"Holy Shit! Dumpsterdumpsterdumpsterdumpsterdumpsterdumpster!"
"What?!" The dog snapped at the boy in frustration.
"Look at that!"
Dumpster followed Naruto's pointing finger up into the sky, where some sort of massive still bird was roaring above them.
"Well yes, that is an aeroplane."
"What?!" Naruto asked, still watching the plane power over the top of their heads and make to land on the run way about a kilometre behind where Dumpster and Naruto where.
"In this world, they're good at making things."
"They made that?" Naruto was close to squealing in childish excitement.
Dumpster chuckled. Oh boy, just wait until he hears about the space ships.
"How much more is there?"
"Lots."
And with that, Dumpster led his hapless little human through the strip of woodlands that lay between the suburbs and the factories (not that Naruto could see either of these things) and eventual emerged over a massive freeway.
"Welcome to Tokyo." He announced as Naruto tumbled after him, eyes widening at the sights and starting to hyper ventilate and squeal.
"That is a road, where cars travel on. Humans drive the cars. Over there, those big lights, is the city." Dumpster had been right; hyperventilating was the correct way to describe Naruto.
"This…is…awesome!"
As if on cue, another monstrous plane roared overhead and fireworks started to explode over the city.
Naruto fainted.
Dumpster rolled his eyes. Great. Putting his wet nose to Naruto's cheek, Dumpster asked the stirring Naruto,
"Wanna go sightseeing?"
"Do I ever!"
Making their way down into the residential streets of the city, Naruto staring at everything (Wow, what is that? A street light. What the heck is that!? That is a TV which is on the other side of that window. What is a TV? Ohmygosh his bike has got blinking stars strapped to it!) and Dumpster, well, Dumpster tries to keep Naruto as far out of sight as one can in the most populated city on the world. The dog counted his lucky stars that Naruto wasn't in his tell-tale orange jumper, but some thin and long clothes given to him by the Old West Sakura before they left in the morning. Still, the blonde hair and scars were still attention grabbing and recognisable enough. While Dumpster was sure the people of Tokyo would take is as an imitator, Dumpster still didn't want Naruto attracting attention while all the boy wanted to do was frolic about and absorb as much as possible.
"Dumpster, what is Old Tokyo?" Naruto asked while studying the tour guide book that they had picked up (as well as a cap, currently jabbed on Naruto's head, which said "I heart Tokyo".)
"That is like tradition Japan, kinda like the time period that you come from, but without the shinobi."
"No shinobe!" Naruto practically screeched, causing a few people hustling past to give the boy looks and Dumpster to horridly explain.
"Yes, charka doesn't exist here."
"What! They don't have any spiritual energy! How are they still alive!" Naruto suddenly started to regard the crowds around him with a new eye full of equal amounts of wonder and dubiousness.
"Yeah, and no tailed demons or elemental nations…" as Dumpster rattled on the differences Naruto's face steadily whitened and his jaw dropped. "…and no blood line traits or summoning animals or Kages or-"
"Alright, you've said enough!" Naruto practically sobbed into his hands as he wept for the poor people who lived so different to him, "where has all the magic gone?!" Naruto demanded dramatically as he feel to his knees on the pavement.
"Are…Naruto," Dumpster said awkwardly patting the kids shoulder as he cried at the injustice. "They seem to have made up for it, because they have their own miracles as well."
"Really?"
"Well yeah, come on, I think we need to visit a hospital."
Naruto perched with the air of his chakra beside the window on the high rise hospital building, looking in he saw the small baby that Dumpster had told him to look for.
"Why had they got him trapped like that?"
"If that baby was born in our world," (Naruto noticed that he said our, not your) "she would have died after her first few breaths, you know, but here, they save infants like that all the time. They make things Naruto, in this world; they make the best shit you've ever seen. When I first came here, the stuff they can do Naruto, the places…the Time Lord likes to keep to the universes similar to this one, he sees these things and is fascinated in their… well, global culture." Dumpster shook his floppy head and looked at Naruto, the lights of the city against the dark of the night illuminating the night.
"They've been to the deepest part of the oceans, people have travelled and lived in every single part of the world, and Naruto, it is damn bigger than the elemental nations." Dumpster dropped his voice and started to whisper. "They've walked on the moon."
At the same time, they both turner their heads to stare at the moon. And Dumpster knew what Naruto was going through at that moment, the thing in the sky that you had always watched from you bed as you drifted off to sleep, the big orb of light that you just never even phantom as something a man could go up to and touch.
And to touch and it to actually be there.
They spent an hour in the hospital's waiting room, just sitting in the chairs, watching the people work in a wild flurry. Saving lives.
"Dumpster," Naruto started croakily, making the dog look up from where he had been lying underneath Naruto's chair, his collar tinkling as it scrapped on the hospital floor. "Do you think that this is what my world could be like if I could bring peace to the nations like Jariya sensei said?"
Dumpster looked into the space above Naruto, his said old brown eyes swimming with unidentifiable emotions.
"Naruto, this world was unified by force. One nation of people coming out and concurring all the others, every world has its mistakes, this one doesn't take shame in them or hide them away as secrets, they go out of their way to learn about them and teach them to each generation so that people know and so that they will never be repeated again. So if you could unite our world by peace, and you can accept your world's sins and embrace them, then it would be far greater than this one."
