It's been 6 years now since I met Natsu. I'd been his best friend for four of those years, his girlfriend for one, his fiance for six months and his wife for another six months. He is everything I hoped for. Always there when I needed him, rescuing me from others and from myself. Happy hangs around always pointing it out when we are 'too lovey-dovey.' It embarrasses me, but Natsu doesn't care. He just kisses me full on the mouth no matter where we are; in the guild, in front of a client or even half-way through a battle. Mira had planned my wedding, Levy was my maid-of-honor and Lisanna, Cana and Erza had been my bridesmaids. It was a big affair and I think Mira had more fun than I did. Nothing has changed Natsu is still the biggest part of my life. I will spend the rest of my life with him.

Tears roll down my cheeks as I continue to read. It was beautiful, just like Lucy. She had kept her promise to me, allowing me to read her book first. When I had opened it I saw the dedications page.

This book is dedicated to Layla and Jude Heartfilla.

And of course to my best friends, Levy and Natsu.

I close the book. It has been four months since Lucy died. Natsu hasn't moved on, it took him a whole week to start eating again, yet even now he eats only very little. He keeps himself busy by going on missions and he refuses to talk to anyone. The guild has become very quiet, just like when Lisanna 'died' but this time it's harsher. We had her body, and Lucy wasn't coming back. Her old whip had been hung up above the request board as a tribute to the brave girl we loved. According to Happy, Natsu continued renting Lucy's apartment, he didn't use it, he never went there, but he rented it all the same. It was heartbreaking, we didn't just lose Lucy, we had lost Natsu as well. I pick up the book and walk over to him. He should have been the one to read it first, but… I had been selfish. I wanted to read it first. Natsu looks up at me when I approach, I hand him the book. He doesn't take it. His eyes shut and he puts his head on the table again.

"It's Lucy's." I say. He looks up at her name. I take his hand and press the heavy book into it. "I should have given it to you earlier, but…" I stop. He had ruffled my hair. This was the first response anyone had gotten from him, they were usually ignored.

"Thanks." He says. It was the first word he had spoken in four months, his voice was thick and corse from lack of use. His fingers trace the title. A Salamander, a cat and a guild full of fairies. He smiles gently and that small action both breaks my heart and lifts it at the same time. That smile, so different to his old one, sung out of pain and grief. I could see his pain of losing his mate. Yet, as I watched him clutch the book to his chest and walk out of the guild, I could see it in his eyes. With this last gift from Lucy, he would slowly be able to heal.

Please review. I may turn it into a story...

Much Love,

Rose-chan
