Disclaimer: I most certainly do not own Supernatural or Scooby-Do.

Dean and Sam dragged themselves into their motel room. Check out was in a few hours, but they were going to catch a shower and grab a bite to eat before getting back on the road. They hadn't even spent much time in the room. It was almost a complete waste of money.

Sam took a shower first while Dean made himself useful and made them both sandwiches. They both finished around the same time. When Sam came out of the bathroom, Dean was seated in front of the TV. Sammy walked over to where his sandwich waited and eyed it cautiously. Dean had a way with food to say the least.

Dean laughed once. Sam looked away from the sandwich and over at his brother. "Dude, you are such a Daphne," Dean snickered. "I'm always saving your ass." On the TV, the live action Scooby-Do movie was playing.

Sammy rolled his eyes. He got a look at Dean's sandwich. "Is that - is that popcorn?"

Dean nodded. When he spoke, he was speaking around a mouthful. "And peanut butter!" He sounded proud of himself.

Shaking his head, Sam sat down to attempt to eat. He wasn't so sold on the idea of popcorn and peanut butter on a sandwich, let alone not on one. "If I'm Daphne, you're Shaggy."

"Shaggy? Bitch please, I'm Freddie."

"With the way you eat? I don't think so."

Hours later, the boys found themselves at Bobby's house. The fellow hunter and pal had called them to come by and discuss a case that couldn't be talked about over the phone. They didn't have all the details, but Bobby had mentioned something about the case being "phone sensitive."

Dean and Sam stood in Bobby's living room now, listening to the man explain all about a monster not even Sammy knew anything about. It was rare to run into something Sam hadn't read up on as well.

At the same time, Dean and Sammy's heads snapped up. They looked at each other and in union exclaimed, "Velma!"

Bobby stared at them for a long moment as the brothers stood there nodding and smiling. Finally, Bobby shook his head and muttered, "Idjits."

Dean waited impatiently for Sammy to stop going over last-minute deals with Bobby. If they didn't know everything already, they didn't need to know it. They knew how to gank the thing and that's all that mattered.

He sighed loudly. Leaning against the Impala, Dean called out to his brother. "Quickly, Sammy, to the Mystery Machine!"

Sam stopped mid sentence. He turned slowly to Dean and flashed him an expression that was a cross between confused and annoyed. Dean rolled his eyes, gestured with his hands for Sammy to hurry up.

Just as soon as the bloody body of the monster fell to the ground, a small weight was lifted off the shoulders of the brothers. Cass had even made a drop in to lead a hand.

Cass opened his mouth, no doubt to tell Dean to be more careful, but Dean held up a hand to silence the angel. "Please, Cass. Not now."

"Dean - "

He clapped the angel on the shoulder and smiled. "Pipe down and have a scooby snack."

"I do not understand."

As the days work was coming to a close and the open road laid before them, Dean fought sleep and Sam nodded off across from him. And then, in the quiet of the night, a thought occurred to the elder Winchester.

"Dad," Dean said suddenly.

Sam blinked, turned his head to face him. "What?"

"Dad," He repeated. "Dad is Freddie."

Sammy cranked a smile, laughed once. "From now on, you don't watch Scooby-Do."

"Whatever you say... Daphne."

Author Note: This little piece came about due to a conversation I had in which I realized, "It always is Sammy, isn't it? He is such a Daphne." All it took was that one comment and the rest blossomed, falling into place.
