Title Song The Beatles Chapter Song Panic! At the Disco

Chapter Thirty Seven New Perspective

Scarlett POV

She was screaming, and she wouldn't stop. We'd gone outside, me, Ness and the werewolves, while the vamps had split up to do different things. I couldn't be next to her, not knowing that she willingly led me back to Julien.

"Are you alright, Scar?" Nessie mumbled, stroking Jake.

We were on the porch, me and Nessie sitting on the steps, the wolves in front of us. I nodded, staring at my hands. I could see her glance at the wolves out of the corner of my eye, then suddenly Seth's wet nose was on my hand, which I immediately pulled away from.

"I'm fine."

I really wasn't, especially not with Seth trying to be nice because he felt bad that because he dumped me I walked into the arms of my kidnappers. I'm a loser, duh.

"Scarlett-" Nessie went to grab my hand, but I stood up, vampire speed and everything (maybe by accident, but whatever) and moved straight to walk into the house towards Clementine's screams.

I went into the ground floor bedroom that Emmett had carried her to, watching as Carlisle worked on her, Rose and Bella assisting. Rose glanced up, then ignored me to help Clem. I cleared my throat out of awkwardness. She had been right, after all. I'd helped the bad guys get a baby, hadn't I?

"She's almost ready to deliver. We're not sure what will happen to her after that." Carlisle said, not looking at me.

"Right."

Clementine screamed again, gripping Rose's hand.

I turned again, leaving the room and walking back into the living room, where Nessie now stood, frowning.

"Why are you treating Seth like this?"

"Like what?"

Me?! He broke my heart and my best friend thought I was at fault.

My life, everyone.

"You're ignoring him. It's hurting his feelings."

"Are you kidding? Like, are you serious right now? Is this real life?!"" I was yelling, and she looked shocked, but I didn't care.

"Scarlett, I-!"

"It's happening! Scarlett!"

I turned back to the room, seeing Carlisle turned to me. I went back in, Nessie following. Clementine was screaming again, louder than before and more constant.

"She's about to give birth, you need to be here to help." He said, turning back to Clementine. I frowned.

"I have to watch her give birth?!"

Everyone glared at me, which was kind of hypocritical, I think. I mean, Bella pushed a kid out, Rose wanted to, Carlisle's a doctor and Nessie could leave if she wanted to. I'm the fifteen year old who has to help birth a child.

I knelt down beside Rose at Clementine's side (awkward, considering they both hate me). Clementine glared at me as she shrieked again. Rude, considering I saved her like an hour ago, but, sure.

"Okay, Clementine, you're going to have to push."

Do. Not. Puke.

"I can't." She panted, her eyes closing.

"Come on, Clementine. This is your baby. Do it for them." Rose said softly, stroking her sweaty hair back from her forehead.

Perspiring vampire? Because of me? Cool.

"Clementine, you have to push." Carlisle said, his voice firm, showing there was no room for movement here.

"Clementine." Bella squeezed her shoulder, trying to get her attention.

Rose released her hand in order to put her other hand on her cheek.

"Clementine, now!"

"I... I can't..." She breathed, sounding like she was struggling.

Her mouth fell open as her chest stilled for a second.

"Clementine!"

I grabbed her hand in both of mine, holding it closely, my eyes squeezed shut.

Breathe. Think about Rose and Emmett. Live. Babies. Plants. Puppies. Flowers. Anything to make her breathe-

She opened her eyes, taking a big breath, almost as if what just happened was a rest. She gripped my hand hard, sitting up slightly.

"Alright, come on Clementine."

"You did it." I glanced at Rose and she was smiling at me, a hand rested on my shoulder. I smiled back as much as I could from where I was recovering from saving this girl again.

Clementine had a baby boy with alabaster skin, golden eyes, and curly blonde hair. She held him for an hour before she decided she never wanted to see him again.

"What are you talking about?" Rosalie asked, when she shoved the baby into her arms.

"I want you out too." She grit her teeth and turned her head away.

Rose glanced around at Carlisle, Bella and I (Nessie having gone outside to tell everyone), before she turned and held the baby to herself at the edge of the room.

"Clem-" I reached for her. She threw an arm out, turning to glare at me.

"He is not mine. You're the worst of them all." She spat at me, looking away again, her face twisted into a grimace.

I could only frown at her in confusion. I turned to Rose, walking over cautiously to look at the baby. She was smiling down at it with a softness in her eyes I'd only ever seen her look at Nessie with.

I looked down at the bundle in her arms. He was beautiful, in a familiar sort of way.

"He's perfect, isn't he?" She whispered, staring at him.

I mumbled an agreement, glancing back at Clementine, then to the doorway, where Seth stood, now human, wearing a t-shirt and shorts. He nodded his head back, indicating for me to follow him out.

I nodded, wandering over to where he was standing. He turned and walked out into the living room where everyone sat, and then out of the front door. I followed quickly, walking past him when he stopped, going into the woods.

"Where are we going?" He asked.

"There all gonna be listening, like always."

If I could hear them, they could hear me, and Edward could hear my thoughts. That I did not need right now, not when Seth was probably about to apologize for breaking my heart to the point of me getting myself kidnapped.

"What did you need?" I mumbled, shoving my hands in the pockets of my hoodie (a hoodie I had stolen off of Seth, embarrassing).

God. He was probably gonna ask for his hoodie back and I made it weird by coming all the way out here.

I am a disaster.

"What's up with you?"

"In what way?"

I was just my usual, awkward, disastrous self.

"Well, you don't seem particularly happy to see me." He laughed, awkwardly. I resisted the urge to grimace.

"Well, sorry for being rude. I'm very thankful that you saved me from being jumped and then killed by lizard man, that was really cool of you..."

I just said 'cool' as I thanked someone for saving me.

He grabbed my arm and I jumped, glancing up at him to see him frowning.

"What's going on with you?"

"Guys!" Alice was suddenly behind Seth, a worried look on her face. "You have to come back."

"He looks like you." I heard Jasper say quietly before I had entered the house. Emmett sat with a worried look on his face, Rose beside him, holding the baby.

"What's going on?" Seth asked when we were all in the room.

"Look at him." Alice pointed at the baby.

He looked just like he did when I left earlier. Beautiful and familiar.

"What about him?" I said and Seth whispered "Oh my god." I furrowed my eyebrows, looking at him, then at the others around the room.

"Don't you see it?" Bella asked. I shook my head.

"Emmett's face." Alice said by way of explanation.

I looked down again. He did sort of-

"No way." Nessie said loudly. "He looks like Rose."

"No, he doesn't Nessie." Rose said sharply.

"He does." Jasper muttered.

"See?" Nessie crossed her arms in annoyance.

"You're both wrong." Seth interrupted. "He has..."

"What?" Bella asked.

"He has Claire's nose."

Jake stood up, walking over to look at the baby in Rosalie's arms, much to her annoyance. Nessie stood on her tiptoes to see around him.

"Woah." Nessie gaped.

"Right?" Seth said.

"It's like Emmett and Rose with Claire's nose." Nessie said, her voice borderline horrified.

She was horrified.

We all know who's fricken fault this was.

And now everyone was staring at me.

"Sorry."

"How did you do this?" Rose's eyes were wide as she stared at me, but soft.

"I don't know... I was just thinking about babies and you guys wanting babies and stuff."

"You've created the child in the image you imagined, even if unintentionally." Carlisle said, ever calm and professional.

I, on the other hand, was about to scream.

"Calm down, Scarlett. This doesn't seem like a bad thing yet."

Until Clem burns the house down.

Edward laughed.

I glared at him.

"I hate when you do this. I hate that you're best friends!" Nessie grumbled.

Rose handed Emmett the baby as she stood up. He stared down at him with wide eyes and a huge grin that made me want to cry.

I didn't even realize Rosalie had moved until her arms were around me and she was clutching my tight to her body.

"Thank you." She whispered to me.

"I thought you didn't want me to do that." I murmured into her hair. I got hair in my mouth. Gross.

"What?" She pulled away, her hands on my shoulders, her eyebrows turned into a frown.

"You said I was making immortal children and everything."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

I looked around the room to find the same confused expression in every face.

"You're an idiot." I turned to see Clementine standing, fully dressed and clean, looking as strong as ever, a smirk resting on her face.

"What do you mean?" I murmured.

She only laughed, a cruel, mean laugh, before she shook her head.

"I'll see you, I suppose." She grinned, her face reminding me of Julien. "After all, we can't really leave it like this. Not with everything that's happened."

Before anyone could react she'd disappeared back into the bedroom. Alice and Jasper immediately followed, Alice returning after a minute.

"She's gone. Jasper's trying to follow her scent, but I don't see her future."

"That's because she doesn't have one." Rose practically growled, looking down at me with soft eyes again. "What did they do to you, Scarlett?"

"Nothing? They locked me in a basement for a few days but-"

"What did your note mean?" Seth asked.

God, my note was probably so pathetic and whiny just like my personality.

"I hardly have to explain it." I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms.

"Did any of the vampires have gifts, Scarlett?" Edward asked.

I nodded. "Sure did. Happy could make pain go away, and Clementine had this memory thing where she blew on Glen from Bio-"

"I love Glen from Bio!"

"Excuse me?"

"Not like that, Jake."

"And he suddenly was all 'woah, glazed eyes, dizzy expression' and then he was normal and then she said it was memory manipulation and that it only worked on calm minds and I don't know because she stopped speaking."

"You're way too trusting, you know that?" Rose muttered, shaking her head.

"Bella, can you block whatever Clementine's power was?" Edward asked.

"I'll try. Let me know, right?"

I nodded at her.

"Her story is a load of crap. You don't just 'get away'."

"I did."

Rose rolled her eyes. "You're different, and you know it."

"How am I different? I'm normal. Boring."

"You're way too stubborn and annoying to be kidnapped. You get bored during a movie."

"They're two hours long, Rosalie. How am I supposed to deal with that?"

She sighed and covered her eyes with her hand.

"I think she's just thinking that we need to be wary. Especially you, with your naturally trusting nature." Edward smiled.

"I'm not trusting. I trust no one."

"You trusted two groups of supernatural creatures when everyone else thinks we're all weird." Emmett grinned. I scowled.

"I'm gonna go talk to those guys. Be right back." I grumbled, stomping up the stairs, ignoring their laughter.

"What?" I snapped at Seth. He frowned and then grinned.

"I dunno what you're angry about, but it doesn't matter. We're going to La Push to see everyone."

"I don't want to go anywhere with you."

He rolled his eyes and tapped on his chin.

"You don't have a choice." He grinned, throwing me over his shoulder. I called out for Clem to tell Esme to help them and laughed as Seth tickled my legs.

"This is kidnapping." I bitched as he dumped me in the truck. He pulled my seatbelt over me and then kissed my cheek.

"Oh well, guess I'm going to jail." He elected to climb over me to get to the driver seat, throwing his weight into me and laughing as he pulled the door shut.

"That was kind of rude."

He grinned. "I think I like indestructible Scarlett."

I sneered at him and he laughed loudly.

Logan was covering his nose like an asshole but so was I so it was alright. Everyone was being nice. Even Paul. Weird.

Embry apologized for trying to kill me and I apologized for throwing him into a tree and he tried to pretend I didn't hurt him and I laughed for ten minutes at that.

Lexi said I looked really pretty and that she always knew I'd hit peek hotness one day, even if I needed the help of vampirism. Collin agreed. I threatened him.

"Hey Claire!" I grinned and walked over to where she was grinning at me with her tiny baby cheeks.

"Don't eat her. Am I right?" Logan laughed, shoving Quil.

Everyone turned to stare at me, no one was smiling anymore. I turned and punched him as hard as I could in the face, clenching my eyes shut, praying I didn't break my-

"OW! SCARLETT!" He started crying, and suddenly we were all laughing again.

"Oh, I am going to enjoy this."

"Hey Clem!"

"Hi." She held her arms out, a thing she'd been doing since they got here. It gave her some form of comfort, so I'd let her stroke my hair and blow on my head. It was kind of weird but I'm not really one to judge weirdness.

She started talking about leaving alone. Me going with them. I pulled away when I heard Seth walk in.

"Uh.. Gotta go downstairs, see Seth... I'll be back."

"Hey." He grinned, arms reached out to hug me. "My mom wants to see you tomorrow so guess you're gonna have to come over."

"As long as you don't think I'm gonna eat her or something."

"Well, that would be awkward and I don't know how popular you'd be with Leah or Billy if you did-"

I kissed him to shut him up and it was awesome.

"Ah, Scar-"

I pulled away and Seth grabbed his lip.

"You're teeth are sharp."

"How dare you?"

"How dare I? How dare you?" He grinned and kissed me again.

"Don't." I pulled away. "You're blood is good and I don't need to develop a habit of that."

"Really?"

"Yeah." I shrugged. "I also thought of a really dirty joke that I'm gonna say in front of Nessie and Edward one time."

"Oh god."

"Maybe I'll tell your mom tomorrow-"

"Okay. I'm leaving. Go be with your kidnappers."

"Love you Seth!"

"Love you too." He grinned at me, before he kissed me lightly, then turned around and walked out, waving when he got to the door.

"Scarlett?" I turned to see Clem and I smiled. "Can I get a hug?"

"Sure!"

I was astounded. I had been totally played. I had let her use me and I hadn't even realized.

"What the hell?" I gaped at Edward. His eyebrows were raised.

"I dare you to say your joke in front of Esme."

I looked down. "I would never."

"Well, now I gotta know!" Emmett frowned, bouncing on his heels as he rocked the baby.

"Guys. I'm sorry for being a mega idiot." I said, rubbing my forehead. I glanced up at Seth, then immediately away as soon as I saw he was looking at me.

"Are you okay?"

"Am I okay? I'm fine. I'm not the one who's been getting all these mixed vibes, I mean-"

"Can we go home?" Nessie murmured, yawning. "Like, as in, Scarlett can sleep in my room and tell me everything that she thought happened and then what really happened and tell me her joke?"

"Alright, we'll head back now so we get back before morning."

When we got back, I hung out outside with Seth in the trees, waiting as he went behind a rock to get dressed. He came back in a pair of shorts, shirtless and amazing.

"So... Hows you?" I murmured.

"We gonna actually talk about what you want you wanna talk about?" He grinned. I scowled.

"Well, that's very blunt. I was being polite."

He laughed and I folded my arms.

"Well, now I don't want to talk to you at all."

He grinned at me and only moved slightly, rather than doing the predictable and body tackling me or something.

"Are you flexing?"

"What? No."

"You are!"

His face dropped and I died laughing. What a loser.

He grabbed me in a bear hug and pushed my face into his chest. Nice.

"What did your note mean?" He mumbled into my head. "I'll always need you."

"You said I wasn't the same person and you couldn't be with me anymore." I murmured it into his skin, feeling the way he tensed up. If I wasn't a vampire, I swear he'd crush me with the amount of force that suddenly racked his body.

"I'd never think that. Not ever."

"I know. I can't believe I even fell for it."

"I can't believe they did that to you. They messed with your head like that."

"I know, but they're gone now."

"She's not. She's out there-"

"And I'm a fricken vampire, Seth, surrounding by vampires, with a big strong, beautiful wereboy to protect me."

"Never, ever call me a wereboy again."

"I'll call you what I want. I'm very strong now."

He laughed and continued to squeeze me.

"I love you, so much."

"Who doesn't?"

"Yeah, you are pretty awesome."

"Right?"

"I'm kind of awesome as well."

"Less so."

"Obviously, but, still, more awesome than your average person."

"Mmhm."

"So."

"What?"

"You can make babies that look how you want them to now-"

"Do. Not. Start."

"What? I was inquiring about your ability-"

"I am a delicate flower and you will not get your hands on this for a while."

I pulled myself away and walked towards the house. I heard him jogging to catch up. He got in front of me and ran backwards, grinning.

"I hope you fall."

And, as I said this, I tripped over a shard of grass, and landed on my face, Seth standing above me laughing.
