Dear readers,

It has been a while… a very long while… 4 years and 4 months to be exact. I cannot even begin to express how sorry I am for making you all wait for so long. I am sure that most of you would have given up on waiting for an update by now and for this I do not blame you. All I can say is a life happened and this little story of mine was forgotten… But I have rediscovered it and it must be completed. So, for those who are still here, I give you Chapter 29….

Carlisle's POV

Esme and I raced towards the sea as fast as we possibly could without being noticed too much by passers-by. Once we arrived, I scanned the grey-blue surface of the water which was alive and aggressive with choppy waves thrashing here and there. It did not take me long to spot a little red buoy about a mile out bobbing in the ocean, and clinging to it the outline of a girl… Bella!

"There!" I yelled pointing my finger desperately at the buoy.

Esme and I wasted no time in running straight into the sea, fully clothed and frantically swimming towards our youngest family member who seemed to be weakening by the second. Just as we were about ten metres away, she slipped from the buoy and disappeared under the choppy surface. I dove under the icy water and made a beeline towards a flurry of uprising bubbles ahead of me. Eventually I grasped Bella's arm and pulled her towards the surface as fast as I could. Finally, we resurfaced and Esme and I put Bella's arms around our shoulders, she was very cold and pale.

We made it to the shore and lay Bella down on the golden, wet sand and listened to her chest. She was not breathing. My heart filled with dread and it felt like an anchor hit the pit of my stomach. I pushed aside the tidal wave of emotion and began compressions on her chest….

"1, 2, 3, 4…" I began counting.

Esme's POV

I could only stare as I watched my husband trying to revive our human daughter. My heart was in pieces and if I could have shed tears then I would have drowned in a river of them. I had a flashback from losing my own child when I was human. My breath caught in my throat. I fell to my knees helplessly as I watched the scene unfolding in front of me.

"5, 6, 7, 8…"

Alice's POV

My siblings and I were crouching behind a cluster of bushes in a large park opposite the chemist that Dr Jesson had gone into. We were discussing a plan and trying to keep Edward calm, which was becoming increasingly difficult.

"We could ambush him and drag him somewhere where we can rip him apart!" Emmett exclaimed passionately.

"What with all these people around?" Jasper intervened "That will never work".

"Plus he is a lot faster and stronger than us in his newborn state" I explained "It would be too risky".

"I don't care about the risk!" Edward shouted losing his temper. His eyes were burning black and he half stood in a rigid, defensive position.

Everyone felt Jasper release calming waves into the group and this seemed to simmer Edward down temporarily as he regained his composure and crouched back down with us.

"Okay, so what we know from Alice's visions are that he can freeze time by saying the words 'freeze time'. He can take people with him as long as he is making contact with them. And he is a psychotic lunatic intent on ruling the world." Rosalie listed, who until now had been silently contemplating.

Edward clenched his teeth at that last part.

"I've got it!" Rosalie exclaimed, her eyes bright with sudden realisation.

We all huddled closer as she began to explain her plan to us. It was risky, dangerous and very difficult to pull off but we had to try.

Suddenly my eyes blurred and a vision flashed across my mind. Bella was laying on the sand unmoving and Carlisle was performing CPR…

"NO!" We heard Edward cry with anguish. He tore away from our group and sprinted towards the seafront.

"Edward!" I called, but he was already out of sight.

We knew there was no way we could stop him and there was only a small window of time left before we needed to act on our plan. As we moved into position without Edward, we all glanced nervously at each other. This was it, our one chance to stop Dr Jesson once and for all…

Edward's POV

It felt like someone punched me in the gut. I saw Alice's vision through her thoughts… My Bella, my beautiful love. I had to get to her, I had to be there. Jesson left my mind, screw him. Screw the plan. She was more important, she was where I needed to be…

I dashed and arrived at the seafront in minutes. I scanned the shore for Bella and eventually saw a small crowd gathered around Carlisle and Esme who were kneeling beside her. I ran and pushed everyone out of the way.

"Bella!" I screamed dropping to my knees and grasping her hand.

"Edward!" Carlisle was shocked at first but then his voice grew firm, "Esme move him away".

Esme had snapped out of her trance by my sudden interruption. She grabbed my shoulders and pulled me back to allow Carlisle to continue.

"Come on son, Carlisle is doing everything he can" she whispered.

I did not fight her, I needed Carlisle to save her.

"Save her… please… please save her…" I dry sobbed to Carlisle as I watched the love of my life laying lifeless on the sand.

Carlisle, who was in full doctor mode continued his compressions.

"9, 10, 11, 12…"

I closed my eyes…
