"ATP passes through the electron transport chain," Amber answered.

"Very good," Mrs. Johnson rewarded. "You have a very good grasp on photosynthesis, Ms. Star."

Amber gave a thankful nod. Going back to school was pretty much the worst, but at least Amber had a class she was interested in. Biology was always one of the highlights of her day. It was all, well, biological. It is about real people and animals and how they work. Many of the things learned in class reminded her of her time in the wild. Ecosystems to decomposers, she learns about the world she inhabited in detail. It is the only thing that truly reminded her of home. Before, she would sit next to Jack and the two would really enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, because of last weekend's events, the boy had relocated himself to the other side of the room. It was a relief for her not to have to sit next him, though she could feel his gaze burning into the back of her head.

She still didn't know how to feel about the whole situation. On one hand she was extremely angry at him. She should be. He tried to kiss her while she has a mate. Kits even. But how could he have known? Their relationship had grown over the past few months, but she didn't realize his feelings for her. She thought they were becoming close friends.

A small part of her wondered what would happen if she didn't protest. What would their relationship become? It's not as if she knows how to return to her Clan. And Lionblaze would make a great leader without her.

Crash!

The room become a flurry of motion and sounds, but all she saw were a pair of blue eyes piercing into her soul. Familiar blue eyes. But... how?

The eyes flashed wildly around the room, taking in everything around him. The black haired boy starts walking toward her, ignoring the glass from the broken window covering his arm. Red liquid starts to stain his white shirt.

Numb. That is all she feels numb. Amberstar, usually the first to react, is numb. Because of him. He is in front of her and she is too numb to move. She doesn't have too. He closes the space between them, bringing her into a hug.

"I finally found you," he says with such strong emotion. She doesn't hug back. She can't. Numb. She feels him physically shutter and buries his head in her neck.

Numb. How is this happening? She thinks, this can't be real. He's not- I'm not-

"Excuse me! Young man. What is-" Mrs. Johnson's cries interrupt her scattered thoughts. He breaks their hug and cups her face with his hands.

"We need to get out of here," with that he grabs her arm and she takes her last look at the classroom. Sad brown eyes meet her gaze, never to be seen again. A wave of guilt falls over her, breaking her of her numbness. She turns her head to Jayfeather and smiles. Happiness bubbles within her. He found her. She finally picks up the pace and runs with him. Finally together. Finally home. A wiry haired girl is running next to her, hysterically laughing and somehow still keeping pace. She looked almost familiar. I think I've seen her around school, Amber thinks. What was her name? Alice? Allie? Ellie? Smiling down at the girl was a ginger boy with familiar yellow eyes.

No, she thinks. Fallenleaves?! Seeing her son in human form was more shocking than Jayfeather. Maybe because she wasn't expecting to see him. Maybe because he looked so happy. She looked at the strange group around her. Somehow this was home. She smiled as the group ran on.
