So I was sitting at a nail salon playing temple run, very tired and with a headache from the fumes. Then this happened. I'm still not sure how. Enjoy!

I am greeted by harsh daylight as I escape from the ancient ruins.

I know not why I am here, only that the monsters still chase me.

I hear growling behind me, a painful reminder that I am prey.

My feet falter as they approach a sudden dead end.

To my right, there is a bridge, crumbled and decrepit. To my left, the path appears sturdy.

A force pulls me to the left, and for the moment I am safe.

I continue to run, changing directions, getting faster with each step.

My breath becomes heavy and ragged and my vision begins to blur.

My dress rips as my foot catches on a branch that reaches up through the path.

I hear a sharp crack as my foot hits the trunk. It goes numb.

The feeling is replaced by a blinding pain when it crashes against the ground.

The monster's hot, foul breath reaches my neck.

Their teeth gnash behind me as my pace slows.

But there will be no rest if I want to live.

My pace quickens again, and soon I am sprinting.

Everything around me turns to a blur.

The only clue as to where I am is the feeling of my body turning left, right, jumping up, sliding down.

I have no control over my legs, yet I continue to run.

Several times I trip, breaking my feet even further, but I am running too fast to feel the pain.

My mouth is dry, sweat stinging in the cuts and scrapes I've gathered, my muscles screaming in agony.

I steal a glance behind me. The monsters are still there.

Always right behind me, no matter how far I run, no matter how fast I go.

It hits me that I will never outrun them.

The only way I will ever be able to escape these beasts is to go where they cannot reach me.

At the next bend in the path, I will myself not to turn.

Instead, I run straight forward, off of the yellow brick prison and into the unknown.

I hit water and begin to sink, far too tired to swim.

The monsters gather around the edge of the path.

The last things I see are their evil, skeletal faces.

I let the water drag me down…

A force pulls me upward, and soon I am flying over the endless maze of gold.

I wonder if I have died; finally escaped from the monsters.

I smile. It is all over.

Suddenly, I am dropped in front of the temple; the one from which I escaped.

The monsters are at my heels again, waiting to devour me.

So I run.
