"The only person that hasn't let me down is Benny."

The words had sliced through Sam like a scalpel.

Throughout their lives, Dean had yelled many cruel and bitter things at him, but hands down, this had hurt the most.

Sam would never discount the harrowing pressure of a year in Purgatory. And he knew, only too well, the unlikely partnerships that could be forged in the name of survival.

But how could a one-year alliance suddenly outweigh a lifetime partnership? And how could a creature, bent towards evil come to mean more to Dean than his real blood brother.
