Chapter four is up and I hope it's a good one.
Thanks for all the support my friends, you're the people that keep these stories alive :)
"Normal talk"
"Thinking"
Back north, Hunter Point of view.
I woke up and sat up opening my eyes as the morning sun rose up from its place of rest, nearly blinding me. "Son of a bitch!" I yelled mentally as I threw my hands in front of my face, why was the sun in my face!? I felt around my head and saw that my hood was down, I reached back and pulled it up over my head to cover my eyes, the sun hurts.
Why was I here again? I looked around and saw the human known as Zoey sleeping soundly on the floor about four feet away from me.
"Oh. Forgot." I helped her the other day. "I wonder if she is still alive." I thought as I crept over to her. Sweat had formed on her brow and it didn't appear that she was breathing.
Uh oh. I leaned in and placed my head on her chest to see if there was a heartbeat, Zoey then to my surprise and mild embarrassment opened her eyes and saw me, she gasped and reached for what I guess was her gun only to see it wasn't there.
But after a bit she calmed down and remembered I guess that I was the strange hunter that saved her. "Oh um. Hey." She said to me still a little freaked out by a hunter being in near her and not pouncing and clawing her to into tiny sticky fleshy pieces.
We sat in silence for about five minutes before she decided to break the ice. "So… how ya doing?" She asked, scratching the back of her head nervously, I shrugged and made my way to the door leading outside.
In the Store, Zoey Point of view.
"Okay woke up with a hunter with its head on my chest. Not weirdly perverted at all." I thought as I shifted on the floor, my ass had fallen asleep. "I wonder how the others are doing without me. Well no point in sitting around on my ass, might as well get moving and try and regroup with them." I told myself as I got up slowly.
The hunter looked at me in question and became a little worried when I swayed a bit. He came back over and stood his full height, now that it was daytime I could make out the hunter's features. he stood about six feet tall! "Damn!" he's a tall ass hunter and instead of a blue hoodie like some of them, he wore a black zip hoodie and stone washed jeans with combat boots. I couldn't see his face due to the hood and also some kind of necklace around his neck.
"What's that?" I asked him pointing to the necklace he had, the hunter looked at it and held it in his Hand before showing it to me. It was a heart necklace broken down the middle with the initials 'R' on it and half a plus sign. "R? Is that your name?" I asked.
He shrugged, guess he forgot.
"Okay, I can play this game." I said, thinking up names that begun with R. "Robbie?"
He shook his head.
"Robert?"
He shook his head.
"Rick?"
He shook his head again.
"Richard? Is tha-"
He shook his head once more.
"Okay then how about. Robbie!?" He facepalmed, why? Oh I already said that. "I give, I can't think of anymore names."
He tilted his head and made some growling noises, not threatening growls though, sounded more annoying.
"Eh." I said, I didn't understand. Then I remembered my gun. "Do, you know where my gun is? I'm going to need so I can find my group, you remember them right?" I asked, he nodded albeit it was a small one of fear. "Could, could you go find my gun?"
He smiled a toothy grin and walked over to the door and went outside, he closed the door behind him and that was that. I sighed heavily and grabbed another one of those bars from the box and lazily chewed it.
Outside the store, Hunter Point of view.
Zoey had asked me to go and find her gun, which if I remember is a long piece of wood with metal on it. I stood on my heels and started sniffing the air for Zoey's scent and I found it coming from another building sitting next to the one I left Zoey in.
I walked over to it and saw a broken window on the third floor. I sighed as I crouched down and leapt up to the window, but I missed and hit the second instead. *Shit!* I cursed as I gripped onto the window frame for dear life, I almost slipped but I managed to hold on.
Then I started climbing, I ascended until I reached the window and climbed inside. Broken glass crunched underneath my feet, the inside was thrashed beyond recognition. Desks were turned over and papers were scattered around the place along with pens and pencils and the like.
Over on the other side of the room under one of the desks sat her gun, the long piece of wood that shoots fire. I picked it up and held it and it was rather heavy, maybe three pounds. "This thing is heavy." I thought as I made my way back over to the window, I looked out and saw it had begun to rain once more this time more heavily.
I decided to take to stairs instead so I ran over to the door that led to the stairs an opened it and started to descend them at a quick pace, but I went too fast and ended up tripping and falling down them rather hard. *Ah shit!* I swear I hit every step with my head before reaching the bottom, thankfully I have a hard head but it still hurt like a bitch.
I shook my throbbing head and got back up and headed for the door, I opened it and I was greeted with one of the halls. I stepped out of the stairwell and made my way to the front of the building, as I did an unfamiliar scent hit my nose, it wasn't dead, but it wasn't alive either. "What?" I crept towards the odd scent and found it coming from the lobby of the building.
I made it to the lobby and looked around the corner and I saw an infected standing prone. "Just an infected." I thought, but this one looked different though.
Its skin was paler and rotted then some of the infected I've seen and its clothes were ripped and shredded, and I could make a bite mark of the neck and shoulder. Art of its jaw line was gone showing torn muscle and gashes.
"Gross." I thought as I stepped out and walked past him, I was about to leave but it lashed out with a guttural growl and grabbed me. *Hey!* I yelled as I dropped the gun, it clattered as the infected somehow knocked me to the ground. The weird infected had a death grip on me as it tried to bite me anywhere it could.
Taking action I got my legs under him and kicked him off, sending him flying towards the wall, the infected hit the wall hard and went through it landing on the other side. I quickly got up and grabbed the rifle before walking over to the hole in the wall. I assumed the infected was dead but he wasn't, he moaned and slowly rose up from where he was laying, his neck was snapped so it just hung there sideways at an awkward angle.
"What the hell?" I thought as it stumbled towards me, it tripped on the debris from the hole and fell as I turned around and ran out the door. "That was… odd." I thought as I made my way back to Zoey.
Streets of the city, Third Person Point of view
"Zoey!?" Louis yelled, looking around hoping to spot her. "Where are you?!"
Bill took yet another drag of his cigarette and exhaled. "Calm down Louis, I'm sure she's fine, she's a tough girl."
Francis let out a grunt as he stumbled over a dead body. "Ah damn it!" he exclaimed, he turned around and kicked the body making it roll over, showing a head with no face, it had been chewed off. "Where the hell did she wander off to?"
After they managed to kill the Tank, which had gotten pissed and ran right into the gas tanks blowing itself up, they had been looking for Zoey for what seemed like hours, they hadn't found any trace of her sadly.
"Zoey!" Francis yelled, cupping his hands. All that did was draw the attention of some nearby infected which were promptly blown away by his shotgun's blast of pellets.
The three then heard a clatter and a soft thump come from behind them, prompting them to whirl around where they spotted a hunter, carrying a hunting rifle in his claws.
"What the hell?" Bill started, raising his M16A2 at the hunter who stared back at them.
"These are the survivors who were with Zoey!" The Hunter Realized as he recognized them. But before he could do anything the trio opened fire on him, which he barely escaped. He leapt out of the way towards an alleyway just as a bullet grazed his shoulder. "Ah hell!" he thought in pain as he landed on top of a building, he crouched down as the group scanned the area.
"Was that Hunter carrying a Rifle?" Louis asked, scanning the tops of the buildings with a keen eye.
"Zoey's?" Bill asked, training his rifle to where he saw the Hunter land. "Why would a hunter be carrying a rifle Louis?" He questioned.
"I say let's blast the sweatshirt wearing little wuss and keep looking for Zoey," Francis suggested, starting off after the Hunter with his shotgun loaded and ready for shooting.
"Wait, shouldn't we go after Zoey first?" Louis asked, Zoey was more important than a lousy Hunter.
"The Kid's right Francis," Bill started, "Zoey first. Now come on." Bill turned around and resumed the search for the girl.
Francis huffed as he joined them, Louis was still wondering why that hunter had a rifle. Were the infected learning how to use firearms? If so then Louis Francis and Bill, as well as Zoey would be in a lot of trouble. He turned around and walked back over to Bill and Francis, he prayed they would find Zoey safe and sound soon.
Back with Zoey, third person view
Zoey had grown bored of waiting and started looking around the store she stood in, after managing to stand, she started rooting around the store. She had heard gunshots not too long ago, and figured it was Bill and them, meaning they were alive, so she had to go find them before they leave without her.
Her were eyebrows furrowed and eyes squinted as she looked through a box on the floor. She was looking for something sharp, why?
Yes the hunter did not hurt her, but she still had to be careful, he might just turn around and maul her. She shivered at that though, "I hope that doesn- Hey A knife!" she exclaimed in thought, she reached into the box and pulled out a long six inch steak knife. The blade was stainless steel and the handle simple plastic and held with small screws, and from the looks of it… sharp, very.
The blade glinted in the light showing a reflection behind her, she saw a hooded figure so whipping around she saw the hunter that left not too long ago, and in his hands he held her hunting rifle.
She bit her lip and put the knife on the counter, her eyes were focused on the hunter as a bead of sweat ran down her forehead, "Hey, you, you found it."
He walked over to her and, with his head slanted down he held it out to her.
She bit her lip once more before taking it from him and checking it. The rifle looked to be in good shape, the scope was undamaged and the barrel wasn't bent as far as she could tell. She pulled out the clip and saw it had five bullets left, she put it back in with a heavy sigh before pulling back the bolt and turning the safety on.
She looked to the hunter and saw his head was still slanted down a bit, she wondered what would everyone else think of this? She could take him with her, but… would he stay as he is? Or would he try to attack her? He did catch her when she went flying form the tank's attack… so, maybe.
"Um, hey.. Hunter?" she started, having some thoughts run through her head about why she was about to ask this.
The hunter looked up at her, his face was still concealed, but she could still make out his mouth and some fangs. He tilted his head and squeaked. "Reeah?" He voiced.
She tapped her rifle with her forefinger and continued. "Um, do you… want to come with me?" The survivor asked the hunter, more or less she felt stupid for asking this.
The hunter thought about this, she wanted him to come with? "Maybe she can help me find out what is missing." With that, he nodded with a grin.
Zoey smiled slightly, maybe he wasn't so bad after all, "Okay, but I think I'm going to call you R, cause… well, I can't just call you hunter all the time."
R nodded, liking his new name he smiled a toothy smile.
"This'll be fun to explain to everyone," Zoey thought as she walked over to the door and opening it, she then proceeded to make her way over to Mercy hospital, no doubt everyone would be there.
