Chapter 71: Home at Last

The next morning, Isis had come to check on each of them. Micky had slept through the night, and he assumed that Piper had, too. One look at Mike had confirmed for him that she had slept soundly the entire night. She was still only barely waking up and looked up at Micky with a smile. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips before whispering that he loved her.

"Well good morning to you, too," Piper said. "I could get used to this."

"How are you all feeling?" Isis asked.

"Much better," Piper answered.

"Did you figure out how to get us home?" Mike asked.

"Yes, we did, but we have to send you all through the same portal," Isis answered. "Luckily, a few of the Pharaoh's guards found the other traveller hiding out in another temple. They are bringing him here at my request."

"So we get to go home!?" Davy asked excitedly.

"Yes," Isis answered with a smile. "Preparations are already being made for the spell to send you home. We have made breakfast for you if you are hungry before you leave."

"Food?" Davy said. "When was the last time we ate?"

"A long time ago," Micky said jumping up quickly.

"Well, then, I'll escort you to your breakfast," Isis laughed. They followed her quickly down several hallways and arrived in a large room with several tables. It looked like a room that routinely held feasts. They sat and ate lots of food, some of which Micky didn't know, but all tasted delicious on his empty stomach. About a few hours later, they'd finished and Isis informed them that the Devil had arrived and it was time to perform the spell. They followed her down a few more hallways into another large room.

This room was darkened and lined with candles. As soon as Isis walked in, the candles all lit up illuminating the room. It looked like a ceremonial room with tables full of trinkets and more candles. The walls were lined with more beautiful artwork that amazed Micky. In the middle of the room were two burly men wearing white linen cloth around their waists. In between them, the Devil sat bound, gagged and looking very angry. His nose had stopped bleeding, but it looked very broken.

"I'd like to introduce my sister, Bast," Isis smiled indicating another woman in the room.

"The cat goddess," Piper said.

"Not goddess," Bast smiled. "But yes, I do help and love cats, among other things."

"Bast also has dominion over the sun," Isis said. "We can use her power over the sun to send you back home. Advance the sun forward enough to your time. It will be a one way portal."

"We'll be getting back around the same time we left?" Piper asked.

"Yes," Bast answered. "I'm not sure how accurate it will be, but it will be around the same time, give or take a day or two."

"And you," Isis said moving to the Devil. "You will leave these boys alone. You will not pull a stunt like this again, do you understand? You will get your powers back, but you will leave these boys alone or I will strip them from you. We live forever and we remember everything." The Devil nodded reluctantly. Once she was satisfied, she and Bast began doing something at one of the tables. They appeared to be making some sort of potion, but Micky couldn't tell. Once they finished, they threw the potion on the ground. It formed a metallic looking pool that spread over the floor. Bast and Isis held out a hand toward the puddle and it started shimmering and glowing.

"It is done," Isis said. "The portal is open."

"That's a portal?" Peter asked peering over it.

"Yes," Bast answered. "Just jump into it. It will take you to your own time and the curse will end. You must hurry before it closes."

"Well, here goes," Micky said walking towards the puddle. He was a little hesitant to step into it and looked back at Piper for support. Piper nodded and walked next to him. She took his hand in hers and they stepped through together. It was like being stuck at the deep end of the ocean. He felt pressure on all sides of him and wanted to throw up. He finally felt the sensation let up and he was lying on a bed.

He looked around the room and realized it was his room. They were home. Piper was next to him with a smile on her face. A second later Davy appeared on the floor next to them followed by Mike, Peter and the Devil. As soon as the Devil realized he was home and had his powers back, he disappeared.

"Really hope he took Isis's warning to heart," Davy muttered.

"You really think she'll be true to her word and make sure he leaves us alone?" Mike asked.

"Most likely," Piper said pointing to the window. Micky looked and saw a black cat sitting in the window looking at them. With a soft meow, the cat flicked it's tail, turned and left.

"Wow," Peter said running to the window to watch the cat leave. "I can't believe we mingled with Gods!"

"They weren't gods," Piper said.

"They're revered as such," Mike said. "I'm just happy we're home!" The boys jumped up and ran downstairs. Micky ran to hug Mr. Schneider, the stuffed chimp and then his precious drum set.

"We're really home?" Peter asked. "This isn't just a dream?"

"Nope," Mike smiled as a loud bang resounded on the door. Only one person they knew knocked like that. Micky ran across the room to answer the door revealing an angry Mr. Babbitt.

"Where have you been?!" Mr. Babbitt boomed, but Micky didn't care. He was even happy to see Mr. Babbitt again. He wrapped his arms around Mr. Babbitt startling the poor man. "What in the world are you doing?!"

"Micky, let the man go," Mike said hiding a chuckle.

"Don't do that again," Mr. Babbitt said as Micky released him.

"Sorry, we're just happy to be home," Peter said.

"Where were you?" Mr. Babbitt asked again. "I've been trying to get a hold of you for a week. What in the world has been going on over here? I've been hearing a lot of racket."

"Right," Mike said. "We're really sorry about that, but we think that's over. We had some issues arise that we had to leave to take care of."

"But they're taken care of?" Mr. Babbitt asked angrily.

"Yes," Mike assured him. "No more loud noises."

"Fine," Mr. Babbitt said. "But don't think I'm not watching you."

"Wouldn't dream of it," Mike said closing the door behind their fuming landlord.

"Did you really just hug Mr. Babbitt?" Davy asked.

"What can I say, I was even happy to see him," Micky laughed.

"Ok, well, I think I'm gonna lie down for a nap," Piper said. "I'm still tired. Do you guys mind if I crash on one of your beds?"

"Not at all," Mike said. "In fact, I might join you for that nap. Micky?"

"Yeah," Micky answered. He was excited to be home, but tired nonetheless. After everything they'd been through, he knew Mike had been right. He'd probably sleep for a whole month. Davy and Peter agreed that they were also tired, so they all went to bed. They didn't sleep for a month, but they slept the entire day away. They woke up the next morning, feeling refreshed and back to normal.

They spent the next few weeks looking over their shoulder for an attack, but all they saw was the same black cat randomly following them around town. The boys had performed a gig a few days after getting back inviting Piper, Michelle and Allison. After the show, they all ate dinner at the club and the boys regaled Michelle and Allison with the tale of what happened in the Underworld and the time travelling. They had been worried they hadn't been able to get ahold of them for a week. But they were now glad to have them all back.

It had taken several months for them to finally feel secure and get back to their normal lives. They had won. Not in the way they had planned, but they had won. The Devil would be leaving them alone. He had either given up or was too afraid of the wrath of the Gods they'd befriended. Peter had even taken to leaving a bowl of milk or some cat food out on the back porch for the little black cat that seemed to check on them periodically.
