CHAPTER TEN.
Anakin closed his eyes and sighed as he stood in the small training arena, staring down at his lightsaber in his hand. It had been nineteen years since he'd used it, nineteen years without any kind of training or practice. Closing his eyes, Anakin sighed and shook his head in defeat.
He turned to leave, only to find Felicia standing in his way. "I never would have thought I'd see you give up."
Sighing softly, Anakin shrugged. "I haven't held a lightsaber, or any other weapon, in nineteen years." What exactly did she expect him to do? "Whatever skill I had before, is probably lost_"
"You don't know that," Felicia snapped as she cut him off. "And I don't believe it either."
Shaking his head, Anakin sighed in frustration, "Step aside."
Unclipping her lightsaber, Felicia shrugged, "Fight me."
Rolling his eyes, Anakin shook his head and tried to push past her.
Felicia raised a hand and pushed him back, "If you want me to believe that you really can't fight..." Felicia ignited her lightsaber and lifted her chin, "...Then prove me wrong."
Closing his eyes, Anakin sighed and shook his head. "Has anyone ever told you that you're incredibly stubborn?"
"Almost everyone I've ever met," Felicia said with a grin, "Now quit stalling."
Igniting his lightsaber, Anakin sighed and shook his head. "This is pointless."
"Maybe..." Raising her lightsaber, Felicia smiled and stepped towards him. "Or maybe, you should learn to have a little more faith in yourself."
Anakin frowned as he realised that he had instinctively moved into a defensive position, his lightsaber ignited and raised, his entire body was poised, ready.
Felicia's lightsaber was a sliver-blue blur, as she made the first move; a rapid blow, coming fast and low to the left.
Anakin's eyes went wide as he moved, once again instinctively, blocking her with ease. Felicia stepped back, raising her lightsaber to attack again, Anakin lunged forward, pushing his advantage with a series of rapid blows from side to side.
As they broke apart, Anakin spun his lightsaber in a figure-eight in front of him. His face split into a wide grin as he looked at Felicia, "Don't hold back."
Laughing, Felicia grinned, her eyes gleaming as she lunged at Anakin. "That's not in my nature!"

"I still can't believe she didn't tell us who she was," Luke shook his head, "she lied to us for months, and if Dad hadn't recognised her, she'd probably still be lying to us."
Obi-wan frowned at Luke, "She was just scared, Luke. She's been running and hiding her entire life."
Snorting, Luke shook his head. "This is the Rebellion, we're the good guys." Luke raised his eyebrows, "What exactly could be so frightening?"
"We're strangers," Taking a deep breath, Obi-wan sighed, "You heard what she said, she's obviously been betrayed before." Shrugging, Obi-wan spread his hands, "If you were in her shoes, would you really have done any different?"
Luke sighed softly, "Probably not." Frowning, he shook his head. "I can't imagine what she's been through..." To be so mistrustful and suspicious that she had hidden her identity from even the Jedi, who would have welcomed her with open arms, her life must have been hell. "... She must have been so lonely."
"I imagine she would have been," Obi-wan agreed, his expression sympathetic. He had no doubt that Felicia would have been very lonely and terrified, and after being on her own for so long, it wasn't really surprising that she didn't trust anyone, or that the only person she believed she could rely on was herself, although she did trust Anakin, at least, more than she trusted anyone else.
The two smiled when they noticed Padme coming towards them. "Hi mom," Luke said, "are you going to check on dad?"
Padme smiled back at them, "Actually yes, I was heading that way. I am a little worried... Felicia told me she wanted to try and spar with Anakin but..." Shaking her head, padme sighed softly, "... he was worried last night, he kept saying that he didn't think he'd be able to fight anymore." She smiled tightly, "It was why I convinced him to at least try today."
Obi-wan stroked his beard as he thought about his former padawan. "Well, normally I would say that Anakin would be up for the challenge, but nineteen years is a long time."
Luke shook his head. "I don't know what you two are worried about, even if he is rusty now, it's nothing a little practice won't fix."
Obi-wan held his hand in the direction they were heading, "Shall we?"

They were approaching the training arena, when they noticed the distinctive sounds of two lightsabers striking together, rapidly and repeatedly.
Slowing down, Luke grinned at Obi-wan, "Do you think it's Dad?"
"If it is, he's going to get a huge 'I told you so' from me," Padme said with a smile.
Cocking his head, Obi-wan raised his eyebrows. "Whoever it is, they certainly sound like they're getting serious."
As they entered, Padme's eyes widened in shock as she watched Anakin fight in stunned silence.
Neither Anakin of Felicia noticed their arrival, they were both too focused on their 'fight'. Though it scarcely seemed possible, they were fighting so swiftly already, Anakin and Felicia increased their speed.
Holding his breath, amazed, Luke watched the two Jedi put on a display of unmatched skill. Strike— block— parry— evade— bind— counter bind— countermeasure— broken time— body-to-body and double release— Force push— Force pull— feint— backflip— recover... And start again.
As they took a brief pause, Padme noticed that Anakin was sweating and out of breath; his body was also shaking slightly. These details did not go unnoticed by Luke or Obi-wan either, and the latter decided to step in and put the spar on hold.
"Well, Anakin. I think it's safe to say you haven't gotten rusty during your imprisonment," He said, walking towards Anakin and Felicia as they stopped their fight to face him. Smiling at Felicia, Obi-wan inclined his head, "That was impressive."
Breathing hard, Anakin nodded in agreement, "That was very impressive." He said, his voice shaky as he fought to catch his breath.
As he joined them, Luke frowned slightly. "How did you learn to use a lightsaber that well?"
Shrugging, Felicia clipped her lightsaber onto her belt, "I taught myself."
