ladybugsmomma prompted: Belle having their second daughter. This was kind of vague so I hope this works :)
Napping. Belle was supposed to be napping. But she was restless and doing nothing but tossing and turning in her bed. And she was craving cookies. Some nice hot, steamy, sugar cookies with a tall glass of milk. Oh her mouth was watering just thinking about it and yes, she was determined to have it.
Climbing out of bed, she put on a pair of comfortable shoes and practically waddled downstairs. Her enormous belly made it almost impossible to do anything these days. Hopefully the baby would come soon. It was due any day now.
She knew Rumplestiltskin would be livid with her for getting up, but she also knew he was up in the lab practicing magic with Elsa. If she were careful enough, he would never know she was disobeying.
She had no idea where Bae was, but if she did run into him, he wouldn't tattle on her.
Most likely he was off in his room. He spent a lot of time there recently and she was pretty sure it was because he was getting older. He was almost eighteen now and she knew the boy was itching to leave the castle, but Rumplestiltskin did not seem to want to let him.
Belle had tried to soften her husband up, explaining to him that Bae could not stay here forever; he needed to live a life of his own. But Rumplestiltskin kept brushing her off, refusing to acknowledge the truth. She knew he was having a hard time accepting it.
Well she would just have to keep working on him, but right now, right now she was going to work on baking cookies.
Once in the kitchen, Belle pulled out all the ingredients she would need and set to work, humming softly to herself. As she mixed the batter, her mind wondered about many things: when the baby would arrive, how Elsa would react, how Rumple was getting along teaching Elsa, what to do about Bae. Her mind was everywhere and she couldn't focus on just one thing.
Suddenly a sharp pain shot through her stomach. It was so unexpected that it caused her to drop the bowl of mix and her spoon as she doubled over. "Oh owwwww…" she sobbed as she froze, trying to stay calm and work through the pain as she waited for it to pass. It had come out of nowhere, but she knew exactly what it meant: the baby was on the way.
A minute later the pain subsided and Belle took a deep breath. Not bothering to clean up the mess, she made her way over to the kitchen table to have a seat, preparing to call out for Rumple, knowing he would hear her no matter where he was.
But before she did, there was another contraction causing her to cry out again instead. The contractions had come out of nowhere and brought tears to her eyes. With Elsa, they had been more gradual. She had had time to prepare. It seemed this baby was different and didn't want to waste any time arriving.
Belle closed her eyes and took deep breaths as she waited for this one to pass.
"Oh, are you okay?" came a voice from beside her.
She replied automatically, not even thinking about the fact that she had just been alone. "Yes, I think so. It's just…" Belle cut herself off as she realized she didn't recognize the voice that was addressing her. Her eyes suddenly went wide as she sat up. Someone was in her house besides her family. If they were to have a visitor, Rumplestiltskin would have notified her and no one could get in without permission.
Slowly she turned her head to the side to see the intruder. Instantly, she gasped loudly and nearly fell out of the chair, only catching herself just in time. There standing right at her feet was a small snowman with bright eyes and a very big goofy grin. He was missing a nose, but still a cute little thing. And he was alive…alive…
"You…you're a snowman," Belle stuttered.
The snowman nodded. "And you're a human."
Belle stared down at the thing, having no idea what to say in response to that. She really had no clue what to say at all. A talking snowman? Now she had seen everything.
"I'm Olaf!" he said breaking the uncomfortable silence, although Belle was pretty sure it was one sided. This snowman looked happier than ever, like he didn't have a care in the world.
She continued staring at it. Should she tell it her name? Or should she just call for Rumple? Had he made this? Or…oh gods…had Elsa made it? But she didn't have magic! Not the kind of magic that could bring things to life! Or did she? Her nor Rumple didn't completely understand everything she could do. Maybe she had done this…
Out of nowhere, Elsa came sprinting into the kitchen with her father only a few steps behind her. "Olaf! Oh there you are! I told you to stay with me!" she scolded as she came up beside the snowman.
"You said we could explore, I was just exploring," Olaf replied looking at the little girl who took a hold of his hand-well, the stick that posed as a hand.
"Elsa, we need to take him back to the lab before your mother…" Rumplestiltskin was saying as he stepped up behind the pair. His sentence too was cut off when he saw the very woman he was referring to was seated at the table directly in front of them. "Oh, Belle," he started with a sheepish look on his face, clearly not expecting to have run into her. "I thought you were resting upstairs?"
"I was, but then I had a craving for cookies. So I came downstairs…ahhhhhhh!" Belle screamed out of nowhere and clutched her stomach as another contraction shot through her body.
Rumplestiltskin was at her side immediately, crouching down and putting his arms around her. "Belle!" he exclaimed, his face wrought with worry. "It everything alright? Are you going into labor?" There had been times when she had had false pains and he wasn't ever sure how to tell the difference between those and the real thing.
Belle was holding her breath and she slowly released it, nodding as the contraction subsided. "Yes, I think so."
Jumping to his feet, Rumplestiltskin reached out for Belle and helped her to stand. "Come, we need to get you to the bedroom." He cast a quick glance over at Elsa who was looking terrified for her mother, everything else completely forgotten. "Elsa, go find Baelfire now and tell him to come here," Rumplestiltskin demanded.
"Mommy's having the baby?" she asked, fearful that something else was happening, something horrible.
Rumplestiltskin gave Elsa a reassuring smile. "Yes, mommy is having the baby."
Elsa was suddenly not so upset anymore. Instead, she beamed and took off as fast as she could to find her brother, leaving Olaf behind.
He stood there, still smiling as big as ever as he took a few steps toward Belle. "Oh you're having a baby? I love babies!" He paused and furrowed his brow in deep thought. "At least I think I do. You know I've never even met a baby…maybe I don't like them." His eyes glanced back up as he met Rumple and Belle's gaze again. "Are they scary? Oh I do hope they're not scary!"
Belle just tilted her head and looked frustrated. This situation might not normally bother her, but under the circumstances she could not put up with it. "Rumplestiltskin could you please tell me why there's a live, talking snowman standing in my kitchen?"
"Eh…" Rumple looked between Olaf and Belle. "We can discuss it later Belle. Right now, it's more important we prepare for the arrival of this baby."
Belle's hormones took over then, dictating her emotions as she burst into tears and causing her to say things that didn't make sense or that she might not otherwise mean. "But I can't have this thing roaming the castle while I'm having a baby! What if it tries to hurt Elsa or it might melt and ruin the carpet in the Main Hall, or maybe it will want to have our baby for dinner!"
That notion was absolutely ridiculous and Rumplestiltskin knew if Belle was herself she never would have suggested it. But she needed to concentrate on having this baby and nothing else, so he would have to remedy the situation. "Don't worry love, I'll take care of it," he said soothingly, trying to calm her down. He looked at Olaf and held out his hand. "You must go little creature."
"Go?" the snowman said, his smile faltering for the first time that day. "Aww. But we were having so much fun."
"We shall meet again, you have my word," Rumplestiltskin told him before he waved his hand summoning magic that made Olaf disappear. When the cloud of smoke dissipated, there was no trace that he had ever even been there.
Rumple smiled at Belle. "There nothing to worry about."
"You know you're going to have to explain that to your daughter," Belle said light heartedly, her tears completely gone now. She offered Rumple a small smile that instantly disappeared when another contraction wracked through her. "Oww!" she cried out, clutching her stomach.
Rumplestiltskin had a firm grip on her, making sure she didn't topple. When he was sure the pain had passed he began to lead her out of the kitchen and upstairs.
"Don't fret my dearest, Elsa will understand. Now upstairs. It's time for us to meet our new little girl or boy."
