Chapter 1

Many people wonder if a person, named Azura Petrova, ever lived. Demigod children and even, vampires believed she was a legend. She was feared, loved, adored and hated, but let me tell you, she is real. I am Azura Petrova.

I was raised in York, England. My mother, Katerina Petrova, spoke about the absence of my father. She loved him and great grief swept over her when I asked where he was. She never explained why he had left. She told me my father was the most charming man she'd ever met, and that he was special. What pained her the most, was me. Every time she looked at me, she was reminded of my father.

At the age of nine, a strange creature attacked me and my mom and it possessed a head of a bull and a somewhat human legs. I lived in fear that we would be harmed, and begged my father to help and protect us. One day, my mother received a letter bearing a message. My mother sighed in relief and told me my father had listened. She told me she would send me away to an encampment, where I could be safe. Although that was across the sea, in the lands that were not explored yet. Mother knew that a trip across the seas would help us find the promised land

My mother used her charm with the captain and crew that led the expedition. They said they couldn't allow us to travel with them, since I was a young child and that it would be unlikely for me to survive the trip.

We arrived to a small town, where we stayed until I matured to a young woman. Despite the origin of this trip was to find the encampment my father the letter mentioned was secluded within the lands deep woods. It took us longer than it was expected to find it. As I grew up, my mother realized I had inherited some of her traits as well. I developed some of her inhuman traits. For example, the most dreadful of all, the thirst for blood I began acquiring these traits slowly as I grew up. When I realized it was nearly impossible to go out in the sun, my mom had a sorceress make me an enchanted necklace to be able to go out in the sun.

As time passed, I noticed that I was very similar to my mother in her appearance. My mother told me I was nearly her doppelganger, her physically identical child. Despite of this, I was different to my mother in many ways; I had lighter skin and wavy hair, unlike her olive toned skin and straight hair. Also, sometimes when I was alone, I would sit in front the ocean and feel the breeze against my skin. I would feel different, and my eyes would glow from its usual sky blue to almost reflecting the clouds in the sky.

I made several good friends, however, I knew I was different and that I did not belong there. I shaped the world around me, feeling superior to the mundane world around me and I could easily fool the people around me that I was an innocent human child with ease.

At the age of 18, Mary Clark, who I once believed was my friend, attacked me and wounded shared the surprise as I bared my fangs toward her. She lunged at me and in response, I broke her neck. She dissolved, leaving me covered in golden dust.

Worried the monsters would once again come after me, I hurried to tell my mother about my encounter with Mary Clark. She was really upset and she told me we had to commence our journey to the encampment. We packed our things and set a search for the safe haven, we heard upon a dream. We searched for weeks and months, until one day we reached a hill covered in pine trees. I knew that we had reached the camp she had once spoken of.

When we walked toward the camp entrance, I began reading something in a unknown language, but somehow I knew that it said "Camp Half-Blood". A person with a chubby beard, and thick eyebrows, called Chiron, met us in the entrance. His face and torso were human, but his legs were like a horse.

October 1520

He asked my mother, "Who are you?"

"My name is Katerina Petrova, and this is my daughter Azura. We were told that this was a safe place for my daughter."

"By who?"

"I received a letter from a young man, named Hermes" He grabbed the letter carefully with a wondering look on why Hermes would deliver this letter to this woman.

An understanding look came across his face, "How may I help you?" Chiron asked.

"My daughter, she needs your protection from horrendous monsters."

"I see. She's a half-blood then?"

"A half-blood?"

"I mean is her parentage form a godly origin?"

"Well, not quite. I'm not certain if her father was a god, but my heritage is not exactly human."

"What is she then?" Chiron said.

"She's half vampireā€¦"

"I do not understand."

"Our species burns in the sun. To some we are known as the original vampires."

"How is that even possible?"

"My daughter, well," she looked over to me, "we are not sure how this was possible. We've never heard such thing happening, but we guess it is all act of the destiny."

"How is that safe for my camp?" Chiron kept glaring at me, suspiciously. I frowned in response of his comment.

"She is well controlled. I have taught her how to control her cravings. I will only warn you that our kind has the ability to compel, or convince people to do anything we want them to."

"I understand. That will not stand a threat. We have a similar thing called Mist. We are used to such thing."

"I'm glad you are. She is well controlled, and she can keep a distance between the other campers. Anyway your blood does not smell as appetizing as human's blood, so I guess it won't be a problem. I just need her safe and being able to go out on her own and not getting killed."

I begged my mom not to leave me in Chiron's camp. Like always, she did what was best for me and left me alone and promised she would keep in contact.

There were other people with me and by the smell of their blood, I could tell they were half human and something else. I learned after that they were half Greek God. I felt attracted to them from far away, but as I got near them, they smelled repulsive.

I kept myself away from most of the people living there, called half-bloods, afraid one day I would hurt one of them. I isolated myself from others in fear I would mess up.

Chiron always let me get out of camp each 2 weeks to satisfy my vampire needs. Every time I left camp, I had to carry my sword with me, because I would attract monsters. I was stronger that the average demigods, but I had almost no battle strategy. I am staying in the Hermes cabin, because I have not been told yet who my godly parent is.

I was looking toward the horizon, wind blowing my soft brown wavy hair. My eyes glowed blue. It felt nice, as if I were at home. Then suddenly a sphere appeared on top of my head. I was so shocked that I ran with my vampire speed to Chiron. He turned around and was scared to death seeing me there. He seemed astonished at the glance of the sphere. He muttered, "This is unbelievable."

"What is this?" I practically yelled at him. He remained calm, "Hail the daughter of Aeolus, god of winds." Aeolus? My fangs started to come out; I was angry at my father for leaving my mother and I alone all these years. Most of all, I felt neglected. Had he not cared about me? Thought I was not worth his love? Feelings overflowed from me. Anger. Sadness. I did not want to control them, I had concealed them for so long. Soon enough, my anger turned to rage and I needed to take it out on someone. Chiron was startled, "Azura, please calm down."

In that second I wanted to rip his head out, I lost control for a moment and lunged after him. Then, someone tackled me to the floor.
