This is my take on the last moments of Lordgenome, my favorite Gurren Lagann Character.

The Spiral Knight.

I am no King. Just a simple Warrior.

These are the words spoken between two men, each with immeasurable power. Both men, headed toward the same end, a new beginning.

These are the thoughts of the greatest Spiral Knight to ever live.

They would perish.

That much was certain.

The Anti-Spiral had torn apart the very fabric of reality, and channeled its fury into an attack of insane magnitude. Infinity Big Bang Storm, the attack which destroyed the heavens. Even the vast power that Simon possessed would not be enough to stop it. With one stroke, the despair the Anti-Spiral preached would be absolute, and none of them would survive.

This did not please the Spiral Knight. They had come this far. Simon had reclaimed the Anti-Spiral Messenger. He had surpassed Lordgenome's most potent display of power. It was almost sad. He himself had lost the war in his time, and Simon had come so close. Still. It was to be expected. The Anti-Spiral was so far beyond the Spiral Races, and even with their halted Evolution they were eons ahead of the Spirals.

Simon would fall. Dead, like every other Spiral King, (and, Lordgenome had to admit, Simon deserved the title) had before. Lost to despair. His chance of survival, let alone victory, were less than 0%.

No.

Lordgenome smiled. The Anti-Spirals philosophy was easy to accept, but with Simon, a chance of zero percent might as well be one hundred. Still, prehaps he need some help.

The Big Bang Storm was merely a few seconds away, but that was all that he would need.

"Simon, leave this one to me."

With a titanic effort, the Spiral Knight tore free from the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. He wouldn't need the larger machine. All that was required was his trusty Lazengann.

Lordgenome even had a plan, as opposed to the majority of Spiral Warriors.

It was painful, standing in the path of that much energy, but he was a Spiral Knight, and little things like pain had ceased to matter. With a grunt of exertion, Lordgenome activated his trump card. Purple and green warred for a moment, before his will brought the currents of energy under control. The shape it took was fitting, and Lordgenome would not have expected any less.

Lordgenome stared back at the current pinnacle of Simon's power.

It could be made greater, he realized in a flash. It only required more energy. His face contorted from the strain of holding together such wild energy, Lordgenome screamed.

"Simon. Take It."

Simon grabbed the Drill, Lordgenome's soul. He pulled it inside the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, absorbing the energy.

Any lesser Spiral would have lost cohesive consciousness, but Lordgenome held together. Laboriously, he forced his energy up to the cockpit, shattering the Spiral Gauge. Simon was there, and his daughter. Adding all of his power to Simon, Lordgenome listened proudly to his son in law, as he rallied the troops for a final attack. Vaguely, he could here the Anti-Spiral raging, but none of that mattered. Using the Spiral Knight's energy, Simon called out an finishing move. In turn, all of the Gunmen from the long road they had all walked, flew outward, doing its part.

Finally, only the Gurren was left, propelling Nia, Simon, and the fading remanent of Lordgenome's consciousness into the Anti-Spiral Homeworld.

His final victory won, Lordgenome began to fade, no longer needing to stay in the world. Still, he had some final words for Simon only.

"I was never a King, just a simple Warrior. Do not set yourself above them, for when you place yourself in that position, you lose what it means to be human."

With these final words, Lordgenome, human Spiral Knight, faded from existence, leaving nothing but his wisdom, and his memory.
