"Oh, Rose. I just can't believe it- 7th Year already, and Head Girl to boot. Of course, nobody doubted that position would become yours, dear. Did I mention how proud I am of you?" My mother throws her words at me quickly. I laugh as she blinks quickly.

"Mum," I reply patiently, "you've told me everyday since I had gotten that letter how proud you are of me. Now let's go, I want to get settled into a compartment before going to the meeting." She nods, trying to gather herself. My dad just grins at both of us from a safe distance. Even after all these years of being married to her, my dad still can't handle mum's waterworks.

"Yes, Rosie. Get good grades, keep McGonagall free of a cardiac arrest, beat everyone in everything, and have fun," My dad said, playfully ticking off his fingers. I giggle, and it's my mum's turn to look on fondly. While she and I are close, we never really achieved that special bond Dad and I had. He leans in for a tight hug, and I bury my face in his chest.

"Oh, and Rosie? Don't forget to leave the old place with a bang, and make sure to steer clear of the male population, if you please," he adds, whispering his words into my ears. I shake my head and roll my eyes. Same old dad.

"I love you, dad. You'll always be the first guy in my life," I reassure weakly. He nods, looking extremely entitled

"Well, of course. I wouldn't expect anything less, would I?" I laugh and turn to see my extended family, the Potters', racing towards us.

I grin at Al and Lily while hugging both Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny goodbye.

"Do write, darling. I understand that we're old and 'uncool' but we'd like to know what happens in your life from time-to-time," Ginny teased, kissing my cheek. Harry chuckled before kissing my other cheek and pulling me in for a big hug.

"Be good, Rose, and be safe." He said before releasing me and moving to Hugo, my younger brother.

Al slings his arm over my shoulder and sighs, putting his other hand to his forehead.

"Oh, dear Rose, how are you? How have you been?" He makes a big show of looking sad.

"Ah, I haven't seen you in so long! A whole 36 hours! I counted down every minute until I would be able to see you again, my darling cousin. Why we are kept apart for so long befuddles me." I shove him away from me, laughing.

"Oh, shut up, you giant prat," I reply, smacking the back of his head. He grins.

"Let's go find ourselves a nice compartment," Lily cuts in. Lily Potter, my other cousin, cuts in, smiling. She and Al nimbly leap onto the train while I clumsily grab hold of the rail by the entrance. Damn their Quidditch skills (and my lack of them). I wave goodbye to my parents for the last time as the train pulls out of the station.

That's when the enormity of my situation hits me. Here I was, in my final year at Hogwarts, as Head Girl. This year was definitely going to be interesting.

As I hoisted my trunk and bag into the compartment, I idly wonder who the Head Boy was.

I knew it wasn't Al (too much of an arse), or Lorcan Scamander. He was the more sensible of the two twins, so I naturally believed he would be appointed. I knew that Lysander would not be Head Boy, but only because his head was so above the clouds that he was practically in the ozone layer. I shrug. I wouldn't really mind anyone, except for- I force the thought out of my head. I didn't want to overthink during the short time I have before the meeting about the horrific possibilities only to figure out that the Head Boy was a normal person.

"Rose!" A streak of blond hair slammed into me, squealing. Chuckling, I hug her back.

"Well, Alice Longbottom. It was nice to see you too. Next time, could you possibly refrain from breaking my ribs, dear?" I tease, looking down at her.

Alice Longbottom, my best friend outside of my blood family, was diminutive. While I stood at a semi-respectable 5'6, she barely skimmed 5'3.

Not that boys seemed to mind, as her looks completely made up for her lack of height. Beautiful blue eyes set in a round, friendly face that was framed by layers of wavy blond hair made Alice a sight to see.

"Why hello fair maiden," Al interjects smoothly, "It's simply wonderful to meet you again."

She giggles at his blatant lie. We all had seen each other two days ago for our going-back-to-school celebration.

"Of course. And I am delighted to return to your company as well, good sir," Alice replied, faking a small curtsey for good measure.

I find myself laughing at their antics. I shake my head at both of them affectionately. Some things would never really change.

"Rosie, it's time to go," Lily turned back and sniffed disdainfully at the two.

"Well, us rule enforcers will be on our way. Try not to blow up the train, please." They shrug, and I add in a mini-lecture about taking points from my own family and friends again.

I had to make that speech 347 times last year, when I was a mere prefect.

"Can't make too many promises, can we Albus?" Alice replies cheekily. I internally groan, preparing myself to return to some form of chaos.

Apparently, Lily had underestimated the time it would take to find the Prefects' compartment.

We ended up running around the train, frantically searching for a sign of the new authority figures. I dash blindly around yet another corner, and immediately come into contact with a body.

"Oh, I'm so sor-" I immediately cut myself off when I find the head attached to that body.

"Scorpius Malfoy! Watch out, you could have killed me! You should be more careful." I sneer, my voice venomous.

I had every right to be angry, after all.

Here was the bane of my existence, arrogantly strolling along the corridors like he owned the damn Hogwarts Express (which he didn't, as I had checked before), acting as smug and superior as he always did.

He raises an eyebrow as he takes in my dishevelled appearance. I wince inwardly when I remember I was not wearing my robes.

"Well, Weaselette Jr., I don't remember there being a rule about wandering the halls of the Hogwarts Express. Furthermore, it was your misshapen body that crashed into mine, so I wouldn't be yelling at me if I were you. And the last thing is that I don't take kindly to being accosted by someone who looks as if they had just stepped off of the lesser fortunate streets of London," his eyes run critically up and down my body as I resist the temptation to smack him, "so I would keep your bloody unnecessary comments to yourself. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be and fortunately, it's not here." He sweeps off, leaving me and Lily behind. She turns to me and rolls her eyes.

"Well, he hasn't changed one bit, hasn't he? Still as charming and polite as ever, the little bastard." I chuckle and reluctantly let her inappropriate use of language slide.

This is exactly why I hate Scorpius Malfoy. He's made my life hell the past few years. I smile evilly as I think of all the damage I can do to him now that I was Head Girl.

'Of course,' I reason, 'I would only use it until he learned not to cross me.' I broke out of my one-sided conversation with a nudge and a triumphant yell from Lily.

"Here it is," she exclaims, sliding the door open. The compartment, which seems to be magically enlarged, is already full of 5th (mostly 6th) year prefects. I only recognize a few of them.

I see Maria Nott and Thomas Goyle (Slytherin), Baldor McLaggen and Lillian Bole of Hufflepuff, Lara Patil and Stewart Macmillan (fellow Ravenclaws), and Derrick Edwards (the same house and year as Lily: Gryffindor 5th year).

I discretely scan the compartment, looking for Head Boy. Where was he? I shake my head disapprovingly at his lateness. After all, he was a role model to the rest of these prefects! He should have been here earlier or on time.

I clear my throat, trying to catch the attention of the prefects.

"Hello, I'm Rose Weasley, and I'll be Head Girl-" I begin only to be cut off by a deep voice.

"And I'm Scorpius Malfoy. I'm Head Boy." I spin around, praying it isn't true. I spot him leaning against the door, smirking. I nearly burst into tears when I spot the shiny badge pinned to his grey sweater.

"What the bloody hell?" I cry, ignoring the fact that I was in a room full of prefects.

Malfoy? Head Boy? WHAT?!

Kill me now. Just avada me now!

Well, hello readers! This is the new and improved version of 'Avada Me Now.' When I first began that story, I was a very inexperienced writer. Now, it's been over a year since that fanfiction was published, and I know I've definitely grown as a writer and editor.

So while this story will be similar in some ways, it will definitely be different in quality and some content.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you'll leave a review as to whether you liked it or not.
