Chapter 7

Blair barely remembered leaving the Blue room. Her heart pounded as she ran through the hallway towards the bathroom. Out of the corner of her eye she could she a blur of the crowd too focused on the charity art. No one knew her world could be tumbling down. No one could know. She decided then and there that she would not say a word to anyone until this was taken care of. Maybe there was nothing to take care of. There were plenty of other reasons she could be late. This had happened to her before when she was in high school. It turned out to be nothing.

She made it to the women's bathroom and looked inside. "Hello?" she called. No one answered. She walked in and closed the door, and locked it. She needed to be alone even if it could only be for a minute. She starred at her face in the bathroom mirror and a sick feeling filled her stomach. Should she vomit? Would that even make her feel better? Did she want to vomit because she was nervous or because she was something else? A single tear fell down her cheek. She wiped it away quickly and took a deep breath. This is ridiculous. She thought. There was no confirmation that anything was actually wrong at all. Why did she let Jack do this to her? He always tried messing with her mind. He loved to see her worked up like this and she had no doubt that is what he was counting on when he met her in that room. He wants to get to Chuck, so he is messing with you. That is all. Blair told herself.

A knock suddenly came at the door and she remembered she was in a public restroom.

"One second!" Blair called coming to the door. She quickly put a brave face on and opened the door to see a slightly annoyed older woman.

"Sorry" Blair told her with a smile. "I didn't realize I had locked the door behind me…habit I guess."

The woman just scoffed and walked past Blair. Blair's smile turned quickly to a frown when she saw Serena waiting in the hall with a look of disapproval on her face. Blair walked over to her friend.

"S…" She began.

"How did I know I would find you here?" Serena asked her in a disappointed tone.

Blair was honestly too tired to explain the reasons why she was in a locked public restroom. Even if she made up something Serena was already convinced that she was in there to vomit because of her bulimia.

"I'm sorry S. I think I'm just ready to go home. Come with me if you want. But I don't want to talk about all this here."

"Oh I'm coming and you will eventually talk about this, if not with me with a professional." Serena grabbed her arm and began walking toward the crowd.

"Serena there you are!" Lily called to her from the center of the room. She motioned for Serena to come talk to her. Serena reluctantly waked over to her mother, dragging Blair with her.

"There is someone here I want you to say hello." Lily said to Serena. "You see that guy in the blue suit next to the paintings?"

Serena looked and saw a short, funny looking, and bald man in a blue suit with glasses.

"Yes Mother" Serena sighed. "And why do you want me to say hello to him?"

Lily smiled. "He is one of the admissions officers at Columbia. Just because you aren't going to school this semester doesn't mean you can't go next."

"Mom, Blair is not feeling well. I was going to take her home." Serena told her mother secretly relieved that she had a valid excuse not to talk to that sad looking man.

"Oh that is too bad I'm sorry Blair." Lily said not even looking Blair in the face. "Ah I know." Lily smiled. "Charles!" Lily called, and Blair's heart stopped at the sound of his name.

In an instant Chuck was right beside Blair ready to help Lily with whatever she needed.

"Yes Lily?" Chuck answered her.

"Blair is not feeling well." Lily started.

"Oh my God." Blair thought. Now she really wasn't feeling well.

"Would it be too much trouble for you to take her home? Serena needs to stay here with me."

Serena rolled her eyes and Blair looked awkwardly down at her shoes.

"Of course I can take her. No trouble at all." Chuck smiled at Lily.

Blair felt like she was going to vomit right then and there.

"Oh that's wonderful. Thank you Charles!" Lily said giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Blair started walking for the door. She could feel Chuck following right behind her.

"Slow down." He called to her.

Blair just walked faster.

Chuck followed Blair out the door of the gala and onto the sidewalk. She walked probably a good half a mile before Chuck finally caught up with her. He put his hands on her shoulders to slow her down. Blair shrugged him off, but came to a stop. Her breath was heavy as she stood with her back toward him.

"I'm not going ask what's wrong." Chuck began. "I'm not sure you'd tell me anyway."

He waited for her to respond but she just stood there on the side walk looking down at her hand. He imagined she was probably rolling her eyes with that cute little annoyed expression of hers. Chuck knew it wasn't Blair's idea to have him take her home. He knew this was extremely uncomfortable for her, but he couldn't just leave her alone on the sidewalk. He was worried about her. Was she actually sick? What happened at the gala that made her want to leave early? He only knew that this time it wasn't because of him. Blair didn't speak so he continued.

"At least let me text my limo driver. He can take you home and I'll go back to the gala"

Chuck took at his phone and texted his driver their address. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Blair turn to face the street. Her breathing had slowed and even though she wasn't saying anything Chuck could tell she was planning on taking him up on his offer to let his limo take her home. Chuck fumbled with the buttons on his phone, pretending to be texting, but he was really just trying to look at Blair without her getting upset. It was killing him not to know what was wrong. It was actually painful for him to know that even if he could help her right now she wouldn't accept his help. He had fucked up and he knew it. He would spend the rest of his life trying to make up for the mistakes that he had made. But he could tell that he was not the only thing wrong with her tonight. He truly just wanted to give her a chance to talk to him. Maybe he could make it seem like it was her idea to confide in him. He would have to play it cool. He couldn't be too pushy. He really didn't want to make her more upset. She was just his whole world. Chuck knew he wasn't going to be able to just go back to the gala. And if he was really going to give Blair the space that she deserved, it was going to take every ounce of power he had not to send someone to check on her later tonight.

"Unless…" Chuck spoke impulsively. "You don't mind me coming along with you."

Blair actually turned to face him and her face was anything but amused.

Chuck started sweating under his tuxedo. "I promise I won't try anything." Chuck added.

Blair bit her lip and turned her head to look at the road again. After a moment she finally spoke.

"It's your limo Chuck. If you want to come I can't stop you."

Chuck hated when she gave him sentences like that. Was she saying yes or no? Should he go with her or shouldn't he? Why can't she just give me a straight answer? He thought to himself.

This time Chuck didn't even try to hide the fact that he was staring at her. His eyes were glued on her face trying to read her expression. All he read was defeat. This concerned him greatly.

"I'd feel better knowing you got into bed safely, but if I am over stepping I need to know now." Chuck started bluntly.

Blair looked at him with tired eyes.

"It's fine Chuck. I'll probably be asleep as soon as I get inside."

That was a good enough answer for him. He was going with her then.

About a half an hour later Chuck and Blair where both riding the elevator up to Blair's pent house. Blair was completely silent the entire ride home. Chuck watched her the entire time. He didn't even try to hide that fact, but Blair was in another world. She stared out the window the whole ride. Chuck thought about trying to start up conversation a few times but it was pointless. He had no idea what to say to her. For that moment he was just relieved she was safe. He knew where she was, and she didn't seem to mind him sitting next to her.

When the elevator got to the pent house they both stepped off. Blair began up the stairs and after a minute Chuck followed. She didn't seem to even remember he was there, he figured he would at least make sure she got into bed ok. Chuck stopped when he got to her bedroom door. He watched her go into the bathroom. For a second he considered just leaving. He wasn't sure if he was over stepping because she wasn't telling him what to do. He missed Blair bossing him around, in more ways than one.

After a few minutes Blair emerged from the bathroom in her robe .Chuck almost just left until he saw her face. It was red. You could tell she had been crying. Without thinking he stepped right in front of her and took her face in his hands.

"What is it?" he whispered.

Blair took his hands off of her face and walked passed him. She took off her robe and placed it over her vanity chair. She then moved to her bed and got under her covers. Chuck came to the side of her bed and knelt next to it.

"Blair…" he whispered.

Blair took a deep breath and turned away from him.

"Please turn my light off before you go." She asked him. Her voice was shaking.

Chuck reached out to touch her shoulder. "Not until I know that you are ok." He replied.

Blair turned to face him once again with a look of frustration mixed with defeat.

"I'm late." She finally told him.

It took Chuck a moment to understand what she meant but when he understood he looked down at the floor.

"Oh." was he could get out and even that was hard.

His mind went to the first thought that he was sure Blair had had. The nightmare was not over and now she could be pregnant with his uncle's baby. It could even be his baby. But how would they find out? Would Blair even keep the baby? What if it was his uncle's would she keep it then? What would this do to them? What would this do to Blair? How could she even want him after all this. And Chuck realized that no matter what even if it was not his baby he would still be there for her. He looked at Blair and saw his world and nothing could stop him from being there for her.

Forgetting about his promise to let her have her space, Chuck took his arms and threw them around her. It took Blair a minute but she returned his embrace and she returned it with strength. They stayed like that for a long time. Chuck could feel how exhausted Blair was and he was now at the point where he wasn't going anywhere until he saw that she had something to eat and slept. They stopped hugging and Chuck got out his phone and started texting.

"What are you doing?" Blair asked in a worried tone.

"I'm making sure you get something to eat." Chuck replied sticking the phone in his pocket.

Without hesitation he took her hand and led her to her bed. She sat down and he sat next to her.

"I was just ordering a sandwich for you. My driver should be bringing it up soon."

Blair opened her mouth to argue but Chuck put his finger on her lips.

"You need to eat. And I'm making sure you do."

Blair just sighed. "Fine."

"And after that you need to sleep." Chuck continued.

"Of course I will." Blair agreed.

"That's not all." Chuck started. "I insist you take a couple of days off for yourself."

"Chuck…"Blair tried to speak.

"I don't want to hear it Blair. You are not doing well. Anyone with eyes can see that. You are taking care of yourself and I am staying right here and making damn sure you…"

Blair grabbed his shirt and pulled him in for a kiss before he could finish what he was saying.

"Thank you." She whispered her nose pressed against his.

Chuck licked his lips and kissed her again. This time the kiss had so much passion that both of them had to separate and catch their breaths.

"I'm here no matter what Blair." He told her with confidence.

Blair gave him a nod. Her eyes told him she understood his commitment to her.

For the first time in a long time Blair felt somewhat ok about the future because she had confidence that he was in it. No matter what she knew would get through it with Chuck by her side.

Blair woke up to Chuck's voice talking on the phone. She decided to keep her eyes shut and just listen to what he was saying.

"What do you mean you can't find him?" She heard Chuck ask the person on the other end. "When you find him tell me immediately. Let him know I am looking for him."

She heard him hang up and sigh. Then she heard his feet moving toward the bed. He sat down on the side of the bed and gently touched her shoulder. Blair continued to keep her eyes closed. She did do partly because she didn't want Chuck to know she had heard him on the phone, but mostly because she was still very tired. Chuck leaned in and gave Blair a kiss on her forehead. The next thing she heard was him walking toward the exit. She opened her eyes and sat up just in time to see her bedroom door closing. Blair didn't even have to wonder where he was going or who he was trying to find. She only wished that he would have taken her with him. Blair could help him. And she hated the thought of anyone alone with Jack Bass.

Chuck hurried out of Blair's apartment complex and got into his limo that was waiting for him outside. He knew he had to find his uncle. The problem was he didn't know what he wanted to do when he found him. Chuck wanted to hit Jack and continue to hit him until he felt all the pain that he had caused him. But the pain that Chuck felt wasn't physical and Chuck knew that the only way he could really hurt Jack was to use the law to make him pay for what he did to Blair that night against her will. The first thing he would have to do was find the document that Blair signed for him that night. There was no question that he drugged her and raped her, but Chuck was not sure what the contract that she signed exactly said. Did this contract give Jack the right to do whatever he wished with her that night? Could Jack use that paper to argue that she gave herself to him willingly? These were important things that Chuck needed to know before he could get the law involved. He knew he could eventually use Blair's help with taking Jack down. But as for now he wanted Blair to get the rest that she needed. Chuck knew that she would be angry with him for no involving her at first but she would get over it. Chuck had work to do. He was going to take down Jack Bass.

It had been about an hour since Chuck left and Blair was still lying in her bed. She lay there staring at her ceiling trying desperately not to think about her meeting with Jack in the Blue room. Jack's sick face flashed in her mind and Blair swallowed and took in a deep breath. Just then a knock came at her door.

"Miss Blair? I clean your sheets?" She heard her maid, Dorota call.

"Come in." Blair replied, sitting up in her bed.

Dorota opened her bedroom door. "Miss Blair, you going to sleep all day?"

Blair didn't answer. She just got up so the maid could strip the sheets off of the bed. And with a twinge in her stomach Blair headed to her bathroom. Her period still had not made its appearance and Blair wondered if maybe she should take a test. She tried to comfort herself. She reminded herself that this had happened to her before. Her period had been late because of stress. Just because she was a few days late didn't necessarily mean she was pregnant. But what if she was? Blair stared at her face in the mirror. She was thin, too thin. She wasn't hungry but she knew that she should eat something. And after she shoved down a bagel she decided she would go and find Chuck.

When Chuck reached the Empire Hotel he went straight to his office. He was surprised to find the door unlocked. When he walked in he found a note on his desk.

Dear Nephew,

By the time you receive this note I will most likely be out of the country. I knew after I met with your precious Blair at the Gala that it was only a matter of time before you came looking for me. Please know that I did not do anything with your girlfriend that she did not want. Believe me. She wanted it, begged for it, all of it. Enjoy your hotel Chuck.

Until next time, Jack

Chuck's entire body shook as he picked up the note and tore it in two. Jack would not get away that easily. Chuck vowed then and there that he would find his vicious uncle even if he had to leave the country to do it.

{Authors note: I just had a couple of readers confused because this story is set two months after Blair was with Jack so "Wouldn't she already have a baby bump if she was pregnant?" The argument is that the timing in the story is messed up and that by this point pregnancy or no pregnancy would be a for sure thing. So technically it has been 8 or 9 weeks since the incident with Jack and I can say this knowing (I am a mom and have been pregnant more than once) just because it has been that long does not mean she would know about pregnancy or even have a baby bump. Normally, yes a woman would notice right away if she did not have her period. But in this situation especially, it is not likely she would notice right away. Blair has been through a traumatic event. In the 2 months time before I started this story she was drinking and numbing herself to forget what was having vivid awful nightmares and flashbacks which caused her a huge amount of stress. Her bulimia has also returned. Plus let us not forget that Blair as a character is the queen of avoidance. That being said there could actually be a number of reasons why she has had skipped periods and pregnancy is only one of those might be reasons. As far as the baby bump is concerned. like I said her bulimia has returned. She is super super even if she was not every pregnancy is different and everyone's body carries a baby differently. 9 weeks after pregnancy is not usually early enough for a bump especially for a first time mom. (I'm not confirming a pregnancy only explaining why if she is pregnant she may not know) Thank you again for your patience. And I promise in Chapter 8 the pregnant or not pregnant thing will be come clear and I will wrap up the story shortly after.
