Warning: Coarse language/Cursing (As you all know but just in case) Typos and stuff will be in my stories but I will fix them later
Alright, do you guys want longer chapters with longer update waiting time or shorter chapters with shorter update waiting time?
I'm in deep need of a beta reader. Pretty sad huh? I just found out about beta reader from my sister but of course I have no idea how it works. If any of you guys are feeling nice and generous, please shoot me a review or pm. ^.^ thanks!
I was also thinking of writing another InuYashaxSesshomaru Fanfic. Except they're siblings because I feel that forbidden love is so cute! Might be based on True Love the manga.
"Hn? Soon?" A dismembered voice asked gleefully as it slowly materialized its visible form.
Naraku's eyes flickered to the phantom before focusing back on the sleeping hanyou.
"Ah... Ignoring me? That's not fair!" Naraku's youkai wailed, "I helped you before this one ever did!"
The purple pulsing creature hissed and grabbed at Naraku's kimono with its transparent hands. Naraku continued to ignore the creature that was beginning to look less and less like Naraku and more like the spider demon it was.
"Ahhh~~~" The creature exhaled, its mouth opening slightly larger than normal, "Are you going to shove in the back of your mind again? Pretend I don't exist? Panic when people ask you if you hear voices?"
Naraku grimaced; his hands trembled a bit before he stopped them. His youkai smiling when it saw a reaction.
"You know happened when you kept me under the binds... In the back of your mind..."
"And I regret it!" Naraku burst out without looking at the demon behind him... His demon. His youkai tilted his head then smiled,
"But..." Its voice like its fingers crept along his collar and around his pale neck, "I saved you."
Naraku closed his eyes as he shivered and tilted his head up.
"No you damned me... To the depths of hell." Naraku hissed in contempt as he drew the creature's fingers aside. He glared at his youkai, his own aura flaring up in anger. His youkai sighed,
"If I didn't..." It tried but those red eyes did not move, did not melt.
"It was your fault you know." It accused, "If you didn't shove me all the way back there... What was I suppose to do when you flung all your anger, sadness, and despair to me? I didn't know what to do... I only responded like any youkai would've! I... I killed your father for you!"
Yet that wasn't how Naraku remembered it... It was his hands that tightened over his father's frail and mortal throat and it was his hatred that fueled his motive. Naraku closed his eyes and tilted his head back, why was he letting a figment of his imagination bother him? Even with his eyes closed, he could feel that creature watching him, trying to read him, trying to confuse him, trying to control him again.
Naraku opened his eyes expressionlessly. Hmmm... He's read somewhere that people create delusions from the guilt they feel. This creature... This thing... It felt the same way as that strange feeling... That feeling he kept bottled up like poison... Until it burst out and made him loose his senses for a moment.
"You..." Naraku whispered quietly, "You don't exist."
"I... I am mad." Naraku whispered, "I am talking to something that doesn't exist at all..."
"But I do... I'll wait until you acknowledge me then... Then we'll see. I'm you and you're me."
And Naraku was left alone.
It took him awhile to recover but he felt in control again, less like he's tittering on the edge of his humanity and something he'd never ever want to acknowledge. InuYasha would be so ashamed of him if he knew... If he knew what Naraku desperately tried to hide... If he knew that Naraku was crazy, a schizophrenia.
As Naraku closed the door behind him, his eyes widened. Standing in front of his door, on the opposite wall, was the great and almighty pureblood Sesshomaru. Naraku could barely hide his contempt, once he was so beaten down that the mere sight of a pureblood would've sent him kneeling in shame of his existence. But for him to shun and cast aside InuYasha was wrong... Wrong beyond anything Naraku had ever thought.
Naraku winced when he felt that strange feeling coiling in his chest again.
Sesshomaru's eyes flickered up to purple youkai flaring up behind the spider hanyou. Recently the hanyou's youkai've been appearing more and more often... It's beginning to gain a more distinct form. Though it doesn't seem that the hanyou notices it. But it doesn't seem to be doing anything but trailing after the hanyou like a lost soul... Quite pathetic, just like everything like that insufferable spider hanyou. Always hiding and waiting for attention... Stealing it when no one is watching.
Pathetic.
Everything about this slinking hanyou is pathetic. Pathetic. PATHETIC.
"What do you want, Sesshomaru?" Naraku asked with his eyes narrowed and his head held high.
Sesshomaru barely suppressed a growl at the arrogant way the hanyou held himself, as if he deserved to talk to Sesshomaru as a better... Speaking as if Sesshomaru was intruding and undesirable one here.
"InuYasha's youkai has grown bigger."
Sesshomaru said calmly; offhandedly demanding to be let in. Naraku looked at the door then tilted his head to the side,
"That is true."
Naaraku said, not sure... For he could not sense this 'youkai' of theirs... But InuYasha seemed to get stronger and calmer so... Maybe Sesshomaru was talking about InuYasha's health.
Naraku peered at Sesshomaru, he knew that the pompous demon noble would never bring himself to ask outright to be let in. And Naraku refuse to let the demon in. Sesshomaru's eyes flashed and though his face did not change, Naraku felt that the pureblood was angry. Livid. And that made Naraku happy.
Sesshomaru carefully, artfully compose his expression though it was pointless; he could tell the spider hanyou knew what he was thinking... After all the hanyou was a lot more intelligent than he looked. Turning from than sniveling filth to a respectable looking hanyou... Worming his way into InuYasha's already too soft heart...
"I see." Sesshomaru said promptly and left with his dignity intact. InuYasha will return to him anyway. And the hanyou knew it.
He could tell... Though the spider hanyou was smart and devious... He had much to learn about hiding his thoughts and emotions. From the way the hanyou grimaced and clenched his fists, he knew that it was only a matter of time and Sesshomaru can wait. But then Sesshomaru paused, a nagging feeling.
"You." Sesshomaru murmured, "How old are you?"
Naraku stared at Sesshomaru.
Then the white dog demon left, he heard no answers but the answer was given by the hanyou's expression.
Naraku took a shuddering breath and clutched his fist to his chest.
"It's not fair..."
He whispered, maybe his anger gave him the courage to face the pureblood demon but his self-esteem... His confidence... Could never stand against that perfect being...
His dirty blood... Neither human nor demon...
Naraku clutch his head, his blunt nails digging into his skull. Why was he so incompetent?
"... better... I must be better..." He mumbled, "I have to... I have to clear my head... Yes, clear my head. Take deep breaths. And stay focused."
Naraku recited weakly, remembering what he's learned so far. But when he looked up; his composure slipped and crumbled.
She was there.
That woman, that no one could see...
"Can't you see her?" Naraku asked nervously, his smile slipping.
The monk looked around and shook his head,
"See who? There's no one here, Naraku."
The monk said jokingly but when he saw Naraku's horrified face. The monk leaned closer to Naraku and turned his head to follow Naraku's terrified gaze. The monk could not see anything behind him but the boy stared at the empty space with horror and clawed his face.
"Naraku..." The monk started but it set the boy off. Naraku grabbed the monk's arms,
"You truly can't see her? That woman over there! She has black hair and wear green and white outfit! She talks to me!"
Then Naraku turned to the 'woman',
"Say something! Look! She's talking to me! Can't you hear her?"
Naraku cried desperately,
"I... I'm not crazy... Please... I'm..."
The monk just patted the sobbing hanyou's head,
"It's alright... It's nothing bad. You just have trouble differentiating reality from delusions. You just have to take deep breaths and focus on what's real. If other people aren't reacting to it... It must be an illusion of your mind's making."
"You're not real." Naraku said aloud as if it could make her disappear.
The priestess stared at him for a moment before going back to patting InuYasha's door. Her hair floating around her head like a little cloud. She forced Naraku to watch her a little longer, before turning to him with her hands clasped behind her back. Slowly her lips parted; her solemn brown eyes boring holes through him,
"Why must you insist that I'm not real?" She asked with a hint of irritation, "I am real... InuYasha knows... Well... Used to know."
She trailed off and trailed her fingers along the cream colored wall,
"I guess you're right... I'm not 'real' in this world."
The priestess said sadly,
"I don't exist in this world anymore."
She said as she floated a few inches above the ground. As if to prove her point, she passed right through him. Leaving nothing more than a slight discomfort at her wake. The priestess curled her hand into a fist,
"I... InuYasha and I..."
Tears filled her large chocolate colored eyes as she sniffled,
"Never mind!" She shouted and stamped her foot in the air and glared at Naraku, "I told InuYasha to be happy and move on..."
Like her voice, she began to drift back and the edges of her form began to fade,
"Look. I've been watching you." She said and jabbed his chest with transparent finger, "You need to man up! I don't like that Sesshomaru character because someday he's going to do something awful to InuYasha and... I just know it! With that high and mighty attitude! Pampered and spoiled up-bring of his! And his nasty tempers. The very beginnings of an abusive husband, I tell you!"
Kagome closed her eyes,
"I told InuYasha to move on..." She said looking at the ground then she suddenly jerked her head up and glared at Naraku head on, "And I'm giving you permission. I think... I'd feel less angry if you were the one to make him happy."
Then she blushed,
"But that doesn't mean I still won't be angry! You'll still trip over tree roots!"
Naraku blinked then frowned,
"You're the reason why I keep tripping?"
"Uh-huh." Kagome said nodding proudly with her arms crossed, then she scowled, "I still can't make that pompous ass Sesshomaru trip! He doesn't walk! He glides or something!"
Naraku glared at her then laughed,
"I guess both of us still can't beat that purebred demon."
He said forgetting that this girl wasn't real, only a figment of his imagination. Oh how he applauded to his mind to produce such a creature. She was like the female version of him. Thick messy black hair and similar yet softer contours of her face mirrored his own. Though their personality couldn't be anymore different. She was hopeful as he was despaired. She was of the rising sun while he was of the sinking night.
"Higurashi."
She said, Naraku turned to her with confusion in his eyes,
"That's my name. Higurashi. Remember it. I can't stay with InuYasha anymore because that perverted monk suspects me so I'm going to go away but when you need me... When InuYasha needs help... Please say my name and let me find you. Please take care of InuYasha for me."
She said as she begun to fade.
"Please." Her voice a whisper.
Naraku lowered his eyelids,
"How am I... Not in control?"
He asked the empty air. His delusions can simply come and go while he was trapped in reality, waiting for the next hallucination to take over. a victim of his own delusions, heh, as if his feeble self-esteem wasn't enough.
Sesshomaru ignored the water dripping down his face. His pale hands gripped the edge of the well tightly,
Why was he doing this?
That creature had no power over him... InuYasha meant nothing to him. If that half-breed was to die. Sesshomaru would-
Sesshomaru inhaled sharply as pain stabbed his beating heart. Sesshomaru hunched over the well weakly and slowly lowered himself down. His sensitive ears heard the grass bend and sink under his weight as he knelt down, leaning against the moss covered well. Sesshomaru turned his face to the sun.
Who was he lying to?
Himself?
What a fool he's become after InuYasha...
When did he become this weak? What happened to his morals? What happened to him?
Fighting with a half-breed over a half-breed. Kneeling before some pixie. Hiding in some forsaken village.
Crash! Boom! Stomp stomp stomp!
Sesshomaru sighed, he thought he'd get some peace and quiet if he relaxed in some abandoned village but no... Some demons made it their hideout. He should've known that a village wouldn't be this empty or quiet unless there was demons.
"How irritating."
Sesshomaru said softly as he stood up, though not as tall as some of the grotesque humanoid demons. Sesshomaru tilted his head in silent yet arrogant manner. These were small fries... Insects he could wipe off the face of earth in mere seconds.
"A noble eh?"
"Want us to kiss your little boots, mister noble?"
"Why don't you give us your gold and clothes and no one gets hurt?"
"Wow! Great diplomacy, boss!"
Sesshomaru sighed and before a cloud could fully pass over his head, they all laid dead.
Sesshomaru flicked the blood off his hands and growled in irritation when he realized bits of flesh clung to his pristine claws. He picked off each string of muscle as he mused over his current situation. Slowly Sesshomaru smiled, killing always did clear his mind.
It was impossible to deny your true nature.
Sesshomaru's face morphed into something less human and more demon like. His youkai howled to the sky as it pranced around him. Sesshomaru can almost feel its caress and approval.
"Yes... And now we hunt." Sesshomaru said silently, only the dead as his witness.
Alright, I confess... I am rushing things a bit... Well a lot faster than I originally planned. Because I have a lot in mind and this pace is making me stomp my feet and pull my hair out! It's making me reluctant to type the boring parts out. Sorry guys!
Oh yeah, I got so little reviews for last chapter so MORE reviews please? (gives puppy eyes)
Stephanie: More will be explained as the story goes on. I will update soon. Sesshomaru won't kill her yet because she plays an important role in the future with her brother ^.^
Guest: Thanks for your review! Pat yourself in the back that I'm back!
