Golden rays of sun slipped through the drapes and onto the couple lying in their bed, the demon's arms wrapped around a slim waist while her head was on his chest, midnight locks splayed across her naked back and shoulders, her head raising and falling with his breaths. It was only when the ringing of their alarm clock pierced through the silence and stillness of the room did the two of them stir, Rin and Sesshomaru groaning softly before the young woman rolled over to shut the beeping machine off, the covers shuffling as she adjusted herself to roll back onto her husband.

"It's seven in the morning," the demon murmured softly, his amber eyes opening to the light and to her, his lips crossing with a gentle smile, "don't you need to be getting up now?"

"Five more minutes," Rin mumbled as she snuggled into his chest, her deep brown eyes fluttering open to smile teasingly at him, "you kept me up late last night."

"I couldn't help myself," Sesshomaru told her as he lowered his lips to hers, "you're just too irresistible."

"Hmm," Rin giggled lightly as she kissed him, "be that as it may-"

"Mommy!" a voice called from the door coupled with the banging fists, "daddy!"

"There goes my morning," the demon grumbled as Rin giggled, her hands slipping over to the edge of her bed to grab her nightgown and underwear from the night before, the satin covered by her silk bathrobe.

"You're implying you had one to begin with," she teased as she walked over to the door, her hands tying the knot around her waist, her eyes making sure that her husband had put on his pyjama pants before she opened the door, two little dog-eared boys running in to grab her legs and hug her.

"Morning mommy!" the eldest boy coursed as he bounced around her, the child turning from his mother to run towards his father who was still lying on the bed, his brother clinging to his mother.

"Daddy daddy daddy!" the eldest bounced towards his father, "get up get up get up!"

"Okay okay!" the demon laughed his arms pulling his oldest son to his chest, his fingers tickling the boy's ribs as the child squealed in delight, Rin stooping down to pick up their toddler, the boy's fist to his mouth as he watched quietly, the child rarely saying anything to anybody.

"Come on you two," Rin called as she walked out the room with her child safely in her arms, her feet taking her to her niece's room, "breakfast!"

She laughed lightly as her eldest son ran from her bedroom, his feet pattering on the wooden floor while his father called and chased him to slow down, the boy in her arms watching with interest before he turned back to her, his amber eyes intelligent while his fist still to his mouth, Rin's gentle hand removing it in hopes that he broke his habit. When Aimi was a year old, her aunt and uncle were blessed with a healthy, bouncing, baby boy they had christened Toshiyuki, the two children in their house quickly at each other's throats before the boy even knew how to speak. Rin was ever thankful that their second child, Yasushi, was as his name suggested, quiet and calm, so much so that it worried his mother when he didn't speak his baby babble as his brother and cousin did, the doctor reassuring her that he was fine, that he was just developing differently.

The house too, had undergone changes since their marriage, the two of them expanding the bungalow to include two new rooms for their sons and a play room for their children in an attempt to keep the toys confined there, an attempt so far unsuccessful.

"Aimi?" the young woman called knocking on the little girl's door, "do you want breakfast?"

The white door opened to reveal a little girl in a pink floor-length nightgown, her bare feet on the wooden floor while her hair was disheveled.

"Yes please," the young girl yawned as she rubbed her eyes, Rin smiling down kindly at her now niece while her hand was extended for her to take, the child's hand in hers as they walked towards the kitchen.

Aimi had grown up splendidly in the five years since Sesshomaru and Rin's marriage; her hair had become as wavy as her mother's and she was always interested and curious about everything, finding happiness when playing sports with her eldest cousin when they weren't fighting. Her youngest cousin was treated differently by her, the girl four when he has born, old enough to understand that Rin and Sesshomaru were not her parents and that the children they bore were her cousins, yet she still treated them like her brothers; Aimi looked out for her littlest cousin like a big sister, enjoying playing with his short black hair and ears while he simply sat and smiled the small smile he reserved for his family.

"Mommy!" Toshiyuki called as his father pushed his chair in to the table, "what are we gonna eat?"

"Give me a minute," Rin smiled as Aimi took her seat beside her cousin, Yasushi taken by his father to sit in his high chair, "I'll warm up the pancakes I made last night."

"Yay! Pancakes!"

"Can I have jam on mine?" Aimi asked, Rin smiling as she reached in the fridge for the syrup.

"Sure honey."

"Why do you want jam?" Toshiyuki asked, "syrup's better."

"No it's not!" the young girl told him.

"Yes it is!"

"No it's-"

"Aimi, Toshiyuki!" Sesshomaru interrupted as he poured steaming water into the teapot, "it's not even eight in the morning and you two are already going at?! Can we have a nice breakfast before you fight?"

"But, he started-"

"It doesn't matter who started it!" the demon told them as he turned to the children, his youngest watching with interest, "we don't want to hear it!"

"But-"

"Enough," Sesshomaru told them, both children hanging their heads and they mumbled sorry.

The family spent the remaining half hour working through their pancakes before the children and adults made their way to their respective rooms to dress, Sesshomaru and Rin taking longer as the demon chose that time to kiss and suck at her neck, the young woman telling him cut it out while she giggled under his touches. The two boys were in the front hall when their parents arrived, Yasushi still in his pyjamas while his mother and father calling out for their niece before the young woman took towards the little girl's room.

"Aimi!"

Rin turned the corner to her niece's room, her brown eyes catching the sight of the small six-year-old girl sitting on her bed with her back to the door.

"Sweetie?" Rin asked as she slipped into the room, "is everything okay? Didn't you hear your uncle or me calling you?"

"I don't wanna go."

Confusion slipped into the young woman's face as she sat beside the child on the mattress.

"You were so excited yesterday," Rin told her as a delicate hand rubbed her back, "what happened?"

"What if the kids make fun of me?" the little girl asked as she turned to her aunt, her amber eyes worrisome.

"Why would they do that?" the young woman asked kindly, "is it because you're raised by your aunt and uncle and not your parents?"

The girl fidgeted on the yellow comforter, her ears drooping slightly while Rin pulled her closer to her chest.

"They won't," Rin hushed softly, her hand rubbing the mass of white hair tenderly, "it's nothing to be ashamed of honey."

"But what if-"

"Losing your parents isn't something to be embarrassed about. "

Amber eyes looked up at her Godmother and aunt while Rin pressed on.

"It's horrible and tragic, but you should never be ashamed about it," Rin told her softly, "and the fact that you turned out to be such a lovely young girl is proof of how strong you are."

The girl looked down at her knees as her ears still remained by her head, sorrow on her face.

"Come here sweetie," Rin pulled her goddaughter towards her bedroom, the child confused as she stood by the bed, her aunt rummaging through a red velvet box before she pulled out a small gold necklace with a small gold lily on it. "Your mother wanted you to have this when you were a little bit older," the young woman murmured as she approached the girl, "but I think that you should have it now."

"What is it?"

"It's a necklace," her aunt explained as she clipped the jewelry onto her goddaughter's neck, the white hair flicked to cover the backing, "it was your mothers who got it from your father on their first wedding anniversary."

"This was mommy's?" the child mumbled as she looked at the small flower before she looked up at her aunt.

"Yes," Rin smiled as she kneeled in front of the young girl, "I think you're mature enough to have it now, but you can't lose it, alright?"

"Alright Auntie Rin," Aimi smiled bashfully before she threw her arms around the young woman, Rin's arms surrounding the child, "I love you."

"I love you too," her aunt murmured softly, her lips kissing the girl's cheek, "but we can't keep your uncle waiting for too much longer, you need to get to school for your first day."

"Kay."

The young woman took the child's hand and led her from the bedroom to the living room, the little girl glancing at the grand piano while she was guided to the front door where her uncle was putting on the blue coat over his eldest son while their youngest sat patiently on the stool, his feet kicking off before he ran to his mother when the young woman bent down to slip Aimi's light purple coat over her body, the child tugging on his mother's sweater sleeve.

"In a minute sweetie," Rin told her child patiently before she turned back to Aimi.

"Auntie Rin," the little girl asked, "when I come home, can we play the piano?"

"You really like that huh?" the young woman smiled at her niece while the child smiled and nodded, Rin laughing kindly, "that's a big change from when you were a baby."

"Really?"

"Yeah," Rin smiled as she zipped up the coat, "you would wail the instant I hit a key, you hated the sound of the piano."

"That's cause I wasn't playing it," the child told her smartly, both adults laughing lightly at her comment.

"I guess not," the young woman agreed as she stood with her youngest in her arms, Yasushi holding onto his mother's sweater while his hand remained to his mouth, his black ears twitching slightly as he looked down at his cousin.

"Come on Aimi," Sesshomaru told her standing from his son, the boy at his feet practically bouncing in anticipation, "Toshiyuki, calm down!"

"But daddy!" the boy whined, "I wanna go~"

"Your cousin is coming with us," the demon told his son firmly, "and please don't whine."

"Okay…" the boy's ears seemed to droop slightly at his father's words, his cousin giggling slightly.

"I'm coming Uncle Sesshomaru!" she chirped happily, the little girl receiving a kiss from her aunt before she bounced over to her uncle, Rin following to kiss her son's head before her husband's lips, the demon kissing his youngest son on the cheek before he bade him and his wife a farewell, the young woman smiling as she waved to the departing crew, the three of them slipping into the SUV, Rin watching from the large living room window with her quiet child in her arms.

"That's a pretty necklace," Sesshomaru commented as he buckled in his five-year-old, his niece smiling timidly.

"Auntie Rin said it was my mommy's," the girl mumbled smiling, her uncle smiling back at her.

"It was," the demon agreed, "my brother looked for that necklace forever before he found it."

"Really?" she asked as the demon shut the door, Sesshomaru making his way over to her side, his body sliding in to make sure she was buckled in safely.

"Really," he told her smiling, "he looked for that necklace for a month before he found it when we took a business trip in France in a small little handcrafted jewelry shop, he thought it was perfect."

"I like it."

"Yeah," Sesshomaru murmured, "I do too."

Aimi smiled while the demon kissed her forehead before he pulled back to shut the door, the little girl noticing her cousin's curiosity as she leaned to let him see the lily, her eyes catching sight of her aunt waving from the window, her own hand waving back as she smiled happily before she reached into her backpack to pull out a framed photograph of her mother and father, the two of them smiling as though they knew she was going to be just fine with her Godparents and cousins.
