Author's Note: This is short. And I've never done a PATF story before. This is something the movie never really specified, though, so…

What You Needed

Louis had absolutely no right to complain, but he couldn't help thinking the situation was more than a little unfair.

The patrons of Tiana's restaurant all adored him, yes — albeit, after she'd done quite a bit of work to get them to believe he wasn't going to eat them all. They watched in awe as the alligator played song after song from memory, cheering as they ate. He'd gotten precisely what he needed, and he really couldn't ask for more.

There was only one problem, but it was a rather large one.

Tiana and Naveen, two of his first real friends, couldn't understand him anymore.

Sure, Tiana remembered what all Louis's favorite foods were, and she always saved a bit of food for him at the end of the day. Naveen still attempted to crack jokes with him and occasionally joined in playing a song with him. Both of them attempted to make conversation, however limited it was.

Yet, when all Louis could do was shake his head or smile and nod in response to basic yes-or-no questions, he wished that what he'd needed had overlapped a bit better with what he'd wanted.
