I was startled awake the next day by a sudden pounding at my door, still half sleep I hurried out of my bed and groped blindly for a robe to cover myself. Once I had it secured I made my way to the door and opened it, I was already annoyed from being woken up so early in the day but I was even more annoyed seeing who it was.
"What do you want Kah, why have you come here so early?" He entered the room without my permission and took to sitting in a chair at my study table.
"I have come to see my future wife, is that a crime now?"
I didn't like the way he was acting, I usually didn't anyway but he was being particularly more obnoxious than normal.
"No, of course it is not, but you are here very early, the sun still has not fully emerged." I said, gesturing to the widow and the darkness that lay beyond it.
"I heard about what happened yesterday and I needed to speak to you."
"About what, Kah, mother and father already addressed it and I don't think you have the authority to comment about it."
He stood quickly and within a second he had me pressed against the wall, his dark eyes staring intently into mine, it would be a lie to say that he did not scare me in that moment.
"I do have authority to comment when something of mine is involved!" He growled, towering over me.
"I am not yours, with the way you're acting right now I never will be!"
"Ah, yes, because you and my brother have something going on between you, is that right," I didn't answer. "Well, how would you feel if brother were to die suddenly?" That got a reaction from me and Kah smiled.
"You wouldn't."
"It would be easy to poison him, my hand could just slightly slip over his cup in the morning, then he wouldn't be such a problem."
"Please, don't." I sighed in defeat
"Then I suggest that you not talk to him again, I do not want you anywhere around him, if you tell him of this little exchange then he will die a worse death than some little poison. Am I understood?"
"Yes." I whispered lowly, I felt all kinds of emotions in that moment, I was angry, confused, sad, the worst of this situation was that I had just started getting to know Ahkmen and to not be able to be around his positive and protecting aura was the worst punishment.
"Good, I expect to see you at breakfast," He made his way to the door "remember what I said." Were his last words and he was gone.
I slammed the door behind him, the heavy wood making a big sound throughout my room before it was replaced by the sound of me crying. I leaned back against the door then slid down to the floor, I sat there until the sun was finally high in the sky and it was time for breakfast. I gathered myself from off the floor and began my morning routine, once I was prepared and dressed I took a deep breath, held my head high, with my shoulders back as if there were nothing wrong. I stepped out of the room and my heart raced as I spotted Ahkmenrah walking down the hall to the room, when he spotted me a smile graced his face, it made me want to begin crying again.
"Isis," He greeted as he got closer. "You look beautiful today, just as you always do." He grabbed my hand and brought it up to his mouth to kiss and I held back tears as I thought of what I had to do.
"Ahkmen," I began, slipping my hand out of his "I cannot do this with you, we cannot see each other anymore."
The smile on his face automatically disappeared with my words.
"What do you mean, my love?"
"I do not want to be with you, I am betrothed to your brother, it is not right of us to have any feeling between us." I could not look him in the eyes as the words passed my lips.
"No, you are lying, Isis, what has my brother said to you for you to act this way?" He was clearly upset, one of his hands laid upon my waist and other on my cheek.
"He has done nothing, I.. love him." I choked on the words as I stepped away from him and his hands fell from their place.
"You're lying."
"I am not, I'm very sorry Ahkmenrah." With those last words and a desperate look at him I left, getting as far as I could from him before crying once again.
If this was the only thing to keep him safe from Kahmunrah's deceiving ways then so be it.
"Ah, darling, there you are. Come, sit." Kah spoke as I walked into room. Father and Mother had already taken their seats at one end of the long table while Kah sat at the other end, I was to sit next to him.
Kah stood, pushing the chair out for me, then sitting after I was settled. There were times when he reminded me of the old Kah, the one that I enjoyed being around. He may act like an ass at times but I knew how nice he really could be.
"How did you sleep?" He asked, after kissing the back of my hand.
"Fine." I lied, giving him a side glare.
Because of him my sleep was disturbed.
"And how did you sleep, my prince?" I asked, pretending like I cared.
"Just fine, Rah blessed my dreams and I awoke very refreshed."
"I am glad to see you both getting along." Father's deep voice said from across the table.
If only he knew the real reason why we were "getting along".
"Where is Ahkmenrah?" Mother wondered aloud.
"Would you like me to check to see if he has awaken, Mother?" Kah asked, getting up frim his seat.
"Yes, please do." Kah began to leave and my heart jumped, I prayed to the Gods that he didn't hurt Ahkmen in any way.
Narrators P.O.V.
Kahmunrah knew exactly where his brother would be, he had witnessed what happened between Isis and Ahkmen, he had watched unseen as she rejected him. His brother would surely be sulking in his hideaway and that is exactly where he found him.
"Mother wants you to come eat, brother."
"I am not hungry." Ahkmen answered, turning to glare at his elder brother.
"What is wrong, dear brother, are you upset that Isis does not desire you?"
His words angered Ahkmen, the youngest brother lashed out, pinning Kah against the wall.
"What did you say to her?!
"You seem to be confused, I said nothing to her, maybe after yesterday's endeavors she decided that you were unworthy of her time."
"No, she loves me!" Ahkmen stated, pushing Kah more into the wall, Kah pushed back, having the younger one stumble back.
"If she does, it matters not, she is mine and forever will be!"
"She is not your property, you cannot claim her!"
"I can do as I please, I am the future king of Egypt and anything I say goes! This discussion is over and if you do not stay away from my future wife I will be forced to kill you!" Kah left, leaving his little brother speechless but determined.
He wouldn't let Kah get away with this, not when the woman he loved was involved.
Hello everyone, I am so sorry for the long hiatus, writers block is the very worst and I still have yet to see Night at the museum 3, so, there has been a big delay. I also decided to change their ages, so now they are 17(Ahkmenrah and Isis) and 20 (Kahmunrah), only because I'll be writing smut soon and it would be wrong, awkward and pretty gross to write about some kids doing the do lol!
Even though in ancient Egypt they actually did have children at 14, it's just not something I want to imagine or write about. Sorry for the change in details!
Anyway, what do you think about this chapter? Please let me know and thank you to everyone who has recently reviewed, favored and followed this story even though it has been a long time since I updated. I know there are some mistakes, sorry, I'll fix them.
