At Dusk, I Will Think of You
Three best friends sat on the tall tower overlooking the golden town below. A tall red haired man with piercing green eyes, a shorter blond boy with blue eyes like the deep ocean, and a small blue eyed black haired girl. They were each munching a blue-colored ice cream flavored sea salt. The trio was smiling and laughing, trapped in the perfect moment of their life, the three of them, together. Far below them, a train snaked through the town, glinting in the harsh sunset. The sunset cast a golden glow on the small town and clock tower, illuminating it in a golden light.
Little did the three friends know that their friendship would soon come to a tragic end, each oblivious to what was in store in the near future. How in just a short while, they would go from their innocent friendship to a morbid rivalry. From the best of friends, to enemies...
But, for now, they were in their own time, their own world, as friends. Eating ice cream, spending time together, laughing, helping each other, doing what friends do...
Large smiles were plastered on their faces as they shared those moments together, of ice cream and laughter. Of peace, and if they could feel it, "love." They smiled at each other, their laughter echoing into the never ending red sunset, frozen in time. In the distance, a train whistle blew...
The trio sat in their own golden world, serene, pure, and innocent. Like a soft, delicate melody of gold. Because that's what friends did- spend time together, eat ice cream, help each other, watch golden sunsets from atop the highest tower. Remember the precious memories in life, the ones worth remembering...
As they finished their last bits of salty, but sweet, ice cream; the blond boy looked down at his stick to see "Winner" written on it. He peered curiously at it, showing the stick to his friends who were just as curious as he was. Finally, he tucked it inside his black coat as the others bit into their last bits of ice cream.
The three stood up carefully, making sure not to slip off the tower. There was a slim chance one would survive the long drop.
As they made their way back to the World That Never Was, and then farther on towards the Castle That Never Was, the boy took hold of his red haired friend's hand. Then, he reached out for the girl's hand, who accepted it. Together, the trio made their way back down the golden sidewalks of the town, the setting sun casting a golden reflection on their backs...
Little did they know, as they trekked back to their castle, the dark fate that lay in wait in the all too soon future. But for now, they would have one another to remember...
