Lily and Alice gasped as they opened the door to Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop, dripping wet from the rain.
"Merlin, I'm freezing!" Alice cried, her arms wrapped around her chest, in an effort to get warm.
"You do realize that you're a witch, don't you?" Lily asked taking out her wand and pointing it at Alice muttering a spell, a moment later Alice was dried and warm.
Lily pointed the wand at herself and muttered the same spell, she then dried the wet spots on the floor before putting her wand back in satisfaction.
"Oh right, thanks Lily." Alice said with a blush.
"No problem, want to get something to eat and drink?" Lily asked.
"Sure why not, although I wish we had gone somewhere else, this place is way too girly for me."
"Same, but with it raining outside we really had no choice."
"True," Alice replied. Together the two of them found an empty place to sit and Madam Puddifoot walked over to order.
"Hello dears, what are we having today?"
"A salad and some tea please." Lily said.
"Cookies and tea for me please." Alice said causing Lily to look at her.
"What? You know how much I love sweets," Alice said causing Lily to laugh.
"Alright, it'll be right over," Madam Puddifoot said leaving the two of them alone.
Alice turned to look at Lily, a concerned look on her face.
"So you've been acting kind of quiet lately, would you like to tell me what's going on with you?" Alice asked frowned an uncertain look on her face. She needed to tell someone but wasn't sure how to go about it.
"There is something that I need to talk about," Lily admitted.
"I knew it! Just the way that you've been acting lately has made me think that there's something going on with you, so what is it?"
'It's now or never," Lily thought to herself, letting out a breath that she hadn't realized that she had been holding.
Madam Puddifoot came back in with the food and placed it on the table. "Here you are dears, if you'd like anything else feel free to ask." She said with a smile.
"Thank you," Lily and Alice said in unison.
"You're welcome dears," Madam Puddifoot said giving them another smile before leaving again.
"Okay so what is it?" Alice asked turning back to Lily.
"I'm pregnant." Lily blurted out causing Alice to look at her with surprise before leaping out of her chair, causing it to hit the floor as Alice went over to hug Lily
"Oh Lily that's wonderful! You're pregnant, does James know? How did he react when you told him? How far along are you? A little baby in the picture, that's just so wonderful!" Alice cried hugging onto Lily.
Lily laughed and shook her head. "Alice calm down and breath through your sentences!"
Alice blushed furiously and let go of Lily, she moved back to where her chair had fallen and picked it up before sitting back down.
"Sorry Lily, I'm just so happy for you! This is great news!" Alice said.
Lily smiled at her friend. "Thanks Alice I'm happy too, but I'm also extremely nervous."
Alice looked at Lily with understanding. "I get it, being a parent will be a brand new experience for the two of you, how did James react when he heard the news?" Alice asked.
"Well that's the thing, I haven't actually told him yet." Lily said with a blush as Alice starred at her with shock.
"What?! You haven't told him yet, why?" She asked.
"I'm nervous about what his reaction will be," Lily admitted softly as she bowed her head in shame.
"Oh Lily are you kidding me? He'll be estactic! He'll love the fact that you're pregnant!" Alice said.
"I know, I'm being silly, i'ts just that this is our first child, what if he doesn't want to be a father yet?" Lily asked.
"I'm sure he wants to be a father, he's not the same person he was at Hogwarts, he'll love to be a father." Alice said.
Lily smiled at her feeling relieved. Alice was right, he had changed and would be happy to be a father, she couldn't wait to tell him.
