Chapter 20: Seperation

Ruins of Valhalla, -unknown-

"Shall we end your pitiful existence eidolon?...Dante will not be able to stop the meteors." it stated in a cold smug voice. Odin's emerald gaze slowly fell onto the majin and he picked up a battle stance, even on one leg; Odin readied himself to fight entrusting Dante to protect his master and Valhalla from imminent destruction.

Skies of Valhalla, -unknown-

"This is gonna be a close one..."

Dante's blue eyes gleamed with intensity as he leaped from building to building to reach the roof of Etro's temple, his skin felt the sudden heat of the two meteors that threatened to engulf the whole of Valhalla. The darkened skies of Valhalla began to emanate a red light and without warning, red streaks of lightning began to flash through the skies of the desolate wasteland as Dante reached the temple of Etro. He arrived at the entrance to see Lightning still unconcious, he let out a sigh and a small smile formed on his lips as he observed the pinkette's sleeping form.

"Heh...you're still asleep huh? let's hope you stay that way until this thing is over."

he questioned out to her in mirth, his blood dripping onto the floor he stood on; his gaze then moved from her to the meteors above him, as he spared her once last glance; his eyes flickered from blue to a fill of yellow, bright as the sun yet holding a dangerous edge. The red lightning splashed downwards towards the plains of Valhalla as Dante looked on. The streaks of lightning hit random locations of the city of the dead. Slowly he drew out Rebellion from his back and jumped into the sky above him. Red lightning flashed through the air as the meteors iniched closer and closer to it's designarted target.

"Here goes!"

A red flash of light tore through the sky and as it died down, a terryfying sight etched onto the sky, the legendary son of Sparda had awakened his inheritance and in a blur of speed like a comet, he thrust Rebellion forward and tore through the two meteors.

Ruins of Valhalla, -unknown-

Down below on the barren lifeless wasteland of Valhalla, both Odin and the majin clashed against each other, generating sparks as their blades danced against each other, Odin knew that if he let up even for an inch, he would be finished in a heart beat. The intensity of sparks produced from their clashes gave way to burning fire that slowly etched onto the grayish dark ground of Valhalla. As their eyes met each other in another clash of wills, Odin's eyes widened momentarily as he felt a surge of power eminating from the skies, he pushed the majin back as a red streak of lightning hit the location of their stalemate. HIs green eyes looked onto the blackened skies of Valhalla to see a myriad of red streaks of lightning tearing through it's dark cover.

The majin did similarly and looked upwards to the skies, it's red eyes flashing in surprise to see a red blur running across the sky, he knew it was and he was in awe at the immense amount of power that as being displayed before them.

"Such power..." it whispered, unable to grasp the magnitude of what he was seeing "to think...he was witholding all this power."

Odin and the devil arms however took the momentary distraction and moved forward to strike down the majin, it jumped back effortlessly but not before a small chip of the red gem on it's chest was broken by a slash from Agni. It's red eyes widened in horror as it brought up his left arm and covered it, shielding it from any more damage. Kneeling down, he looked up to Odin who stood without emotion readying another strike. He stopped however and took a step back in surprise to see a black haze oozing out from the form of the majin.

"You..." began the now enraged majin "you have no possible idea of what would happen if you destroyed this!"

Odin was taken back at the enraged shout of the majin, but one thing he did know was that the black haze oozing out from his opponent was chaos, pure chaos; something that even eidolons dreaded. The devil arms felt a surge of power eminating from the majin as the ground beneath them began blowing up dust and rock particles away from the majin.

"This power..." murmured Cerberus "Mundus was the only one capable of controlling chaos in it's pure form.."

"You have no idea what kind of power you are dealing with!" shouted out an enraged Rudra, much to the surprise of the participants around him.

"Oh?..." scoffed the majin "but I do..."

It stood up once more and readied itself for the next set of attacks from his opponent, Odin looked uneasy as he studied his opponent infront of him. "Eidolon! we must destroy that gem on his chest; there is no possible way he can control it! that power is only meant to keep the universe in balance!..."

Odin nodded his head and readied himself for another round, bringing up agni and Irifit before him, he created a wall of flame infront of himself casuing the ground below him to burm, with the power of Rudra, he created a tornado that moved to hit the majin; he dodged it with ease and leaped to the right, Odin followed suit with another barrage of slashes. Odin blinked noticing the decreasing defense of the majin, he was making dents in his opponent's armor. The majin on being driven into a corner pushed Odin away and dragged it's feet against the dust of the ground.

"Those fools have no possible idea what lies in wait if they destroy this limiter..." thought the majin "was it a mistake to use this form?...this risk is too great."

Before he could continue another round of his thoughts, an explosion rocked the very skies of Valhalla, the ground shook from the impact and all eyes lay on the debries and smoke that cluttered the skies of Valhalla. It's red eyes widened to see the two meteors he had summoned all but torn apart into tiny chunks of rocks, he knew the cause; he just couldn't believe it.

"Impossible...how can one man posses such power?" he questioned out.

"This is the end!" roared an enraged Cerberus, without a moment to defend, the majin's eyes widened in despair as Agni and Rudra tore through the chest and shattered the red limiter. A moment passed and then an explosion eminated from the majin with a cry of immense of pain, Odin was pushed back and hit the ground with his back dragging across the dust laden battlefied of Valhalla.

"Is it finished?" questioned a cautious Irifit.

Their answer came all too swiftly as the dust finally cleared, Odin's eyes widened to find the Majin kneeling, a black haze spilled out from him and a pool of black liquid formed around him ,a black explosion eroded the whole ground once more. Odin and the devil arms braced for the impact. Dust, ash and smoke all hitting them all at once.

"Well that takes care of that"

Dante mused to himself and landed upon the roof of the temple of Etro, he clapped his hands together; dust running away from the gloves he wore. "Huh…." He placed his right hand on his stomach, the gaping hole that had tormented his body was gone now. He had his demonic form to thank for that. His blue eyes watched as chunks of the meteorite scattered all around the ruins of Valhalla.

Kneeling down on his right knee, he blinked to see a haze of dark liquid pouring out itself onto the barren wasteland of Valhalla along with an explosion of cumulated and eroded the ground beneath the towers of the unseen realm.

"Great…" he motioned out, his head swaying to the right "What now?"

His answer also came all too swiftly as the remains of the explosion faded into the nothingness of the barren wasteland and in it's place was the majin now striking a different appearance, from it's blackened armor, white spikes protruded out from it and from where Dante stood, it would seem that the majin's size had doubled, it's eyes glowed red with malice and Dante felt a chill run up his spine at the very sight of the beast. A death screaming roar christened the birth of the new majin form and Dante looked on in surprise as white claws protruded itself out from the hands of the majin.

"Heh…." Dante let out a chuckle, a bead of sweat rolled down at the side of his head "Mundus felt like a joke compared to this thing…I better get down there befo-"

His statement was cut off as a deathly scream silenced his musings, his eyes widened to see the majin ripping off each of the devil arms from Odin, "What the hell?! what kind of speed is that?!" Dante thought out in surprised dread and immediately his eyes widened and in an instant, the dreaded new form of the majin was before him but not alone, in it's claws, Odin's right leg lay captured. Dante looked to the captured Eidolon and then all too swiftly, the Majin planted Odin onto Dante along with the devil arms. He and Odin both crashed down into the tower beneath them and to the very depths of the building's foundation. The majin then launched itself onto the barren wasteland letting out another roar of dominance, the tower then crumbled onto the ground crashing into dust and rubble

A few minutes passed and below the ruins of the destroyed tower, Dante let out a groan and pushed a huge chunk of derbies off of himself "Damn…..that hurt" his blue eyes caught the glimpse of Odin under a pillar of rocks, he then walked towards the rock and shoved them out of the way. Electricity danced and sparks flew as Dante looked onto the battered Eidolon and his beloved devil arms.

"Looks like your turn is over, you guys….." he let out a disgruntled sigh as he heard the echo of the majin's roar. His head turned to the blackened sea of chaos and he watched as the majin slowly hovered above it letting out roar after roar.

"The hell is he doing now?..." Dante questioned out in annoyance.

His answer came all too swiftly and he watched as the blackened sea beneath his foe began to swirl, he slowly rose to his feet as he watched the majin and swirling tides beneath it. the waters warped and transistioned into an inward tornado, a whirlpool. The devil hunter's eyes narrowed and he blinked at the sound of thunder, his blue eyes raised itself upwards into the blackened sky of Valhalla, his eyes widened ever so slightly as he looked into the black abyss above him, a similar apparition had begun to form in the skis above him. The skies warped and he watched as a barrier appeared and from it, a gate. Without another thought, Dante grasped Rebellion and began to make his way towards the blackened sea.

Hordes of monsters infused with chaos began to pour out from the darkened sea, Dante stopped as he heard a weak call to him, he didn't turn around rather stood still "You can't fight anymore, so just stay down"

Odin's emerald eyes looked at him and a staredown ensued, the battered Eidolon slowly rose to it's feet along with his infused devil arms. Blue eyes met emerald; neither of them backed down and Dante began to speak again "You wanna head to the scrap pile that bad? well...then go ahead."

"Master, we shall take care of things here...you must follow that beast; it seems he is opening the gate to reach Earth, we don't know what will happen if the chaos spreads there as well...you must stop him" explained Agni, the other devil arms and Odin remained silent as they looked on at the devil hunter. Dante let out an amused grunt

"Leave things to you guys?...the pony over there can barely stand...man, what a stubborn lot, fine; do what you want..." Dante agreed and both his eyes and Odin's turned towards the majin who had slowly begun his ascent into the now opened portal.

"Quickly! you must go!" shouted Cerberus and without another second to waste, Dante blitzed towards the sea where the monsters moved to attack him. Chaos fused eidolons and monsters moved to cut him down but much to his surprise Odin had struck them down and covered him slowly making a path open to him. Dante didn't care either way, using the monsters as platforms, he jumped from and onto each of them and slowly caught up to the gate. The majin however had already passed through the gate, Dante gritted his teeth and with an influx of his demonic power, he launched himself into the gate as well leaving Odin to face the chaos infused army himself.

"Well...we did want a battle" muttered Rudra.

"Even if we go down, I'll go down fighting brother!" Agni shouted.

"Yes...this is where we are destined to be on the battlefield!" added Irifit.

"We shall win!" Cerberus roared, Odin followed cue and with a burst of speed began ploughing through the army, striking each of them down with finesse and style, not a scratch could be made on him but even him and the devil arms had to wonder, how much could they take before they would fall?...no, failing wasn't an option...not here. With a unified resolve; they began their attack.

Dimensional gate, -unknown-

Dante spared his allies a glance before he was consumned by the blinding light of the gate, he blinked and in an instant; the darkened sky around him changed into a blood red sky, he landed on one of the buildings and surveyed his surroundings, he was in Fortuna once more, he blinked and looked above to see the gate still open.

"That's strange"...he murmurmed, he stepped forward a bit "That gate should've been closed the moment I came back here..."

He looked around surveying his surroundings and then all too immediately a sense of dread covered him, in an instant; he siphoned himself away and onto the ground beneath him, the building came down in a flash and Dante watched as the building shattered into pieces and fell down onto the ground. He hoisted Rebellion over his shoulder as he awaited his attacker.

"That wasn't very nice..." he stated, his left hand swaying from right to left.

He watched as blood red eyes appeared in the dust, a low grow reached his ears as he readied himself for an assault. His eyes widened as an explosion covered the area in front of him, he moved back a bit as his eyes narrowed and out from the dust, a slim figure flipped out from it and then landed onto a small building adjacent to where Dante stood and glanced at him with her heterochromia eyes.

"Lady..." he murmumed, this wasn't good "Hey, what the hell are you doing here?"

Dante called out, he wasn't happy to see her, not one bit especially with the opponent he was now facing, he feared for her safety; this wasn't an opponent that she could handle much to his dismay, Lady looked down from her eagle perched view and placed her left hand on her hip carrying her infamous Kalinna Ann.

"Is that the thanks I get for helping you out!?" she called back, seemingly irritated with the infamous demon hunter.

"Get the hell outta here, this isn't someone you can fight!" He warned her, he didn't want anything to happen to her or anyone else, "I can handle myself just fine!" she answered, he grew agitated as the woman seemingly ignored his complaints and looked down at him in a mocking fashion, the air around him shifted and he felt it, it was strange and foreign to him and once more he called out to her but not before another figure appeared to a building opposite to her clad in black, he inwardly groaned. "Her too? what the hell is their problem!? can't they listen for once?!"

"Trish! I thought I tol-"

"I know, I was feeling a bit bored though so I wanted to come see what all the fuss was about, don't worry about the people...Patty and Kyrie are with them." she answered, Lady just smirked as Dante grew agitated and his eyes widened at the mention of "Patty". He shouted out to them.

"Patty!? why the hell is she here!?" Dante called out, putting her in danger was out of the question.

"She wanted to come along for the ride so I obliged" Lady answered, smirking at him.

Dante levelled a glare at her, he had to have known...of course it should've been Lady, "The two of you scram, I ca-"

A roar echoed out form the dust and Dante's eyes widened as the majin appeared behind Lady, Trish called out to her immediately and Lady looked back in surprise; bringing up her beloved Bazooka, she moved to block the claws of the majin,

"Lady!"

Dante and Trish's eyes widened as Kalinna Ann was torn in two and Lady was stabbed straight through her chest and stomach. Dante stopped as Lady's scream tore through the air, locked in a trance. Trish moved to save her comrade as lightning began to form in her right hand, she blinked as the majin disappeared and watched as Lady fell down onto the roof of a building.

"What?!..where-urgh!" she gasped out as blood ran down her mouth and the right claw of the majin had stabbed into her from the back, she gasped once more as the majin applied force and then seemingly implanted her into the ground, a small crater formed from the impact and a pool of blood seeped down from the battered woman's body.

Dante stood mesmerised at what had just happened, his hands shook and Rebellion fell down from his right hand, he was shaken..."No...this is just like...then" he thought out in despair, the screams of his mother tearing through his ears and her bloodied body murdered in cold blood by demons, he couldn't prevent it then and he shuddered...he didn't prevent it now, all reason flew from him as he watched the majin slowly arise from the crater. He blinked as he heard Trish moaned out in agony, her eyes slowly turned to look at him.

"D...an...te" she whispered, "Th..ank...you..."

"No! Don't!" Dante shouted as he grabbed Rebellion and moved forward. All he saw next was a smile on her face and then he watched as a yellow flicker of lightning began emitting itself from her injured body.

"Trish!"

He watched in despair as she used the last of her energy to electrocute the majin, an explosion occurred as a trail of dust and ash covered the entire area. Dante stood in awe and in a trance but as the dust cleared, the majin stood beside Trish's body, not even a scratch on him. Losing all reason, all his senses, red lightning flicked from Dante's form as he let out a scream of despair and then the sky's slowly turned black and his demon form flickered to life, his hands shook with rage as he gripped Rebellion tightly and glared at his adversary, there was no time mourning as his orange eyes flickered with lightning.

His rage had blinded him as he began his assault.
