door opened to reveal Ziva and Cate with food and drinks for the whole crew. Cate seen look of pain and relief in Gibbs' eyes. She instantly knew Tony and Mcgee had found something awful.

"What did they find?" Cate asked, staring at him. "Several somethings that I am not saying out loud because of little ears in the room." He replied sadly. "Oh no, Ducky on the way?" She asked, staring at him. "Yeah, we'll be leaving when she goes down for her nap, where can you buy decent coffee around here?" Gibbs asked

Jenny laughed, knowing he had little to none of that addictive liquid. There were many days when Jenny would go find the nearest coffee shop and get one herself while Jessica was getting her chemo in Israel.

"The gift shop, it is pretty decent, not what I know you normally drink but, it will do in a pinch." Jenny told him. The former marine nodded his thanks and rose, causing his toddler to fuss.

"Are you leaving, daddy?" Jessica cried. "Nope, just getting something to drink." Gibbs replied. "Alright...I loves you, daddy." She replied, staring at him. "I love you more." He told her, kissing her head, "Be right back."

He walked out and found the gift shop located right by the room and smiled when he saw the stuffed animal sitting on the shelf.

It was a stuffed dog with a big red bow around its neck, holding a box of chocolates. The NCIS agent's grin grew at the sight of the dog. Jenny had mentioned that Jessica's old one was destroyed, so why not replace it with a new one and a treat. He tucked it under his arm and walked over to the coffee machine in the back of the shop.

Suddenly, a lone figure walked up beside him, reaching for a tea bag and a sugar. When Gibbs looked up, he was not so thrilled but also relieved to see said figure standing there.

"What brings you to Bethesda, Ari?" He asked, not bothering to look up at him.

"Little Jessica... I heard about what happened and wanted to see her." Ari replied, earning a nod from the NCIS agent.

"Well, I'll walk you to her room...just let me pay for these." Gibbs told him, looking up at him finally.

He picked up the toy and coffee and walked over to the register, paying for his and Ari's drink and the $30 toy. He hoped that the toddler would like it.

"How did you find out about Jessica?" Ari asked as they left the gift shop. "She was a victim of a stabbing caused by a marine she was living with...we just found twelve other bodies in a shed out back that he would lock her in." Gibbs replied, causing the Israeli to swear in Hebrew. "Thank God she is alive. Did Jenny tell you of her illness?" He asked. "Yeah, looking at her you could never tell." Gibbs replied stopping at the door. "She is very much like her father." Ari said, causing a grin to cross Gibbs' face. "That's what her mother keeps saying." He replied.

When Gibbs opened the door, he seen Jessica munching away happily on the rather large chocolate chip muffin. He grinned at the thought of giving her more chocolate, just to see Jenny's reaction.

"Hey, Jessi, I have a couple surprises for you" Gibbs said, causing the toddler to look up from her snack. "I see, I see!" She exclaimed with a mouth full of food.

"Don't talk with your mouth full, Missy" Jenny said. "Yes mommy." The little girl grumbled, still with a mouth full of food.

She quickly finished as Ziva came over and helped her wipe her hands and face. Jessica smiled and thanked her as she began to bounce. She quickly stopped when she felt the stitches pull in her side.

"Ouch...can I sees the surprise?" She asked, causing the second one to smile behind the door. "Close your eyes first." Gibbs said, as the toddler did as she was told.

He motioned for Ari to come into the room, causing the other's jaws to drop. They were shocked to see him there. Gibbs nodded as he shut the door. He looked to Jenny who nodded as did Cate, even though she did not like him all that much.

"Can I opens them now?" She asked, sounding anxious. "Yup, you can." Gibbs said as he set the giant dog down.

Jessica gasped, staring at the giant toy dog. The dog was holding a box of assorted chocolates.

"Thank you! I love it!" Jessica exclaimed, leaning forward hugging the toy tightly. "You're welcome baby, there is another present behind it too." Gibbs told her, knowing she would be overjoyed by seeing the figure hiding.

Jessica picked up the toy to see the face of a person she would know anywhere. Her steel eyes lit up like the fourth of July. The other was just happy to see her as well, thankful to see that she was alive.

"UNCLE ARI!" She squealed as the spy came over to hug her gently, not wanting to aggravate her stitches in her side. "Hello, little fire...you have grown since I last saw you." He smiled, pushing the floppy red curls from her face. "I missed you...are you still working?" She asked, remembering the last time she had seen him. "Yes, but today was my day off so I decided to come see my favorite girl." Ari replied, making her giggle. "I thought that was Auntie Ziva." She said making the Israeli woman pout. "She is, but she is my little sister, you are my goddaughter, I'm supposed to spoil you." He told her, whispering the last part in her ear.

Gibbs smiled softly at the pair, glad to know that he made his daughter's day better. Cate looked at him with an unsure smile in her eyes. She did not like Ari being around Jessica , but she also knew that he was not going to harm the child at all.

While Ari sat with her, Jessica soon discovered the large heart shaped chocolate box attached to the collar of the puppy's neck. Everyone but Jenny found it amusing that she was given more chocolate. Gibbs' grin was the biggest, knowing that it was going to be a hassle to get that back from Jessica.

"Jethro...did you really do that?" Jenny exclaimed, making the adults in the room chuckle. "Possibly...besides, it can be used as a good behavior reward." Gibbs replied, making her sigh. "Yes, well you try getting it back from her." She replied. "Watch this." Gibbs told her, remembering do this with another red haired child.

"Hey Jess...you have to give mama the box of chocolate ok." Gibbs told her. "But why...I loves chocolate." She replied, her eyes full of laughter. "I know, but too much can make your tummy sick and that is not fun." Gibbs told her.

Jessica looked over at her mother who agreed with Gibbs. The toddler sighed as she relinquished the box. Her father chuckled as she stared at the box with a large pout on her lips. Jenny shook her head as she put the large heart shaped box in her large tote bag.

A couple hours later, Gibbs and Cate had to leave. Jessica yawned as he set her down on her bed, tucking her in. She clutched the puppy in her arms and turned onto her good side and sighed. Gibbs tucked the blanket around her and kissed her crimson curls.

"I'll check in at bed time." Gibbs smiled. "Okay...make that bastard rot." Jenny told him, hugging him. "I will, I promise."Gibbs told her.

"We'll keep you posted on how she is." Ziva told them. "Thank you...so, are you going to tell the team?" Cate grinned, making him sigh.

"I believe that some of them will be thrilled to hear this." Ari said. "Yeah, I'll tell them myself." Gibbs replied.

When they got back to the Navy Yard, Tony and McGee had identified at least nine of the 16 bodies they had found. They saw Gibbs heading to the director's office to talk to him about something while Cate called Ducky and Abby. He wanted to talk to them.

"Hey, are you busy...Gibbs needs to talk to you real fast...he's up with the director." Cate said, talking to the Goth, "Alright, let me do it. Bye."

"What was that about?" Tony asked. "Uh...it's about the case." She told him before dialing Ducky, "Hey, tell Ducky Gibbs needs to see both of you in ten minutes." Cate said, "Sure."

"Why?" McGee asked, confused. "You'll see, oh and we're likely working with Ari Haswari, the mossad agent who shot Jackson." She replied, making them frown. "Why?" They cried.

"Because he's an ally." Gibbs replied, making them frown,"I'll explain in a minute."

His phone went off, making him look at it. He sighed, trying to get it to open. Cate helped him and smiled, seeing what it was.

"Awe." She grinned. "What?" He replied. "She made you a picture." Cate told him, showing him the phone.

Gibbs smiled brightly, happy to see the little girl was feeling better. He just wished this wasn't keeping her from him.

"Gibbs, what's up?" Abbi asked, making them turn. "Yes, Jethro, what is it?" Ducky replied, making him sigh. "It;s about the case...the little girl is my daughter." Gibbs told them, making them all stare. "Paris?" Ducky asked, his eyes wide, making Gibbs nod.

"What's Paris?" McGee asked, making the director come down.

"I was an undercover Op that he and Special Agent Shepherd worked, they posed a married couple...and took it literally." He said, making them get wide eyed. "Oh...so, what is going to happen with her?" Abby asked.

"We're going to make sure that Brown and his wife go away for a very long time." Gibbs replied. "A word...it's about the relation with Mossad." Morrows said. "Yeah...Cate, Tony, go talk to Brown, rattle his cage about the kids we found." Gibbs told them.

"Sure boss." Tony replied.

Once he was out of sight, the team grinned. A little girl. Abby bounced with excitement as Cate showed them a picture of her on the screen.

"Oh my goodness, she is stunning." Ducky smiled. "She looks just like Gibbs but she still looks like her mother." Cate smiled.

"A Giblet." Abby grinned, making them chuckle. "She is sassy." She laughed. "I would expect that being Gibbs' kid." Tony smirked.

Later that evening, Gibbs called Jenny. She was working when she picked up and smiled. Ziva nodded as she stood and walked out of the room.

"Hello?" She said. "Hey, did I miss bedtime?" He asked, making her smile. "You unfortunately did, and it was not pretty." She sighed. "What happened?" He asked. "...Night after surgery." Jenny replied, walking to the waiting room. "I wish I was there...we got Browns' wife to confess to the neglect but then she called a lawyer." Gibbs sighed. "Jethro, you will nail him." Jenny replied. "I hope so...so, when is the family court hearing?" Gibbs asked. "In the morning, Ari is staying with her...I want you there." Jenny told him. "And I will be. I promise." Gibbs replied. "Thank you...we'll get her back...I want us to be a family." Jenny said.

He smiled, staring at one of the pictures they had from the house. He did too and was glad that she still wanted him.

"Me too Jen...me too." He replied.
