A/NA small Jily something to satisfy my craving :')

Allow me to set the scene: It's the summer between The Marauder's 6th and 7th year and they've all been invited to stay at Marlene's holiday villa. In my head, James and Lily aren't together yet but they are starting to become friends. This could be a sort of turning point, if you like.

Enjoy! ~MaryLouise1996

Carrying a tea tray laden with empty mugs and bowls, James Potter pushed open to the kitchen door of the McKinnons' villa. The sight that met him when he turned around was one of such utter ridiculousness that he struggled not to burst out laughing.

Lily Evans was already in the kitchen; long, wet, red hair falling down her back, wearing a hugely oversized Gryffindor t-shirt and a pair of shorts with donuts printed on them. She had a Muggle music device that James had sometimes seen her use as she did homework in Marlene's lounge plugged in to her ears and, sausage roll in hand, she was performing a very poorly executed running man.

He stopped and watched her in fascination. She had her back to him and he could hear the music she was listening to carried to him in a tinny imitation of the bass line. Obviously finished with the running man, she threw her arms in the air (spraying crumbs from the pastry in her hand everywhere) and started waving them madly, twisting her body down to the floor and back up again.

James was completely mesmerized. Every movement, every bad dance move, the way the light reflected from her damp hair; all of it captured his attention and held it.

Still with her back to him, Lily began a crazy rendition of the Can-Can. Kicking her legs out from side to side, yet more crumbs from her sausage roll flying across the kitchen, shaking her hair about, jumping up and down. Quite suddenly, the frantic movements stopped as she dropped her head – evidently the mad part of the song had stopped – and she slowly rotated on the spot.

Her chin was still on her chest as she stopped turning and she slowly lifted it, her eyes closed as she lip-synced. Her long dark lashes slowly parted and if she was shocked when she caught sight of James, she didn't show it. She finished silently singing along, face screwed up as she soundlessly belted out the final line of her song, arms gesturing in front of her towards James.

And then all of a sudden it was over. Lily leaned back against the work surface, took a bite of her evening snack and said, "Hey."

James blinked at her. "Hey there…"

That was all it took. They both doubled over, laughing until their eyes were streaming and they were leaning against each other for support and the noise they were making had attracted their friends from all corners of the house.
