jackxxxkimlover- It accidentally came out that way. I was in a rush to post at the time and I forgot to space all the lines. Sorry about that, I'll try not to mess that up again.

emylova- I know it's late, but I'm working on it! Stay tuned for much, much more recent updates in the future.

Kickmebaby- I promise you I won't kill off either of them. I don't have the heart to kill them off, especially being the two main characters.

LiveLaughLoveAndStayYOU- Sorry about that. I was in a rush to post at the time and the spacing slipped my mind. I'll try not to forget that again.

melitza253r.s- Sorry for the late update, but I still hope you enjoy as always!

Jack's POV

"I think we should-"

"Run!"

Right after she said that, we both broke out into a sprint out the door.

We quickly came to a halt and stood side by side, observing the hallways in both directions.

A group of men, all armed and aiming at us, turned the corner in my direction.

The second I caught sight of them I started running, shoving Kim forwards in front of me as encouragement to move.

Just before coming in contact with her, I whispered "Run!" repeatedly, getting louder each time until I had repeated it three times.

Because she didn't expect me to do what I did, she stumbled for a few steps before catching herself and breaking out into full speed with me.

Once we were running at a sprinting speed, an eruption of bullets fired out from behind us.

They simultaneously began firing the weapons I saw moments ago, ripping and shredding the walls around us to pieces.

As a reaction to the flying bullets, we both crouched slightly, putting an arm out in front of our faces as protection from the shrapnel as a precaution.

It appeared that our luck seemed to run in our favor since we ran for nearly fifteen seconds as a squadron of trained soldiers fired rapidly at us in a long, narrow hallway, and not one had hit us yet.

With the end of the hall approaching, we continued to run, our drive being the fact we were just feet from safety.

With the end of the hall just twenty feet away, our next worry was getting around the corner.

With us going so fast, we'd need to change direction quickly in order to avoid receiving a hole in either one of us.

After skidding across the floor, just enough to make the turn, we came to a quick halt before swiftly taking on a different stance, helping us ever so quickly change direction.

And just like that we were in the clear.

Knowing we were safe for the time being, Kim and I took complete advantage of the situation and continued to sprint down the new hall until we came to a cross-road.

We had three options. We could either go left, right, or straight.

We were both unsure which way to go when it came to which direction to go in.

Since it was fairly clear we both were uncertain as of which was to go, we both came to a stop in the center of the intersecting halls and took turns glancing down each hall.

Because we both couldn't seem to decide quickly, I took off left yelling as I did so "Come on, this way."

As I said this, I heard Kim's speaking as well, only she said "This way."

At the sound of our words clashing, I stopped and turned around, only to see Kim had done the same thing as me.

She stood about the same distance I was from our original position, her body turned towards me in a hurried manner like how I stood.

With this evidence, I could conclude that we in fact did the exact same thing.

Since we were in a rush to escape, I ran forwards to where she stood, expecting that we would make a getaway, but instead realized once again we thought similar.

I hollered out "Let's just go this-" but cut myself off when I noticed she wasn't by my side anymore.

I quickly came to a stop and turned, realizing that she too had said something again, but this time it was from behind me.

While I thought I had taken the lead, she instead said simultaneously to me "I'll just follow-" before cutting herself off at the sight of us separated again.

We both stood there for a second, speechless as we were unsure of what to do since we seemed unable to agree on a direction.

Just then, we both moved back to the middle of the hallway and told one another as if cued "Let's just go straight." just before turning to continue straight down the hall.

Once we reached the end, we now had the decision on whether or not to go left or right.

Going with my gut, we both luckily went left as I let Kim get ahead of me. Just before following Kim down the hall, I hesitated for a moment to see the tiny militia turn the corner and begin to advance down the long hall we were previously in.

Once I caught up to Kim, we made our way down the hall only to have it lead to a room.

We hurriedly opened the door, turned around, and slammed it shut, putting out backs against the door in relief as we gave ourselves a second to catch our breath.

Remembering the group was still close on our trail, I pushed my body off of the door and made my way over to a nearby table.

Catching on to my idea, Kim did the same, grabbing ahold of one side of the table as I grabbed the other.

After silently counting down to one another, we both lifted the giant table and carefully placed it in front of the door.

The table both provided us with more time to think and escape, something we both desperately needed at the moment.

Kim's POV

We took off towards the nearest door, which luckily happened to lead to another aircraft hangar on a large open space of rooftop, similar to the landing pad Kim's former boss had landed on.

A large helipad with helicopter mounted on top practically sat there, waiting for Jack and I on standby and ready for immediate use.

With not a single enemy in our line of sight, we cautiously ran across the flat, concrete rooftop, constantly looking in all directions for any sign of any soldiers as we did so.

As we approached the aerial vehicle, I jogged ahead of Jack a foot or so and went to open the door.

The second my hand came in contact with the metallic handle, Jack grabbed my waist and pulled me around to the back end of the copter then pulled me down to a crouching position.

Noticing his sudden urge to be stealthy, I simply turned to face Jack as he signaled me of an unknown person to our left who had just finished turning the corner of the helicopter's front end and had stopped to stand guard by the door I had just previously stood at.

Taking advantage of his current position, I snuck my way around to the other side of the helicopter, opposite to the guard, with Jack close on my trail.

Carefully peeking up through the window of the helicopter, I took view of the guard and quickly observed him.

I then lowered myself down to ground level, taking a moment to look under the helicopter for any approaching enemies I might not have seen seconds ago before pushing myself alongside Jack.

After standing up and putting my back against the wall of the helicopter, I tilted my head to Jack as I whispered "He's just standing there watching over the rest of the building. You distract him and I'll take him."

With a quick nod, I watched him race around the corner and step into the sight of the man.

After hearing the click of a gun, I knew he cocked his gun and had his attention fixed on Jack.

Walking around the opposite end as Jack, I walked around the helicopter and looked at the man from behind who indeed had his gun aimed at Jack.

He stood in a defensive stance as he shouted several times at Jack to put his hands up.

Once Jack made quick eye contact with me, I began to walk towards the man quietly before coming to a stop once I was behind him.

The man continued to repeatedly yell for Jack to put up his arms, but before he could do anything else, I jumped and sent an unexpected crescent spin kick to him.

The momentum of the kick sent instantly knocked him out, causing his head to droop down forwards as he went tumbling over the edge of the building and into the bushes below at the base of the building.

As I saw his defeated figure fly over the edge, I couldn't help but smirk at my victorious takedown for a second before turning my full attention back to Jack.

Once I made eye contact with him, I turned to see a look I hadn't really expected to see, and in turn asked Jack "What?"

"What?! You knocked him over the building Kim. If he's not dead, he's severely injured. You couldn't just knock him out with a simple punch or something?"

After hearing his overdramatic reaction to my take down, I chuckled to myself before responding back to him.

"What? I can't have a little fun? Plus, the guy would have killed us anyways…"

"Still!"

You could easily tell he was pretty infuriated from my choice, but while there was nothing I could do to change that now that it was all done and over with, I knew I had to get him back on track.

Before I could do so, I caught sight of some movement in my peripheral vision as Jack continued to glare at me.

I glanced over to the door on the rooftop we had previously exited to see an advancing troop squadron heading straight towards us.

"Um, Jack?" I began, "As much as you want to yell at me, I think it's safe to say we should kind of get going unless you yourself want to be leaking from multiple bullet holes."

With a quick point of the finger at the platoon speeding towards us, he immediately dropped the irrelevant conversation and ran to the driver's side door to the helicopter while I hopped in the passenger seat and buckled in.

We both knew we didn't have much time, so every second we spent here, meant an increased chance of being captured or killed.

Jack quickly turned on the ignition and in mere seconds we were up in the air and flying.

At that point, the troop took aim at us and machine gun fire broke out. Lucky for us, the helicopter was bullet-proof.

I bet my boss never would've guessed that something he did for his benefit would ever backfire on him like this.

In no time we began our escape and soon, we were officially out of the maniac's reach… for now.

Realizing that he had just narrowly escaped capture, I heard Jack exhale out in relief, one hand on the helicopter's steering and the other in which he used to run through his hair.

With the rush of previous events slowly fading, I could feel my heartbeat slowing back down to its normal pace, as so did my breathing.

I turned my head to Jack and let out a puff of exhaust.

He turned to face me back in return, giving me a look that told me this wasn't over just yet.

Jack's POV

My heart felt like it was trying to pound its way through my chest.

We just nearly outran capture and if we were just trying to survive before, imagine how much worse things are out to be now that we've not only evaded capture, but stole the enemy's helicopter in the process.

I turned to Kim sitting beside me to see her looking me right in the eye, still recovering from past events like I was.

As much as I wanted to celebrate and say we did it, we escaped capture, it was obviously apparent to both of us that all we did was add more fuel to the fire.

Before we had a warrant for capture, now I could guarantee that we had only turned capture into kill.

Now it was just a race against the clock and whether or not we could put some serious distance between us and Kim's previous boss.

With them so close to our tail, it makes it nearly impossible to stay en-route straight back to the United States, not to mention we were just too far just to make one straight trip.

We wouldn't have enough fuel, and it would be more of a risk since that's exactly what they expect from both Kim and I.

After turning forwards to check and make sure I was headed in the direction I wanted, I turned to face Kim.

"Kim?" I called out.

Instantly her eyes met mine and she looked at me curiously as she waited for what was about to come from my mouth.

"I have to be honest Kim, I think we've just screwed ourselves."

"You don't think I know that Jack? This whole thing is my fault! It would have probably been easier if you had just finished what you came to do then and there when you had the chance then left..."

"Whoa Kim, hang on a second. There's a reason I, a special agent who as completed so far 100% of all his missions, didn't go through with it. We can't turn back time even if we wanted, so we should just take advantage of whatever opportunities we have and keep moving forwards. We're the best of the best at what we do. I know we can do this, so should you."

I knew after telling her my unexpected and cheesy speech, she would have to agree with me.

She averted her eyes away from mine and looked out the windshield of the vehicle, looking down at the earth below.

Just after biting her lip lightly, she nodded in agreement before responding "Yeah, you're right. It's too late to go back now anyways."

"Good, I'm glad we're on the same page again." I laughed.

After chuckling back at me in amusement, Kim soon silenced and asked me seconds later "So, do you have any idea where we're going to go next?"

"Not a clue. We definitely don't have enough fuel for a straight trip, so my plan was to go to the next town we come across and hitch another ride from there. That or get as far as possible before we run out of fuel, whichever comes first."

"At this rate it's gonna take forever to get to the U.S. Isn't there any way you can contact your group or whatever and find us a ride out of here?"

"I would, but there's a slight problem with that. You took all my gear when you captured me. We're on our own."

After saying this, I took a second to glance over at her and noticed she wasn't looking so good.

Her head was hanging down low and she was lightly biting her lip. Just under her breath, she mumbled to me an apology.

"Again, I'm really sorry Jack-"

"Don't say sorry Kim, it was my decision and I don't regret a thing. I don't like seeing the ones I care about get hurt, and I care a lot about you Kim. Nobody should ever have to go what you've gone through, even more so as a teen. You shouldn't be the one to apologize, it should be that boss of yours Doctor Psycho."

I was then cut off by the sound of her laughing, something I haven't heard in a while.

"Doctor Psycho? Is that what you're gonna call him now?" Kim laughed.

"I think so. It's catchy, don't you think?" I said, chuckling shortly after saying that.

"I guess maybe it is… maybe." she laughed, a genuine smile appearing on her face shortly afterwards.

There was a few moments of silence once the laughter died down, and in this time, I remembered something she had told me back at the facility where I was first held captive.

"Hey Kim?" I asked, her face turning towards mine as she responded.

"Yeah?"

"You never told me yet what that necklace was that you grabbed before we first escaped. Can I ask what it is?"

I could she her face instantly grew very serious once I asked her this.

She took in a deep breath of air before reaching in her pocket, pulling out the chained necklace and holding it before her as she gazed heavily upon it.

"It's my most prized possession."

Kim's POV

"What's the story behind it?" Jack asked, furrowing his brows in curiosity as I watched him set the vehicle on auto-pilot.

He then turned to face me completely, focusing himself on what I was about to say.

"It was my mom's."

"I thought you didn't know who your mom was?"

"I don't, all I can remember is the last time I saw them, and I don't remember much from that either. Let me explain…"

"Kimmy bear, I've told you countless times now. You can't stay with daddy and I anymore."

"Why not?"

The two year old me asked, confusion written all over my face as I stared at the two people in front of me.

I was currently standing at the top a familiar house's steps with nothing but two suitcases, one placed on both my left and right.

"I thought mommies and daddies are supposed to stay with you forever and ever?" I asked the two people before me.

"They are honey, it's just… your mommy and daddy are very special people and because we are very special, people really want us. Very bad people to be specific."

"But why?" I asked my mother, my eyes tearing up slightly as her eyes did so too.

She looked me deep in the eyes and held my hands in hers as she tried her best to keep her composure.

Even from a very young age, I could very well tell something was wrong and even through my confusion, it seemed like she didn't know exactly what was going on either.

"I don't know exactly why baby, but I just want you to know that we're doing this for you."

"If it was for me, you wouldn't leave me at all." I mumbled, letting a tear finally slip from my eye.

At that moment, my mom bit down on her lips, holding back tears from her own eyes as she took a hand to my face and gently wiped away the tear that was trailing down my cheek.

"Trust me and your father honey, we don't want to do this either, but it'll keep you safe and that's always been our number one priority since you came into this world."

My mom then turned to my father and whispered just loud enough for me to hear "Can you please help me dear?"

Obliging to her wishes, he got down on his knee to a similar height as my mother and I then looked me in the eye.

"Kimberly, you know we love you very much, and no matter what happens, that will never change. It's just we want you to live a better life than us and grow up, make friends, have a family, and most importantly enjoy all of life… Something your mother and I didn't get to do as much as we wanted to. And the only way to do that is for us to go away for a little while."

"How long?"

"We don't know for sure sweetie, but I promise you that we will see you again."

After he said that, my mom put a hand on my father's arm and looked him deep in the eyes with a glare as I could barely just make out what she said.

"Don't promise things we can't control."

He quietly motioned her to calm down as he then fixed his attention back on me.

"Where am I going if you and mommy are leaving?"

"We've already planned for this Kim, you're going to stay with your mother's sister. Your mother and I both know how much you love her and how much she loves you, so we decided it would be best for you to stay with her. Just think of this as a sleepover, just only for longer."

Although I still didn't really understand the situation, I tilted my head down in the moment of sadness and nodded as I simply said "Okay."

My mom then took her hand and used it to lift my face up to face hers.

"Now baby, we have to get going, but I want to give you something first."

She then reached her hands behind her neck and took off the necklace she was currently wearing.

The dangling necklace before me was then placed in my opened hands, which she opened just before handing it to me.

I looked down into the palms of my hand before me and looked down at the necklace, observing it and its fine details.

It was a gold necklace and in the center, was a small, cylinder capsule, also made of gold like the chain.

"You're too young to understand this now, but when you grow up, I know someday you'll find this useful when the time is right. Everything you want to know now plus more will then be yours to know."

I nodded again, understanding her words as I looked back up at her in her eyes.

Without breaking eye-contact, she then took her hands, enclosed the necklace within mine and gently kissed my hands.

"I love you my little Kimmy, more than you can ever imagine."

"Me too." my father said speaking up.

"Stay strong honey."

My father said before standing up and pecking my forehead, my mother following his actions after stopping to give me one last hug.

She placed a light kiss on my cheek before retreating, taking stand with him.

She then reached behind me, causing me to turn around and watch her ring the building's doorbell.

And with that, she took grip of my father's arm, strolled down the steps, entered the vacant vehicle we were previously in and quickly drove off, but not before both waving one last goodbye to me.

Once I lost visual of them, I couldn't hold back the tears I had been bearing anymore.

Beads upon beads of tears streamed down my face as I looked out at the empty street in front of me, the only thing illuminating the barren road being the one street light across the street.

Just then I heard the door open behind me as I felt a tender hand grasp my shoulder.

Present Day

"That definitely explains your necklace, but now there's something I don't get. How did you end up with Doctor Psycho back there?" Jack asked, raising a brow as I continued to look down upon my necklace.

"Long story short, our house was broken into and… something happened."

Bringing back all these memories made me tense, causing me to bite my lip in response to my unease.

I was currently telling Jack things I've never told to anyone, not even the people who were closest to me.

These were things I've kept both private and under wraps for years upon years.

It's not easy for me to just spill my worst memories.

In my peripheral vision, I saw Jack double check the helicopter's flight path once again before turning his full attention on me.

He said nothing, drilling holes into my head as he looked at me with a serious gaze.

I took one deep breath before continuing on with my story.

It was just another day in the Crawford house hold.

And in case you're wondering, no I don't mean my house hold in which I lived with my mom and dad.

I still indeed lived with my mother's sister.

It was just her, her cat and I.

Not much ever happened besides her at work and I starting school, so we always had time to hang out with one another and find all sorts of things to do when we had no plans.

Like any other night of ours, we found something to do.

Today we decided to play a card game.

We were both seated at the dining room table, me on one side while she sat on the opposing side.

Both of our eyes glued to our hands as we stared intently at the playing cards we held in them, six in her hand and one in mine.

The competition was intense, and the air in the room only got more and intense as time passed on.

It was dead silent.

You could hear pin drop a mile away.

Just then it was time for me to deliver the final blow, the winning move.

"Do you have any 7s?"

She then exhaled loudly in defeat, sliding me her last seven card as a grin instantly appeared on my face.

I took hold of the card, held up my set of four sevens and slammed them down in my other pile of card sets as I cheered.

"Yes! I win again!"

My face beamed with excitement as my opponent took her cards, put them down on the table and held up her hands in surrender.

"I don't know how you do it" she laughed "But you my darling little girl are a true prodigy at Goldfish. Good game."

"Can we play again?"

She then chuckled in amusement to herself as she responded back to me "Sorry Kimmy, but I think it's time we call it a night. We've played 5 rounds now and you've won every single one, plus it's getting pretty late and not only do I have to work tomorrow, but you have school."

"Aw, come on. One more game? Pretty please with candy and sprinkles on top?"

"Even if I said yes Kimmy, losing five times is a little disappointing to me. You beat me at every game we play, I don't know if I have another losing games left in me." she joked, laughing as I sent a puppy dog face her way.

"Don't give me that look Kimmy, you're not gonna make me give in. Not tonight. Maybe tomorrow we can play checkers or even chess, granted you'll still beat me at it…"

"I don't wanna wait that long though. Please? Just one more game? I promise I'll go straight to bed, brush my teeth longer… I'll do anything."

"Anything you say?"

"Yes, please."

"Okay fine, alright. The condition is not only will you go right to bed after brushing your teeth for an extra minute, but I also get two cards less than normal. I'm winning this round for once."

"Alright, deal!"

Once I heard that, I couldn't help but grin excitedly as I practically squealed in delight.

Her smile grew as well at the sight of me, but her feeling was short-lived when she heard the sound of a loud, firm knock on the door.

Her face instantly scrunched in confusion as she said to herself "Hm, I wonder who that could be. I didn't expect any visitors, especially any visitors at 10 o'clock at night."

After rising up from her chair, she instinctively pushed the chair in behind her and told me "Mix up the cards for me darling, I'll be back in a second. And no cheating little missy!" with a slight chuckle as she walked towards the door.

Being a Crawford like her sister or my mother, she was no enemy to security precautions.

After what happened to my mom and dad, the reason I was dropped off at the house in the first place, she took multiple security measures. She installed cameras automatic locks on all possible means of entry into the house, as well as had a security code to her most prized objects.

These items included all her vehicles, doors into her home, the garage…

Heck, she even had a passcode on her TV since most times.

She let me watch my television choices over her own while we spent time together, making her occasionally stay up late some nights to catch up on her TV programming while I slept.

Before walking to the hallway which the front door was at the end of, she made a pit stop at her computer in the living room and looked at the screen, observing the cameras that surrounded the house.

I couldn't help but glance over direction as I re-shuffled the cards, taking notice of her actions.

I watched as she hunched over her office chair, moved the mouse and looked at the screen.

I had just finished organizing the cards and had placed them in one stack in the center of the table when I knew something was wrong.

She quickly came back over to the table, eyes filled with worry as she gently but firmly gripped my arm and motioned me to one of the kitchen cabinets on the floor.

"Kimmy, I need you to do me a favor for me. I need you to hide under here for a little bit."

"But why?" I asked, following her as she pulled me to the wooden door and crouched down closer to my height.

"We're gonna play hide and seek. I want you to stay in here and count to ten over and over again, okay?"

"But that's not how you play-"

"I know, I know honey. I'm just gonna hide in a very hard spot, and I want to make sure I have enough time to get there. I'll tell you when to come out." she explained as I crawled inside, turning around to face her afterwards.

"While I'm hiding, I want you to have this."

At that moment, she then placed her cell phone in my hand.

I looked down at the object as she continued on with her orders.

"Now, this may be a little different than the other times we've played, but just trust me. Ok?"

"Ok."

Just then I heard a loud knock at the door again as she turned her head in the direction of the door, her breath hitching in anxiety as she yelled out "Just a second, I'm coming!"

She then fixed her attention back on me and looked me deep in the eyes as she began to wrap up her briefing.

"You know what number I told you to call in case of an emergency?"

"Yes."

"Tell me honey, tell it to me please."

"You said 9-1-1 and to tell them my name, what's wrong and our address."

"Good, good. If you don't hear from me when this clock here says 10:16, I want you to call that number and do exactly that, and in the mean-time, I want you to be very, very quiet."

"Why? Is something wrong?"

"No, no honey, everything's fine. Everything's going to be fine, it's just in case. Like I said, trust me. I have to go answer that door now, but I want you do exactly what I just said and know one thing Kim, I love you very dearly."

"But wait, that's what mommy and daddy told me before leaving. Are you leaving?"

She then ignored my question, her mouth hanging agape, unsure what to say as she just smiled and brushed a strand of my blond hair from my face.

She lightly pecked a kiss on my forehead.

Her last words to me being "Stay strong honey" before she then stood up, shut the cabinet door and left.

Listening to her as I was told, I sat there, quiet and alone as time slowly ticked by a minute at a time.

My eyes never once left the screen of her phone as I watched the minute number change one by one.

Just seconds after the clock had read 10:09, I heard a loud bang, then another.

My eyes bulged out of their sockets and my breathing increased to a loud, obnoxious, puffy noise as I felt a faint shake vibrate the house and heard the echo of the loud noise ring seconds after it was first heard.

Remembering what I was told, I covered my mouth with both hands as I dropped the phone in my lap and tried to slow my breathing.

If anyone had heard or seen me then and there, they would probably assume I was having an asthma attack.

My breaths became short and rapid and I bit down on my lip in hopes to calm me as I took hold of the phone again and checked the time.

I read 10:15, but moments later it changed to 10:16 and instantly I dialed the number I had repeated minutes ago.

The voice of an older woman was instantly heard through the device as she spoke to me.

"9-1-1 what is your emergency?"

At first I couldn't pull myself together to speak clearly, so I cleared my throat as the woman repeated herself for a second time.

I took a deep breath in hopes to calm myself before explaining to her the situation and sharing with her both my address and name.

Once I had told them all the information I could, I hung up the phone, only to hear the sound of a slow creaking noise.

My eyes immediately widened again.

I thought I was alone, I guess not.

Feeling the sense of danger even more than before, I held my breath and made sure not to move a single muscle as the creaking sound got louder and louder.

I quietly tilted my head back against the wooden frame of the cabinet and closed my eyes, hoping that the current intruder was here to help me.

The noises continued to get louder and louder until it suddenly stopped nearby my hiding spot.

Just then, I suddenly was spooked when the doors of the cabinet opened up and a face popped into view.

I held in a scream, and instead stared at the man before me, waiting for him to make his first move.

All I saw was a face so without any other visuals, I couldn't tell if he was an enemy or the police.

At the sight of me, his face immediately softened and he cautiously held out a hand to me.

"Hello, what's your name?"

Because I was still unsure of his identity, I remained silent as a light smile appeared on his face.

"It's okay, you don't have to tell me. Would you come with me? You called for help, that's what I'm here to do."

"Where's my..?"

"I don't know. My team couldn't find her when we searched the house. But I promise you, I will find her for you. Now come on, how about we go and I get you a snack? You must be terrified after everything that's happened."

He then offered his hand again, which this time I finally took after a few more moments of hesitation.

From that moment on, I never saw my or any of my family for that matter, ever again.
