(One Month Later Clare's POV)
Who would've thought that six months ago, I would end up losing my virginity to a guy that I barely know and later discover that I was pregnant with his baby? If I was being totally honest, things could be a lot worse than this, and considering that my two best friends were arguing over who was going to throw my baby shower, it just made me appreciate how supportive they are towards my unexpected pregnancy.
"Clare, will you please tell Jenna that I am going to be throwing your shower?" Alli said while directing a somewhat stern glance towards Jenna.
"Honestly, I don't see the point in why both of you guys are fighting over this when you two could just work together since you guys are my best friends and I love you both equally," I stated as I headed into my kitchen to grab a glass of water.
"She does have a point," I heard Jenna say from a distance.
"Are those two still going at it?" Jake asked as I finally entered the kitchen. One of the many downsides of being at the end of my second trimester is that everything that I do that involves movement makes me exhausted.
"Not anymore. I finally got them to stop bickering with each other. Who would have thought that planning a baby shower for a pregnant teenager would be so challenging?" I chuckled before taking a sip from the glass of water.
"Well, at least you have Jenna who has some experience with this, and Alli has always been good at organizing things," Jake said.
"That's true. Besides, at the end of the day, I just want a bunch of diapers," I said.
"So besides shower planning, what do you girls have planned for tonight?" Jake asked.
"Um. Nothing. I don't know if you forgot, but I'm having a baby, so going out to a party on a Friday night is not in the cards for me anymore," I explained while placing a hand on my stomach.
"Come on, Clare. Just because you're pregnant does not mean that your life is over. How about you call over Eli and his friends and we all hang out tonight and get to know each other better?" Jake suggested.
"That doesn't sound like such an awful idea, big brother," I said, reaching for my phone to text Eli.
"Thanks, sis. I appreciate the compliment," Jake laughed.
"Eli texted. They will be here in an hour. I'm gonna go tell the girls," I said as I headed back into the living room.
(One Hour Later)
"So what did you guys wanna do tonight?" Eli asked before sitting down next to me.
"Jake suggested that we should all get to know each other before the baby gets here and our lives start to get hectic," I explained.
"I'm cool with that. Plus, I brought us some beer and wine, as well as juice for Clare," Dallas said.
"How thoughtful of you. Besides, I don't think I'll be drinking for awhile anyways considering what happened last time I did," I said while looking directly at Eli.
"Hey now. It's not completely my fault. The condom broke! Besides, I love our little angel," Eli said as he planted a kiss on my belly.
"Wow, Eli. I had no clue you had such a soft side," Drew teased.
"Oh, shut up," Eli replied.
After a few minutes of Eli and Drew throwing playful insults at each other, Alli suggested that we all play a game.
"I was thinking we all play the question game, but let's make it interesting. Let's all take a shot, or in Clare's case, a sip of juice, after someone answers the question," Alli explained.
"Let's do it. I'll go first," Jenna said.
"Most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?" Dallas asked.
"I would have to say, my boobs starting to leak during the middle of a presentation I did last year," Jenna revealed.
"Wait what? Why did that even happen?" Drew asked.
"I had a baby last year that I decided to give up for adoption, so shortly after I gave birth, I still needed to pump, and I forgot one day and that happened," Jenna explained.
"Damn, I'm taking two shots to that. Who's next?" Drew said.
"Me," I exclaimed.
"Now that you and Eli are dating, are you guys having sex again?" Alli asked.
"You guys seriously don't know? She didn't tell you?" Dallas asked while struggling to hold in his laughter.
"She refuses to tell us," Jenna pointed out as I could feel my cheeks starting to warm up.
"I really don't wanna know the answer to this," Jake said, as he went on to take a shot and covered his ears.
"Yes, we are," I said, trying to conceal my embarrassment, which I guess Eli noticed because he grabbed my hand.
"There is nothing to be ashamed of, Clare. We're in a committed relationship and having a kid together," Eli whispered in my ear, followed by a kiss on the cheek.
"Dallas, are you single? I'm literally asking for a friend," Jenna asked, hitting Alli in the arm.
"Very much so, and I would be more than willing to take this friend out on a date, if she would be up for it," Dallas stated as he stared directly at Alli.
"So Alli, what was Clare's initial reaction to her finding out that she was pregnant?" Eli asked.
"I actually have a story for that one," Alli said, and all I could do was shake my head because I remembered that day like it was yesterday.
(Flashback to Six Months Ago)
There is no way, I could be pregnant right? I mean, we only had sex that one time. But then again, one time is all it takes. I was definitely freaking out about nothing. Right?
"Clare, will you please stop pacing and tell us what the hell is going on?" Alli asked.
"Yeah, you sounded really freaked out on the phone," Jenna chimed.
"Okay, so you guys remember a few weeks ago when we were at that club and I couldn't find you guys?" I started.
"Yeah, but then we ended up meeting up at the end of the night," Jenna said.
"Well, before I found you guys, I met this guy, more like I bumped into him but that's not the point. Anyways, we really hit it off, and at one moment we were dancing and talking and before I knew it we were having sex in the coat closet," I explained.
"Oh my god! That explains why you haven't been wearing your purity ring lately. Oh my god! You lost your virginity and didn't tell us the night it happened!" Alli said, expressing a little disappointment.
"Alli, that is not why I'm telling you this," I said as I took a seat between the two of them.
"Why are you telling us now then?" Jenna asked.
"Recently I haven't been feeling too good, and I thought it was food poisoning or something, but then I missed my period, so now I'm worried that maybe I'm-I'm" I couldn't even finish my sentence.
"Pregnant. Did you take a test yet?" Jenna asked.
"I brought one, but I've been too scared to take it by myself, which is why I called you guys," I explained.
"Well, you know we are here for you, Clare, and we have been through this before and we can do it again," Alli resassured me as I went in my drawer to get the test.
"No matter what the results are, we are gonna be here for you. We promise," Jenna said.
The instructions on the box were pretty clear. A plus meant I was having a baby and a minus meant I was freaking out over nothing. Maybe I was just overthinking. It's not like the condom actually broke, or did it?
"Okay now we just wait two minutes," I said, placing the test on the drawer and laying down on the floor.
"You know, not all pregnancy test are accurate," Jenna said, laying down next to me.
"Although most of them are, Jenna," Alli stated.
"Maybe I'm just stressed and still sad about my break up with Luke and that why my period was late," I said, trying to calm my nerves. But sadly, that didn't last too long, because my timer went off and it was time for me to face the truth. As I got up and walked to my dresser, the only thing I could think of was what was going to happen next.
"So what does it say?" Alli and Jenna asked in unison.
"It's positive," I cried, and suddenly tears started to flow down my face as Jenna and Alli came to comfort me.
"Maybe this one is a fluke. How about I run to the store and go get a few more," Jenna said as she reached for her bag.
(End of Flashback)
"I had no idea," Eli said, holding my hand.
"How would you? I was just shocked, but after I took a few more, I was able to come to terms with impending motherhood, and that's when I decided to call you," I explained.
"I'm happy you did. I know I wasn't exactly on board when you first told me about the baby, but I'm here now," Eli said.
"I know you are," I said, kissing him and forgetting that we were in a room with my brother and friends.
