Alex wrung her hands together, her nerves clearly getting the best of her as she debated on knocking on her neighbor's door. She let out a frustrated sigh and tugged at her hair; is she really standing in front of their door? After everything Kevin pulled that day at school?
She knew she should have just dropped everything and finished the project on her own. She really didn't need Kevin and when they'd been assigned as partners she figured she'd be doing all of the work anyways. Turning on her heel, she hadn't noticed the door swing wide open and Celie calling out her name with excitement.
"Alex!" The little girl giggled and latched onto Alex's legs. "Kevin said you weren't coming over today!"
"He did?" Alex frowned and bent down to Celie's level, ruffling her hair. "Why would he say that?"
"He said you guys got in trouble at school and you would be too mad to come over." Celie's bottom lip quivered, clearly upset that she would be missing Alex that afternoon.
Alex rolled her eyes and cursed Kevin for using his baby sister to manipulate her. It worked, however, as she let the little girl tug on her hand and lead her inside. "Kevin's in his room."
"His room?" Alex jerked herself to a stop and almost knocked Celie to the ground. "Why is he up there?"
"He said it was too hot outside to shoot arrows today." Celie kept tugging and pulling until Alex's feet began to move again.
Alex swallowed thickly, after yesterday's actions and today's whispers, she wasn't sure she could trust herself around Kevin. The arrogant jerk had clearly planned this all out. She tried preparing herself for what was to come, but she barely had a second to do so before she stood toe to toe with the devil himself.
A smirk planted on his face while he leaned against the door frame, his arms crossed and hair tousled as if he'd just woken up. "Alex, what a surprise. I didn't think you'd want to see after nearly getting you landed in detention."
She shot him a glare before turning her attention to his little sister. "Celie, why don't you go play and if I have time, I'll come find you later, okay?"
"Okay!" Celie agreed happily before bouncing away.
"You know if she hadn't caught me outside the door, I wouldn't be here." Alex spat at Kevin, seething at the memory of their teacher catching them in an intimate position.
"I know." Kevin shrugged and reached out to grab her elbow, slamming the door to his bedroom when she was inside.
"Kevin!" She hissed as she almost tripped over her own feet. "What the hell?! I can walk through a door perfectly fine on my own!"
A wicked smile graced his lips before he settled himself on his bed. "Were you really going to? It must have taken quite a bit of convincing from Celie to even get yourself through the front door."
"Celie's too young to understand manipulation." Her hands curled into fists for the millionth time that day. She was amazed she was able to look at them and not find the imprints of her fingernails biting into her skin.
"Oh, I know." He laughed and nodded towards his window in hopes she would take the hint and look out of the glass. "But she does love helping her big brother."
Alex huffed before stalking over to his bedroom window, lifting the blinds and finding that his room was directly above the front door of their home. Gritting her teeth, she whirled around to yell at him but found that he'd moved rather quickly and quietly to stand behind her.
"Did you think you were going to get away that easy?" Kevin sneered, placing his hands on her hips and pulling her flush against him and hissing when she dug her nails into the cotton of his shirt. "I told you earlier, Lexie, I was going to have you."
Alex bunched his shirt up in her fists when he nipped at her ear lobe and placed soft kissed down the column of her throat. "Stop it, Kevin, this isn't funny."
"It's a little entertaining." He sucked her skin into his mouth, biting and soothing the sting over and over until it bruised. "God, this make up reeks."
"Then back off." She squeaked and tried her best to wiggle out of his grasp, successfully pushing him away. "Our project is due by the end of the week and we haven't even started it."
Tugging on the zipper of her backpack, Alex pulled out her binder that was filled with notes and a detailed description of what their project should consist of.
"You really expect me to work on some dumb project with you sitting on my bed in a dress?" He quipped and clenched his jaw; why wasn't she giving in? He knew Alex to be a particularly strong girl with a will as strong as a Bull's and it was frustrating to no end.
"I expect you not to jump me any more than you already have, pervert." She scattered pieces of the research she'd already done on their History topic around his bed. "I know you like to think you're in control all of the time, Kevin, but face it," She smiled a sickly sweet smile, "I'm not the kind of girl to bend to your will like others. Now sit down, shut up, and help me finish this damn project."
Hours of scribbling that was sure to result in carpel tunnel and hours of turning pages that cut his fingers and Kevin had slammed his pencil on his desk. He let out a puff of breath and ran his hands through his hair, scratching his scalp in the process. Looking over to his window, he found that night had fallen and Alex had still, somehow, remained comfortably seated on his bed.
Her hair tucked behind her ear, bottom lip caught between her teeth as she concentrated on whatever had her undivided attention, and her dress hiking up a little further each time she shifted to bring blood flow back into her legs.
"What is with you?" He questioned, though he hadn't meant to say it out loud.
"What?" Alex looked up at him, stilling her hand in the middle of a sentence she'd been writing. "What do you mean?"
"After everything, Alex, everything," Kevin shook his head and stood up from his chair to make his way to her, "you manage to so easily put it all behind you like I haven't kissed you."
She felt her face turn hot with every step he took towards her and she looked to her notes to avoid his gaze.
"Like I haven't ran my hands all over you," Alex felt the bed dip and her head shot up to meet his eyes. "Like I haven't already felt every inch of you. Albeit, with our clothes on, but that's surely more than you've experienced. So what is it? What the hell is it about you that you can really resist me after everything we've already done?"
Alex's tongue darted out to wet her dry lips, wincing when the muscle ran over the bite Kevin had left earlier. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Pride is a dangerous thing, Alex." Kevin growled and yanked on her ankle to bring her forward. Her yelp had him smirking when he hovered above her, one hand shooting out to hold himself up while the other drew lazy circles on her calf. "I finished my half of the project, you know. But, it looks like you're still working on yours. Tsk, tsk, Alex, I thought you wanted a good grade on this. You're lagging it, little Lexie, whereas I could have finished both halves in record time. I think I deserve to be rewarded, don't you?"
" I think I'm going to knee you in the balls if you don't get off of me." How she managed to keep her voice steady was beyond her. In reality, she had no idea how to handle herself in this situation. Her body felt like it was on fire whenever Kevin was around and it felt like she could burst at any moment with him so close. His cockiness irked her and his arrogance had her rolling her eyes. But most of all, it was the way his eyes held mischief, the way his dark hair contrasted against his milky skin, and the way he drank her in whenever he had the chance. These things all played a factor in her constant battle of whether or not she truly wanted him, or wanted the trouble that came with him.
She was good student with straight A's, she never got in trouble and had perfect attendance, and she prided herself in her early admission into a prestigious university. But Kevin…Kevin was an anomaly in the life that was already planned for her. Growing up next to him and becoming two vastly different people should have made it easy for her. He wasn't well liked, had no friends, and shrugged things off easily.
Alex was jealous. Jealous that despite everyone hating his guts, Kevin walked through the halls of school without a care in the world. He was obviously smarter than he let off, irritating her because he put in zero effort when it came to their schooling but he could give her 4.0 GPA a run for its money.
"Get. Off." She demanded again, raising her knee against the front of his jeans to indicate just how serious she was.
"You're so cruel, Alex." Kevin let out a dark chuckle but he conceded and rolled off of her frame. Holding his hand out, he laughed at the pure curiosity that danced across her face. "It's late in case you haven't noticed and judging by what I saw in your notes, you're more than done with your side of the project. So, while I could be a gentleman and walk you the ten feet to your house, I'm tired and would rather just kick you out."
She shot up from his bed and ignored his help, gathering her notes and binder to stomp out of his room. Before she could make it to the door, she gasped when her back was pressed against it and Kevin's chest pushing against hers, her binder the only thing separating them.
"I do get a reward," He breathed against her lips and his hand curling into her hair, tugging on it to have better access to her mouth.
Alex's protests were muffled against Kevin's kiss and she hated that she was so willing to say 'fuck it' and cross the line she'd drawn. But she couldn't…and she wouldn't…because he's still Kevin and his intentions are still very clear when his tongue snakes against hers.
Kevin felt the vibrations of small whimper against his lips, a sound he didn't know he needed to hear until she'd made it. That small noise was nearly his undoing. What the hell was this girl doing to him?
It really was all just supposed to be a game; to have little Lexie from next door become putty in his hands but the amount of restraint she had when it came to him was something to admire. Something to admire and something that pissed him off. She had more control over him than she knew and she wasn't even trying. Those stupid little doe eyes and soft lips that drove him crazy and haunted his every dream had him pushing her further into his bedroom door.
He thought it would be easy, thought with Alex's innocence she could b manipulated into doing anything he wanted. Her brains and smart mouth should have had him knowing better. He watched Alex grow into the stubborn woman she was so it shouldn't have surprised him when she blew him off.
The sound of her binder thumping against his carpet had him pulling away and nipping down to her collarbone and one of his hands coming up to knead over her clothed breast.
Alex let out a ragged breath and didn't even try to stop the mark he was sure to leave, but when she felt his hand on her chest she panicked and shoved him back. She scrambled for her binder and backpack before bolting out of his room and down the flight of stairs, throwing out a meek goodbye to his parents. She could swear she still heard him laughing even outside his home.
Not sure if this is where I meant to go with this, but here it is.
I know it's been forever since I've updated this story and to be honest, I don't even know if some of you will even still read it. Either way, I'm hoping this chapter will be enough to somewhat forgive me.
It's been a long while since I've brushed up on the We Need to Talk About Kevin book/movie so this was probably not the best. But I hope you'll enjoy it anyways.
Much love,
