What's in a name...?

Hermione gave a pleased sigh as she finished her rapid fire (yet somehow still lengthy) explanation of her holiday plans. They included several weeks touring some of the ancient ruins in Greece, which as usual would provide the opportunity to learn about and celebrate both muggle and wizarding history. Ron was spending a week with Charlie in Romania but otherwise was eagerly anticipating long lazy mornings in bed, plenty of quidditch and his mother's home cooking.

"What about you Harry, what are you doing this summer?"

Harry grinned, "I'm only going back to stay with the Dursleys for a fortnight, then I'll spend the rest of the summer with Siri and Remy. I can't wait!"

"That's great, mate! We can floo over and you can come fly at-"

Hermione snorted suddenly, cutting Ron's sentence short.

"Siri and Remy! You sound like Lavender's been giving you advice on nicknames." She chuckled again, not least at the indignant look that appeared Ron's face.

Harry looked awkward and spoke grumpily, "I just... I just want them to know I think of them as family."

"Of course they know, but calling Sirius and Remus that... Well, really Harry, you're fifteen not five."

"I guess."

Hermione smiled at her emotionally stunted friend and nudged him kindly. "Sirius doesn't need you to give him a nickname to know that you care about him." Her gentle smile sharpened slightly. "I care about Ron, but I don't feel the need to call him 'Won-Won'."

Harry laughed easily again as Ron looked up with an indignant, "hey!" and proceeded to chase the girl up the corridor towards Gryffindor Tower.

A.N.

So, I put Harry's age as fifteen, which would suggest I have a clear idea as to where this drabble might fit within the canon story arc, or even that it would.

Dismiss such reasonable thoughts from your mind...

Kind of a pointless one but I can't bear the awful nicknames that Harry uses in some stories. Goes hand in hand with a teenaged Harry who suddenly pouts "carry me" to older men, father figures or otherwise.
