You glance over at Marshall's sleeping visage, and you can't help yourself when you laugh at the slight string of slobber hanging from the side of his mouth. His jaw hung wide open, one arm flung far off to the side, and you found yourself laying on the other one. Even after such...active nights as the one you two had shared before, you woke promptly at sunrise to complete the day's duties. Marshall had a tendency to sleep here all day, which is why you were in one of the guest bedrooms instead of your own. You had a feeling the Peppermint Maid would not approve of the sight of a nude vampire in the princely bedsheets.
Although you knew you had to get up and begin your day, you had to stop and admire you lover as he slept. In contrast to his waking self, the Vampire King was quite peaceful in his sleep. His face was softer, rounder, and he looked like a young boy who stumbled his way through the world on his own, for far too long. A boy that just needed some love, who enjoyed his fun, who you lo-
"What's wrong?" the now-alert Marshall asked, his eyes squinting in the diluted light and was sitting half propped on the arm that didn't have a grip on you. You blushed at having been caught staring. You got very flustered very fast and fumbled at an answer for him.
"No-nothing, just trying not you wake you, I have to get going you know, the kingdom is waking up and I need to-" Lips muffled your words and stole your breath with a kiss. You completely forgot anything you meant to say.
"You talk too much, PG." Marshall said with a smirk before resting his head against yours and sighing. "Why can't you stay with me again? Blah blah kingdom blah, why can't you take off a personal day to just," wrapping both of his arms around you and hauling you into his lap, you were forced into an impromptu cuddle with him, "hang out with some friends?" Marshall Lee nibbled slighly and the pink on your neck, which tickled and made you squirm. You didn't budge an inch from his lap though. Then you calmed down, and stopped to consider his words.
"It would take a bit of planning, but... what if we met over at your place, say, tomorrow night? I can make some arrangements, and perhap I could spend a day out of the public eyes. How about that?" You saw the shock in his eyes, before he recovered and replied.
"Alright, PG, we could do that." A genuine grin spread across his lips."Yeah, I think I'd like that." Butterflies went crazy in your stomach at the sight of his happy smile, and you felt the warmth of a blush spread across your cheeks again. Impulsively, you kissed him deeply before wriggling from his grasp and bouncing towards your clothing.
"Well then, seems like I've got a busy day ahead of me. Best get a good headstart on it, and-" Marshall was suddenly floating right behind you, arms on your waist, with his face was pressed to the back your head, buried in disheveled hair. He mumble something unintelligible, and you had to ask for a repeat. But he was still no louder.
"For Glob's sake Marshall, say it to the front of my head instead of the back so I can actually hear what your saying!" You didn't intend to raise your voice so much and Marshall jumped a bit before blurting out, with practially no thought, "Gumball, I love you!"
He looked petrified, and vampire-disappeared into thin air faster than you could reply. You were stunned. You probably wouldn't have been able to say anything back anyways.
Marshall may have been the magical floating vampire, but you were almost certain your feet didn't touch the ground at all the rest of the day. And the smile never left your face.
