i'm just alone, destiny forgotten, even though i kept going {Refrain:2, Hikari}

Sora sat on the tire swing, twisting around so that the ropes holding it curved around the other. Riku stood against the tree, watching him.

"I've missed Destiny, Riku. You're the only one who remembered me." Sora muttered wistfully, kicking at white sand. They were on their special island, not too far from the secret place.

Riku scowled, silvery hair pushed back by a sudden breeze. "No one was supposed to remember."

Sora shrugged, mock glaring at Riku. He looked in the same direction as Riku, humming softly. "…it's only fair you tell me what went on before KH. I told you about Twilight."

For a long moment it was silent and Riku rolled his shoulders tensely. "You know I don't like to talk about this."

"So?" Riku looked sharply at the shorter boy.

Sora, when he wanted to be, could be so painfully cruel. The old Sora never had the heart to do it; but years of missions, assassinations had turned him into something else. It wasn't noticeable in Hollow Bastion, where he was about to head off to Twilight.

His lips thinned into a straight line before he swallowed and said, "They were waiting there, at the Secret Place. They knew how much hatred I had for Dad after finding out he'd left mom and I for KH and got himself killed. They found out I was his son, and I…just wanted revenge."

I was jealous, too.

Looking at her…and you…

The rivalry we always held…

Finally had a winner.

Riku looked over at Sora, who absent mindedly looked out over the rest of Destiny Islands. A mixture of guilt and regret stirred in his abdomen. Maybe none of this would have happened if Riku hadn't gone with them and dragged Sora along with it too.

Riku stared out at the dying sun. He was getting restless from being out of commission.

"Naminé."

Riku looked back at him sharply. "What?"

Sora's eyes looked red rimmed and he looked much older. His posture slouched and his knuckles were white from gripping at nothing too hard. "That's was her name. I met her…and…" He hadn't meant for his voice to come out so hoarse.

"Stop talking." It made him cringe, seeing Sora in that state.

Sora laughed harshly.

"Kairi, I can't wait for the festival to come!" Selphie cried, stretching as soon as they got out of the building. "Tomorrow's going to be great! I miss corn on the cob."

Kairi smiled sweetly at Selphie. "I know. But, you're looking forward to the dance aren't you?"

The younger girl pouted. "Of course! And I get to do my flute solo, too!"

How could she forget? Selphie was always known in the village for her skill in flute playing. Everyone knew it. Kairi nodded enthusiastically, but was suddenly reminded. "Selphie…we still need members for Lit club."

"About that…" Selphie trailed off a little sheepishly.

"…yes?" Kairi wasn't so sure about her tone of voice.

"I asked Riku to join…and he said yes…" Selphie laughed nervously. Kairi stopped walking. "…Kairi? It's fine, right?"

She no words for this in all honesty. Nowadays, she was growing a little less shy around Riku and more so around Sora. If he's in Lit club with them, how awkward would it be between the three of them? It's already weird with Selphie in the group. She'll probably go on with her nonsense of triangles and stereotypes.

But, that was just a tiny reason.

It was enough that Riku had always been so careful around her. With the addition of him around, it made her feel like glass. Riku and Sora seemed already close; she would feel left out even with the company of Selphie.

She glanced back at a sudden sheepish Selphie. "Sel…"

The younger girl poked her fingers and scratched the back of her head. "…just wanted to spice things up, Kai…"

Maybe her love life was lacking a little, but didn't it seem like a cry of attention? Both Sora and Riku coming and- -

"Selphie, you're brilliant!"

"What- -I am?"

"Because of those two, now we can have more members!" Kairi pumped a fist in triumph. Lit club would be saved! "With their popularity, more girls will join!"

Selphie frowned. Kairi was totally missing out on the point or was ignoring it. But, if it made her happy to see it in another way, she guessed it was okay. Lately, it seemed as though Kairi had a lot on her mind. Shrugging it off, Selphie brought the topic back to the festival. "Anyways, what are you wearing to the festival? Everyone's dancing at the end."

"Remember, last week I said I was saving that white dress, the one with frills, for the festival." Kairi fingered a strand of hair and whistled, thinking about the dress. She could imagine herself swirling in the sand, her hand in her partner's; staring deeply into his blue eyes- -

Wait. Riku didn't have blue eyes. He had green eyes.

She shook her head abruptly.

What is she thinking?

"Kai, you okay?"

"Huh? Y-yeah, I'm fine." Kairi gave a faltered smile at a confused Selphie who shrugged once more at her friend's antics.

"Anyways, as I was saying, I picked out this really cute yellow dress to wear…" Selphie had taken on a one sided conversation as Kairi was too lost in thought over blue eyed boys who are too secretive for her liking.

She stepped foot off the ferry, her white dress fluttering behind her in the sea breeze. She focused on surveying the area, eying the island's beauty and trying to imagine him here, as a regular student enjoying life.

"So, Sora, this must be your home town." She murmured. Her companion, an elderly servant helped her gather her small suitcase.

"Miss, I suggest that we check into your hotel for the night. I'm sure the travel has made you quite weary."

She shook her head, her blonde hair swishing against her back. She pressed her white sunhat on top her head to keep it from flying away. "Alright, Hayato, but I want to explore the place. Is his address near the hotel?"

"It is a mere six blocks away. Are you hoping to come into contact with him?"

"No, not today." She murmured more to herself than to Hayato. As they walked along the Boardwalk amongst the crowd of people, she could see a crowd of people setting up stands and streamers all over the town's main area. "What do you suppose is going on here today, Hayato? It sure seems busy."

"It appears to me that they townsmen is preparing for a festival. Perhaps not today, though, Miss. I'm sure it'll start tomorrow, seeing that it'll be a free day for everyone."

A small amused smile danced upon her soft lips, and she pressed a finger upon them. "I can't wait then."

Sora lay in bed, overly focused on the ceiling. He had to forget the past. It didn't do anything for him. Besides, wasn't he here for something else?

That's right, she's here. He smiled. She's gotten to be so beautiful and healthy. And that's all he needed to move on with.

He was here to get peace for himself.

But, somehow, when he turned to look at the window, a feeling of bad fortune to come filled him.
