Oh Didyme…

Chapter Eight

Caius POV

The covens once healed left to find help to gather their own allies; the first to arrive was the Romanians, their faces set in neutrality but a fire burned as Athendora stepped forward, her ebony hair pulled back to reveal a new wound, that of a wolf's claw.

"We will help you Gaius. Those beasts took my child from me and I will help you find your mate, my brothers will help and for now all hate and proclamation of war and vengeance between them and you will be deceased." She states, her jaw set into that of malice, not of me or my coven but of the wolves.

"I didn't know you had a child Dora, I am sorry for the loss." I whisper as I pull her into an embrace before letting her go back into her mates arms.

"I can do better than what my sister says; if you help us find that one beast we will call truce. Our family will not be broken again and as hard as it is to admit, you were family Caius thus making your sweet Bella part of us." Vladimir states, his voice a rasp and thick.

"Then it will be done, I will help you find that wolf and you help me find my mate. Come first we must test you, we're testing everyone who enters our home even those who are loyal." I gruff out, gesturing to Mary and Jasper in the room. They cast me unamused bland looks but complied.

"Are ye apart of de groop av vampires who attacked an' tuk de queen?" Maggie asks her brogue thicker than normal as she asked the first set of questions.

"No." The Romanians chorus together, gaining a nod from both of our house lie detectors. My hand rubbed my chest as a pang of sorrow and pain reached me.

"Are ye here to 'arm the kings?" She continued and nodded once again when they replied. I couldn't watch or listen, my chest began to ache more than the slight dull pressure it seemed to always have since Isa was taken from me.

This was a burn, a burn that burst from my chest and consumed me much like lastnight only this time it was longer, more prominent. Screams, screams echoing in my head tore them from my very lips as I doubled over. I had felt many agonies, the human pain, my change but this was worse. It was like the very fire of hell had touched my very soul and tried to burn away my light, it felt like I was burning from the inside out and I would have sworn that my flesh should have been ash but it was still the same.

I gagged at the smell of clay and decay, the smell of wolf surrounding me.

"CAIUS!" I heard someone scream and then the pain was gone.

As fast as it came it left, leaving me doubled over breathing heavily onto the stone floor, I pushed myself up, my arms wobbling with weakness I haven't experienced in so long that they collapsed. For a second as my eyes wildly dashed around I could hear and feel my Isa, feel the echo of a heart beat in my chest that all mates have before it vanished again.

I couldn't help but laugh, it bubbled out of me in hysterical relief filled cries of laughter. I was helped to my feet and I cast a look around to everyone who had gathered a smile on my face.

"Brother, what has you smiling?" Aro asks, worry in his eyes causing me to smile wider before it dropped completely as everything began to piece together. That pain was Isa's, that pain was of my mate being tortured to the point of agony that I could feel it. It was a rare thing, for a mate to feel that agonizing pain for the other to feel it as if they were there.

There was a high tolerance of pain that can be handled by a vampire and only one mated pair had ever felt such an experience and that was long ago before my time, before Marcus's. It was tested by the originals, to see how much pain vampires could stand and with mates, not even the very fires to kill us would cause the other mate to feel it, only the sensation of the mating bond severing.

"Isa…"I breathe out, instantly catching the attention all of those around me. "She's… she's alive." I choke out before stumbling to my throne, holding back the rage that wished to consume me and let my beast free once again.

"How… oh god." Marcus chokes out.

"What, what? Someone tell me what is going on and how do you know that my granbaby is alive?" Peter snarls rubbing at his temple.

"I will explain." Stefan states grimly stepping forward.

"As you know my brother and I were the leaders before the Volturi. Not many know is that I am the last of the Original's children. I am the eldest, my brother and sister were mere babes when I was changed and I was the last they experimented on. The originals were savages, they changed many and tortured them to the brink of insanity and that is saying something, we have a high pain tolerance but They found out with enough pain we can stop… permanently." He explains, stunning everyone in their place. His eyes drifted far away and I knew he was reliving those agonizing moments all over again.

"There was a mated pair, my parents, who… They tortured my mamă to the brink that my părinte felt it, lived through that pain with her. For Caius to feel that then Isabella I am afraid is alive and being tortured." He finishes grimly, casting a look at his brother and sister.

Gasps of horror filled the room and then followed by a roar, all eyes snapping to Peter in shock, he was the only one so far besides Jasper to lose his shit. I watched as Jasper charged forward, his face set as he went to contain Peter.

"CAPTAIN!" The harsh sound of the Major's voice echoed over the noise as Jasper, no the Major grasped his arms, but I saw it coming before the others and as soon as the empathy touched the mighty captain he was flying out the hole in the wall, destroying more in the process.

"Jade." I sigh waving my hand for her to do her work and instantly he was frozen in place snarling and struggling.

"Alec, be a pal and help me." She grunts out, Demetri by her side watching on in worry as he keeps his hands on her shoulders.

"No, let me." I state before standing, I gestured for Jane to stop and the instant he was free he charged towards me, stopping when I dropped and snarled. I had no time for this, no time; I needed to find my mate who was being tortured.

I knew Peter was upset but so was everyone else and I was not going to risk anymore people being hurt and I knew deep down that if Peter came back to see destruction of his friends by his hand then there would be no stopping that downfall. I knew along with everyone else that The Captain was something he did well to try and contain, he hated that monster.

"STOP!" I snarl before surging forward and wrapping my arms around his midsection, grunting as his teeth sunk into my shoulder blade, right where a healing wolf's slash was. I let out a hiss and pinned him to the ground, my tattered cloak washing over him and us, my hood covering my head and his when I leant down to speak.

"Listen to me Peter, you need to stop, contain this beast. Isa would not want you this way, return." I commanded and watched as the white of his eyes began to seep back, eating away the black that took over and finished with the dark red they were before.

"Caius, what do we do? My gift won't tell me anything." He breathes out in a near choked sob.

"I don't know Peter, but you can't break on me. You need to be the one kicking my ass for letting my monster free then me to you. It's my job to crumble under the agony…" I trail off, forcing down the sob that threatened to spill.

"You're right; she is your mate, that pain… I can never understand those who could live with that pain." He sighs and finally I let him up, closing my eyes for a brief second before facing Aro.

"Where is Sulpicia?" I ask worriedly, hoping he was able to convince her to leave.

"I am right here where I belong Caius. I refuse to be a queen right now; I will not forsake my heritage and stand idle while my husband, brothers and kingdom go to war to seek my sister." She replies, drawing all eyes to her as she strides in, head high like the true Viking she was. Yes, her mother was a roman but her father was a Viking, a strong noble kind.

"Demetri, Jade, I need you both to go on a scouting, see what direction those beasts went and then report back to us. Take Felix and Santiago with you immediately." I order, not having to turn to gaze at them to know they were already gone before I could finish.

"Caius, ve know they are near our home. Ve do not know vhere, they vere smart to lay multiple trails and to stay far from our home." Stefan mutters in distaste, his nose scrunched up at the thought.

"Well we know the country they are in at least, now we need to wait to see if they make a mistake and when they do I will make Vladimir's Impaling days look like child's play." I snarl darkly as I return to my throne, visions of their deaths and blood bathing my mind.

Oh yes, I will make that time seem like child's play indeed.

A/N: This is very short I know but I've been very busy as of late and I was hoping that this would be enough for now.
