They'd been desperate and hadn't really cared at that point. The paperwork was in order, and they needed men so badly that they weren't going to question it no matter how bad a forgery it had appeared to be. Despite the fact that he appeared to be a mere child, and the fact that a medal and a letter of condolence would be a cold comfort to any family he had should they be amongst the lucky few to survive the coming onslaught, they set him to the controls of a Starfury.

It wasn't like any of them expected to survive this anyway...

Kenny had spent a thousand years lying, cheating, scrounging, stealing, and murdering, and yet when the call came, he went to serve. The Earth was and had always been his home, and while it hadn't been the best of homes and the people on it had pretty much been tools to him, it was his and therefore something he was willing to defend no matter how futile such efforts would be.

As the Starfury exploded into a million pieces around him - mercifully taking his head as it did - Kenny could say that he'd actually died for something - dying in an attempt to save the Earth was something after all - and that that boyscout Duncan MacLeod who'd said that he'd never amount to anything could suck it.
