Freedom finally.
Lyra had just learned the news that dear old daddy was dead and was celebrating the best way she knew how; with alcohol and sunshine. That's right she was packing her small bag and heading to the Caribbean.
After spending around a thousand years with her siblings running from their father she was ready to be on her own. Hell, the only reason she stuck around was because they were stronger together. Lyra decided it was best to inform Niklaus she was leaving. I don't want to end up with another dagger in my chest.
Speeding down the road toward the mansion, Lyra let herself smile, she couldn't wait to see what the world held for her now. This was a new chapter in her life, in all of their lives. Mikael may have been her father but that was a long time ago, and before they transformed into an immortal-blood-sucking family.
Lyra took her attention away from the road when she heard her phone go off in her purse. When she glanced back up there was a man in the road. Mikael? Was it really him? He's supposed to be dead.
Fear struck Lyra, who swerved to avoid hitting the man that resembled her father. The car veered into the ditch, spinning and throwing her around the cabin. Lyra's last view was that of her supposedly dead father smile at her from outside the car.
"Well, well, well what do we have here?" A slimy voice says, bringing Lyra from her unconscious state.
"What do you say boys? We have a little fun this one?" Lyra hears a round of two or so more men laugh in agreement. I need to get up and show these ants who's in control here. But her head hurt so much. Did she go drinking last night? She didn't think so, all she did was- the memories of Mikael flood in and Lyra sucks in a large breath, finally opening her eyes. She was greeted with the view of three men, one looking as slimy as he sounded. Glancing around she found herself in an alley. How did I get here?
"Look who's waking up, how are ya doin doll? Wanna have some fun with the three of us?"
"Screw off." Pull yourself together. You have the strength to crush these men's bones to dust. Another pang of pain hit Lyra's head as she lifted herself from the ground, a small whimper escaping her.
"Oh, come on dolly. We'll be gentle." The slimy man, the leader of the trio, winked as he said it.
"I said no! Now get out of here before I do something you'll regret and, unlike you, I won't be gentle." The men seem to find her threat funny and laugh while advancing in on her. Lyra closes her eyes and pushes down the pain and prepares herself to break the men's necks.
"You're a funny little doll. Come on boys, let's get this playtime started." One of the men slips out a knife as they move forward more. Silly humans, I'm going to enjoy ridding the earth of you.
"I believe she said no." A man in his early twenties says from the entrance of the alley way. The men whirl around but find the shorter man no threat. Great, now I've got to compel a wannabe hero.
"Go mind your own business, boyo." Their leader spits out.
"Actually, if anyone here is the 'boyo' it'd be you. I am actually older than your small minds can comprehend." What does he mean? These men are in their late 30's and he's like 25.
"Older? Wha-you're-you're-you're a vamp!" I am so confused right now and this headache is not helping.
"That's right. Now scatter before I rid the world of your existence." That's my line. The men look at each other and run past the shorter man.
"I didn't need your help, I had the situation completely under control." Lyra says faintly, trying to swallow the pain. "Who are you anyways?"
"My name is Godric. I am the sheriff of this area, I heard you yelling from down the block. May inquire who you are?" Lyra eyes the man suspiciously. Sheriff? What is this the wild west?
"Lyra. Now tell me Godric, what did they mean when they said you were a vamp."
"I am a vampire." Wait, what? This is making my head hurt more. Okay, slow the roll and act like you have no idea, it's the best way to get out of this with the information I need.
"What's that supposed to mean? You run around drinking people's blood and sleeping in coffins?" Godric smiles, and steps closer to her, putting a steading hand on her shoulder. Am I swaying? This is worse than I thought. What did Mikael do to me and where is he? Where am I?
"No child, I may drink blood but I sleep in a bed like everyone else. I leave the dramatics to my prodigy."
"So how did they know you were one? Aren't vampires all hush, hush?" Lyra's throbbing head felt like it was getting worse.
"Not since the big reveal quite some time ago. Are you alright? You're sweating and cannot seem to-" Before he could finish his sentence Lyra passes out from the pain in her head, no longer able to keep the throbbing at bay.
Hey...It's been what 3 years? Maybe 4? So sorry to those of you who have stuck with this horrible story that I wrote in like sophomore year in high school. I have decided to completely rewrite this so unthought through story. So say good bye to all the other chapters and cross your fingers my writing got better. Thanks for reading and all rights belong to the proper parties. I own nothing but my Lyra.
