Ever so carefully, Lightfoot arose from his slumber, thinking to hear a noise.

It was a bitter midwinter and as Lightfoot explored, he found himself a home in a cave.

He followed the sound of a painful cry all the way to a dark and icy clearing in the woods.

Lightfoot thought out loud "How can this be?" as his long lost brother, Moontail, breathed heavily under a cold blanket of ice.

"Lightfoot" responded Moontail. "You haven't done anything wrong. I have never even met you before this. I have been here for one hundred and twenty years, living on the energy that still exists in me." Lightfoot couldn't help but let a tear escape. He watched as his brother lay on the snowy floor, his mane in a tangled mess. "Who has done this to you?" asked Lightfoot with concern.

Moontail took a deep breath and responded "It was the Griptelites." A look of sadness arouse on Moontail's face. "Who are the Griptelites?" asked Lightfoot, taking a step closer to his newly discovered brother.

"They were only a myth until… " Lightfoot cut him off. "Wait, aren't they those psycho human creatures that freeze you to death? You poor thing!" Indeed, Lightfoot was concerned about his brother, but he was also curious about his story.

"Well, I was travelling as you are now. The Queen had accidentally opened up a secret portal between Luster and earth. The mentally impaired had tracked it down, and before we knew it, there were Griptelites everywhere. I have knowledge of every event around here for the last 120 or so years, but in such a brutal way."

"I'm so sorry." Replied Lightfoot mentally, as that was the only way they could communicate.

Sorry about the short first chapter, I promise it will get juicier and more interesting as I write on! I'm only on the first book so it may not go along with what you have read.

Also, you do not need to have read the books to understand this.
