It was a quiet evening. The entire household was enjoying a cup of tea and cucumber sandwiches in the kitchen. Layton would have enjoyed it far more had his not been itching like crazy.
"Professah, do you have lice?"
"Not to my knowledge but anything's possible."
"Lice? Why I never!" came a meak little voice. "I've never been this insulted!"
Everyone at the table looked around, trying to locate the voice. To their amusement and to Layton's horror, they found that the voice came from underneath the Professor's hat which was currently situated atop his head.
"Excuse me?" Luke asked politely. "Could you please identify yourself?"
"Well, since you asked so nicely."
The hat was then lifted ever so slightly to reveal a little white mouse.
Luke couldn't contain his excitement. "You're so cute! And you can talk! Wow!"
Everyone at the table, including the Professor, were left speachless. This was the first time they'd actually been able to understand an animal, not counting that one rabbit...
"How did you get under the Professah's hat?" Luke asked the mouse curiously.
"Simple. I travel through dimensions through these weak spots in space."
"Weak spots?"
"Anomalies. Though to be honest, I never imagined I'd end up in a hat. There's a first time for everything."
Everyone else seemed to finally get their bearings at this point.
"You heard that, Professor? Your hat's an anomaly!"
The Professor felt slightly insulted by this. His hat was nothing of the sort!
"You know," the mouse said, "that would explain a lot of things."
"How so?"
"Have you even seen the inside of this thing? Hey, you, Professor guy," the mouse tried to get his attention. "You might want to go to the doctor and get this checked."
The Professor knew exactly what the mouse was refering to and really didn't want anyone else to know about it.
"What are you talking about?"
"NOTHING!" the Professor practically yelled.
Knowing it was wise not to ask about it again, Luke tried to change the subject.
"You travel dimensions? What have you seen?"
"What have I seen? I've seen a teen stuck in a kid's body. I've seen a skeleton trying to be the greatest in the galaxy (whatever that means). I've seen a pineapple under the sea, inhabited by a sponge. Don't ask," it said, seeing everyone's quizzical look. "And now, I've seen a rip in the fabric of time and space inside a hat! Seriously though," it turned its attention back to Layton, "that is a health hazard you might want to look into."
"Please, stop."
"Oh, this is just wonderful, Hershel!"
The lights were dim in the fancy restaurant, the food was delicious and it wasn't overly crowded. Perfect! As it should be; it was a special night, after all.
"Claire, I do have something most important that I want to tell you."
"Oh? Go on."
Standing up, Layton cleared his throat and started talking. "Well, I..."
Before he could continue, however, he was interrupted by a loud "Professor!" Turning around, he was (to his horror) met with the familiar face of Rosetta Stone. "How DARE you betray the trust between us by going out with this...this...HAG!"
Claire looked as if she considered getting insulted but decided against it. Instead, she just sat there with an amused glint in her eyes.
"Now, Miss Stone, I assure you that this trust you thought were between us is nothing more than a..."
"LIE! Thank you, I've noticed. All the precious moments we had together..."
"I wouldn't quite call them precious..."
"All your letters I've intercepted..."
"You WHAT?!"
"All of it for nothing! Well, no more! This is the last time you'll ever get to see me again... That is, when we aren't in class... You know what I mean! GOODBYE! SEE YOU MONDAY!" And with that she was out the door.
"Well, that could have gone better...could've gone worse, too, but..."
"Now that that's over, I do believe you had something you wanted to tell me?"
"Of course!" Turning around to face his girlfriend, Layton once again cleared his throat. "We've known each other for so long...not counting death and revival, of course...and I feel that we've reached a point in our relationship where there is only one possible way to properly express my feelings. Claire, will you ma..."
"STOP! Hold your horses! Has anyone remembered a camera?" said a very, very familiar voice.
'You've got to be kidding me!' the Professor thought, annoyed.
Behind were most his friends gathered. The voice belonged to Clive who was standing in the front, looking at everyone else there pointedly. He was also wearing a t-shirt which had the words "H+C=MY OTP" written on it. Weird. His gaze finally landed on Emmy.
"Emmy, you're the camera girl. Where's your camera?"
"MY camera? Why didn't you just bring your own?"
"Because YOU'RE here? Why else would you be here?"
"Because you called and said you had something interesting to show me!"
"And you didn't bring your camera WHY?!"
"It needs repairs."
"Why didn't you tell me?!"
"Why didn't you ask?"
"ENOUGH!"
Everyone turned their eyes to Layton who was about ready to rip out his own hair in frustration. "Would you PLEASE just STOP fighting and let me ask my girlfriend a VERY important question?"
Everyone looked at everyone else and nodded. "Yeah sure, seems fair."
"Good." Turning to face his girlfriend once again, clearing his throat ONCE AGAIN, he said, "Claire, what I want to ask you is..."
Someone squealed.
"Will you..."
Another squeal.
"PLEASE STOP SQUEALING!" Layton looked pointedly back at the group behind him.
"I'm not squealing."
Layton looked back at her, embarrassed. "I-I didn't mean you...they...I mean..."
She looked at him calmly. "Relax. Take a deep breath and try again."
"Yes," he said. "Marry, do you want to clai...FUCK!"
Someone snickered behind him. He could have sworn it sounded like Paul.
"Okay. One last chance. Claire, will you marry me?"
The serious look in her eyes made him uncertain for a moment, until it was washed away by a far warmer one. "I thought you'd never ask."
She wasn't sure what they were watching, and even if she did it wouldn't make her feel much better about it. All the Professor had done was accepting a... Smash Brothers invitation? They weren't quite sure what that was, but the Professor hadn't thought much of it. "A little bit of friendly competition never hurt anyone," he said. Yeah, right. Tell that to the giant turtle monster who just butchered that poor, defenseless pink thing-y.
The only real good thing that came out of this (as far as Flora could tell) was that they ran into some old aquaintances of the Professor and Luke. "He's a defense attorney and she's his spirit medium sidekick," Luke had told them, although Flora highly doubted that Emmy and Clive were paying much attention. The two in question were too busy fawning over the fights and the robotic parts of some competitors, respectively.
As it turns out, Mr. Wright had some experience with this kind of competition. According to him, the best attacks and defense were somehow connected to ones expertise. They all assumed that meant fencing when it came to Layton. That is until they saw him beat the giant turtle monster just by giving him a puzzle.
"Oof! So much pain..."
"That reminds me of another puzzle!"
"Sto-ARG!"
Makes them wonder how much damage he could do if he started lecturing about archaeology.
It's been awhile, huh? I really have no excuse.
Please leave a review. I honestly have no idea when I'll get to update again (when inspiration decides to come my way). Also because I want to write a bit for Wander Over Yonder. Not that I've given up on this fandom, 'cause believe me I haven't. It's just that I want to write a bit for that cute little show, since it was announced that it was going to get cancelled. I really love that show and am also working with the fandom to get a third season, so... If anyone here wants to help, then it's greatly appreciated.
There's a petition on change . org and it's easy to find. Just search "Wander" and it should be the first one with 11,000+.
You could also just google #savewoy and you'd get anything remotely connected to the campaign, including the petition and a tumblr page where there are a lot of good ideas on how to help out.
You could also write directly to Disney, if you are so inclined. Emails and mail addresses can all be found on the tumblr page.
VERY IMPORTANT! Anyone who has an interest in the show who either have the Disney XD app or are able to buy the episodes on itunes, REMEMBER a new episode airs TONIGHT on the 4th of April at 8.30 PM! We need to get the ratings up!
I would like to help getting the ratings up, but I can't. *sob* Disney XD is not available in my app store nor are any of the episodes on my itunes.
After tonight's episode the next will air on the 11th in the same time frame.
I don't want to bother you anymore with this right now if you don't have an interest.
If you've had the patience to read all this, then thank you! I really appreciate it!
See ya.
