"So what do you want me to do about that?" fire flickered around the dimly lit living room, highlighting the slicked jet black hair of the speaker and threatening to swallow the stray seams of shredded cloth amidst broken ceramic and stone: remnants of what was once a home to a family of three.
The family of three were still around, just without any of them being in less than a half-dozen pieces each; courtesy of the individual sick enough to not just admire his murderous handiwork, but lounge around in the burning aftermath with a cup of Earl Grey of all things.
The other, suited individual was noticeably more irate than the lounging sociopath; white-leather gloved fingers adding pressure to the bridge of his slim, pronounced nose. "Look, this isn't a matter that they'll be willing to overlook. We're turning the tables against monster-kind as an entirety, and you just went and literally ripped apart the family of one of our senior Monster Hunter's simply because you held a personal vendetta against the man." he lost composure for a moment, flailing his arms around wildly for lack of sense in his case "I mean, your reason was no more meaningful than 'He just had one of those faces'." the man's face quickly morphed into a stern scowl at the sniggering other. "What's so fu-"
"What's so funny is that it's just funny to me Sebastian" this, ivory-haired individual was definitely the younger of the two, and far shorter than the lanky giant of a man next to him. Going by his youthful features and ignoring the ghostly-white of his hair colour, this one seemed more a boy than a man, albeit only half a decade from changing that fact.
He took a sip of his Tea, drawing it out as if he had all the time in the world. 'Sebastian' only grew more and more tense with every brutally forced moment of patience. The clatter of porcelain was a welcome sound, but the snarky smirk was not. "I was hired to kill monsters." he gestured to the walls, painted in blood and viscera "Now these people were monsters, and as you so rightfully said yourself: we are declaring war on monster-kind as one entire unit. Now when I hear an order like that, the fact of whether those monsters called your mother fat or ate your grandmother's last blueberry pie or not doesn't deter me in the slightest." he removed his feet from the footrest and made to stand, and it was a show of the invisible pecking order established here when 'Sebastian' flinched so violently that his act to play the movement off served to make sure the other knew he hadn't intended any aggravation of any kind.
Because he knew it would be a wasted effort to even consider.
The teen peered into the grown man's very being with eerie, inhuman eyes, star-shaped pupils belying his 'human' nature. Well, that and the fact that his eyes never stopped cycling through every conceivable colour as the seconds ticked by. "If the higher ups don't appreciate my act, then inform them that they specify my job far more precisely or they neglect to associate me with plebeians like this pissant." he gestured to a pile of gore, amidst of which had apparently been the subject in question at some point.
He broke the stare-off and brought up his cup to finish the last of his post-kill beverage "Do we have a clear understanding Klein?"
The butler lookalike opened his mouth to mention that his name had actually been 'Jared' but he decided against it when he was fixed with a stare that anticipated such thought and dared him to see what would happen if he figured he had the balls to do so.
He instead cleared his throat and let out a raspy "Crystal", standing around awkwardly for a few moments before beating a hasty yet somewhat refined power walk away from the lunatic.
The white-haired boy combed back his unruly, wavy hair, idly fiddling with one of the feline ears atop his head as he considered what to do next.
"Better head off to assist codename: 'Hail Mary', I theorize that it's all going to reach boiling point soon Schrödinger." The now named Schrödinger curled his lips into a malicious grin at this information "Hopefully this will be enough to keep you entertained; I'll be sorting out the transportation now so stand by for relocation." And with a blip the voice was gone.
Fangs were now displayed in a sadistic grin at this offered premise. "It does sound fun indeed 'Mankind'.."
Miyabi was a man of few words for the most part, mostly because a few words was all it took for most underlings to do what they were told. Give them a basic understanding of the task at hand and they should be able to fill in the blanks; that is what he had always figured and had for the most part thus far, been successful with.
but Kiria was a headache and a half when on his best behaviour, and right now he was being as big a brat as he could be Miyabi figured.
if brats often tended to act like the hand of Hades descending upon the mortal world at any given interval he supposed.
"So what did you do this time?" his time somehow remained professional throughout but he had only mastered the art through various years of exposure to the personification of a migraine before him.
"Well at first..." the Chimera's fangs curled into a grin "I was minding my own business" Miyabi slammed both hands down on his desk as he stood to lean over his desk angrily.
"Bullshit!"
"But I was!" he whined, almost like a child being scolded.
The situation in its entirety was eerily similar to such a scenario in fact.
Miyabi dropped back down in his leather chair with a thud, glaring daggers and idly swirling the glass in his tumbler of whisky: always kept nearby whenever dealing with silverette hellions. "So pray tell, what happened whilst you were 'minding your own business'." He grit out, just questioning why he ever decided to even humour the little bastard on another of his infamous tall tales.
Kiria crosses his legs over one another and leant back in his chair in preparation of 'storytime'. "Well, I was chillaxing in my room like a baller, and then all of a sudden these fuckers kicked in my door" he recounted the tale with a fond smile so it wasn't hard for Miyabi to figure out where this epic was leading to. "One of them yelled 'Kneel before the might of our Lord!' and I replied with 'He'll be getting on his knees for me when I'm done!'" He smirked ferally, eyes practically glowing with malice "They didn't take kindly to that."
he scoffed and leant back in his chair proudly, arms folded and without a care in the world. "But you know how that song and dance goes; so I killed all but one of them!"
The embodiment of Alucard released a long, smoky exhale "What happened to the last one?"
At that, Kiria lost any trace of humour, looking even a little irate if Miyabi would make a claim so bold. "I killed that freak thrice."
The original Nosferatu blinked, not quite sure what he meant by that and said as much. It was strange; until that moment, Kiria had clearly been enjoying his recounting of the experience, but now he seemed to just be... pissed off.
It wasn't all too difficult to annoy Kiria; but it was nigh impossible to keep him in such a state for longer than it took him to kill you after the fact.
And he killed this one 'thrice'? Usually that would equate to 'problem solved' in the world of the silver-haired psychopath.
And yet it wasn't. Curious.
The Chimera rolled his mismatched eyes with clear irritation in them "I meant exactly what I said Miyabi. I'm good at killing things" understatement of the century "really damn good, so when I 'kill' something, I expect it to stay dead. But not this fucker, no." his face curled into a scowl "He came with Monster Hunters, and not even amateur ones; they were wielding the same sort of weapons as the ones Tsu-kun faced in the Snow Fairy village, that is to say: Holy Silver, Flames of Divinity and even some Chanters to try and weaken me for the kill." at least the mention of his favourite 'pet' Tsukune had brought some life back into him. "I ripped those holy fuckers apart like they were made out of paper; Chanters first because I could do without the downgrade, even if I'd still be more than enough for the lot with the inhibition." he just liked seeing his enemies squirm, so of course he'd take out their support first to shatter morale. "And the last guy just watched as I did, as if he brought them all along just to decipher what I was capable of; but he was as young as I was, with the same kind of eyes as me." Kiria was unique, and he prided himself on being untouchable because of just as much, so the growl that escaped him meant a lot for his 'opponent'. "In my blood frenzy, I didn't even consider the guy, I just went for his throat from the get-go: and then I found myself on my back, staring up into blue and green eyes. Then orange and red. Then pink and purple."
The silverette smirked "I thought my eyes were odd; his changed every second that went by, like some sort of light show, though his pupils were star shaped, and he had the cutest little ears on top of his head." he snorted out a short bark of laughter, "So when I realised I'd need to put more effort into killing this guy; I did, and I stopped by ripping those very ears off of his scalp with my teeth." he licked at his canines, still coated in trace amounts of crimson even now from the litres of blood that had probably covered them this day alone. "But I thought I had overestimated him. I had assumed him a trump card of sorts, so when I began to redouble my efforts, i was surprised to see that not only did I get his ears, but my follow up strike had me impaling my arm through his chest so that he could witness my holding his slowly beating heart before it withered away." he shivered with some sort of excitement from the memory, even if it just made his superior officer sigh, the usual large cloud of smoke following it.
His attention was captured again when he heard the gnashing of the others teeth at a particularly irritating memory. "So imagine my surprise when I find that he's behind me, applauding my performance as I hold onto his lifeless body. I quickly fix my eyes on him and then feel a whole lot lighter. One glance and there's no trace of him, not even the blood I tasted in my mouth remained, just what was left of the others he came with."
Well, that was indeed an... interesting development. Even more interesting than Kiria being so forthcoming with such information.
"The only real thing that came of it was that I found out their goal in having been there." that had 'Dracula' perk up. This whole time, nobody had truly figured out the reasons behind this radical group they were facing, nothing beyond the apparent 'Holy Crusade' they preached with every interaction. two dimensional holy men with nothing to their lives but submission to another's.
It was sickening. But anyway...
"So I happened to have something against his ears from start to finish, so happens that he was wearing a highly concealable ear piece, and I was able to overhear a voice mention something about a 'Nephilim'." Kiria made a pleased hum at that "We both know what one of those is, but I didn't think they'd actually know where one was!" his surprise was expected; Nephilim were half-demon and half-angel beings, rumoured to have such potential for power that even Alucard had been keeping an ear out for their supposed existence.
And yet he had never heard of one throughout his centuries of life, until this very day.
"They seemed to think I knew where they were; hence the attempt on my life" he feigned distress. It flew over Miyabi's head easily "But I didn't know squat; didn't even know they were real until I overheard that. Bastard regenerated 'offscreen' an instant later so the only information I could get was that they thought they must be nearby since I didn't seem aware of why they were there."
Miyabi frowned deeply. This was indeed a lot to swallow, especially in a world where he had absolutely no rival, not in the form of a single being anyway. but now...
But that was secondary to something else he spotted in that endeavour.
"It's too obvious." he commented, and Kiria quickly caught on, nodding in agreement.
"I spoke with Tsukune about this earlier" Miyabi was placated with an outstretched palm before he could question just why he was involving unauthorised personnel on such a delicate matter "Sit down, we both know that even if I outweigh Tsukune in most fields, he has me beat in Detective work to a scary degree."
He wanted to continue but he had to concede that point. Tsukune was a very talented individual, not least of all for his age; but that was simply dwarfed by the predatory Chimera stood right here.
But that was as far as most Yokai were concerned. Kiria was exceptionally powerful, and cunning enough to rarely find equal. This satisfied most Yokai on his superiority.
Both Miyabi and even a humbled Kiria were aware that whilst Kiria was indeed the greater of the two now, and presumably for a long while yet; Tsukune had such vast potential that it was scary.
It was this that made Kiria so desperate to grab authority over him, to nurture him into something far, far greater.
All that being said, in the time of now, Tsukune was still a brilliant mind, and it didn't take his genius to know that as far as work such as this was concerned, he was the better of the two.
"And that is why I want to have him as my 'partner' for the investigation." he smirked as Miyabi growled.
"I didn't authorise an investigation you brat..." the Hellion waggled his finger about
"Gyokuro probably wouldn't like to hear about you taking such a delicate matter into your own hands under her nose 'father'." and like that it was an instant checkmate. The young Chimera had a lot of dirt over Miyabi, the greatest of which being his true identity, it was only the fact that in a development in which one was found out, so then would the other be, leaving them both in the same sinking boat. So then it came to situations like this one, ripe and without threat to his own person in doing so.
It was quiet but they both knew he had already won.
"Fine."
he raised a hand before the other could speak "But you will be a team of five; and that's final." he expected the roll of the eyes and continued on easily "Go prepare for your 'investigation', and make the young Shuzen aware of his participation in it." his smirk rivaled the Hellion before him, and even Kiria had to suppress a shiver at the sight. Was that what he did to people? He liked it.
"I have some calls to make."
So, short chapter but first chapter in a while.
Announcement here, chance to inspire for the fic details after that.
I haz news, good news.
For fans of this fic, and/or my writing as a whole, I have started a project with a friend of mine by the name of CaesarNova (He's currently writing a Supernatural/RWBY crossover and has another fic he'll be publishing soon that I don't want to announce until he has done so himself.) in which the both of us will be uploading weekly, and not only that, but with two fics even!
So that means that every week, despite my lack of activity until now, I'll be uploading on set days twice a week, my other day being Sunday.
For now, Wednesday will be this fic, and Sunday will be a new fic I'll release this Sunday; chapter already set for takeoff.
That announcement aside, I want to hear you: my loyal fans even after all this time to double down on your favs, follows and reviews. I have the drive I've been looking for all this time and I want you guys to fuel that. Tell me how I do or what you wanna see, literally anything you feel you want to convey to me; don't second guess it.
Now, I also have a favour to ask. Not that I don't have plans set already, but I'm gonna need three OC's for their team. They won't be especially prominent but this is a fanfiction I intend to explore with, and so of course I can't not make characters to fill in the blanks that the canon cast can't fill.
The OC's will be around their age, and are to be especially skilled, not quite to the standard of Kiria and to a lesser extent Tsukune but still outstanding specimens. This fic was intended to be a sort of spin on 'Tsukune making a harem' which I intended to fill at some point in the future, sewing the seeds for now, so these characters can all be female if that's what you guys want to put forward, or they can be dudes like the Schrodinger guy I made for the start of this chapter.
I want to hear your suggestions, either in detail or in short description. Give me what you want, even name, age and nationality; personality and skillsets even, bit of backstory too if you want to.
I'll pick the best ones from the reviews or PMs and give mentions to the rest, so do your best guys, I want to see you guys fleshed out into this work!
Anyway...
Au Revoir for now Readers! ^^
