DISCALIMER: I don't own a thing from Tales of Destiny, okay? No Stahn, no Lion, nothing and no one. That belongs to Namco Bandai. All I really own is the game for Playstation.

A Hypothetical Coincidence

Light slowly faded, the a field coming into view around the blond. Where was he? Where were Rutee, Kyle, and Loni? What had-? Blue eyes turned towards the stream as the sound running waters met his ears. It all seemed far too peaceful. Though something told him that he was to cross to the other side of it. Stahn took a few steps closer, kneeling down to run a hand through the moving liquid. He realized it was definitely not a dream, material covering his fingers soaked with water, drops falling back into the stream after he rose it to get a closer look.

"What are you doing here?" An all too familiar voice demanded, causing the blond to quickly turn partially to his side as a young raven-haired male waded across the water. "You idiot! You're not supposed t-!" His words were cut short, a body with practically forty pounds more than himself throwing itself towards him and succeeding in knocking them both down into the stream. Violet eyes glared up at him, water dripping from dark bangs.

Though his words were struck silent in his throat at the sigh of the older male's happy grin. "Man, I can't believe you're here too! I mean, I thought you-" Stahn froze, soon to be shoved aside and off of Lion. "Where…is here?"

The younger stood, giving a disdainful look towards the idiot blond, arms crossing. "I would think even you could figure it out." He stalked over to the side of the stream that Stahn had come from without quite realizing which side he'd been drawn towards. "You may be an idiot, but do I really have to spell something like this out for you?" Lion's mind was racing unnoticeably, wondering why Stahn was there and how long it had been in the realm of the living since he left it.

"You mean I'm…." His voice trailed, eyes widening as the country-bred hick got to his feet, a feeling drawing him towards the opposite bank. "But I- I'm not supposed to-" He knew what the former knight was hinting at: after all, it was well known that Lion Magnus had died saving the older male and his friends… Yes, his friends, seeing as the raven-haired brat wouldn't dare have lowered himself to consider any of them as friends.

"Dead, Stahn." Lion cut him off, spinning to stare for a moment as the blond moved closer to the other side. Something had told him to come by around that time, but he han't known it was because the idiot hayseed was to be getting there. He turned away, unable to look at the other any longer, footsteps taking him further and further away and towards the path Stahn had taken to arrive there. "You weren't supposed to die after what I did for you…and everyone." His last were lost to the blond, but just as he was almost too far off a shout made him stop dead in his tracks.

"LION, I-!"

The younger turned, waiting to hear what it was the hayseed had to say. Though after a moment or two of silence, he resumed upon the path away from the stream.

Eyelids fell, covering blue orbs as the blond dropped to sit upon the ground, no longer wishing to stare at his young friend from across the water. That was it then…If Lion was there, surely he was dead.
