'Lo,
So, Lucissa... I don't know if you would class this as angst, what do you think? Meh.
I don't own the Harry Potter world or the characters.
On with the story - Enjoy...
A flash of white light illuminated the master bedroom of Malfoy Manor and was closely followed by the tremendous bellow of thunder. Awakened by the noise Narcissa Malfoy sat up straight in bed while the other inhabitant of the room let out a scream and began to sob and howl. She looked around for her husband who, as it turned out, was absent from the room.
"It's okay, baby." Said Narcissa as she climbed out of bed and wrapped her silken robe around herself. "Hush, hush, everything is okay."
Narcissa walked across the plush carpet to where Draco's cot stood. She picked up the tiny from of her son and started to gently rock him in her arms as she paced the room. "There is no need to be afraid, my dragon," She soothed. "Hush, hush, daddy shall be home soon." Hopefully...
Narcissa stroked the soft downy head of Draco and continued to pace.
Truthfully, Narcissa did not know when her husband would return, if he even would return, but never had this fact – other than in the first years of their relationship – worried her quite as much as it did in this moment. But she would not let this distract her from the task at hand.
The rain hammered on the windows and another round of thunder and lightning joined, causing Draco to burst out into more sobs.
"Oh, no," Sighed Narcissa, "hush, hush. I'm not going to let anything harm you."
Once Draco's tears had subsided Narcissa felt slightly better. She walked back across the room, where she sat on the bed and leaned against the head board. With Draco still in her arms she began to quietly sing, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star. How I wander what you are…."
The sound of apparition caused Narcissa to turn to her left, where Lucius Malfoy now stood, clothes completely sodden as if he had just jumped into a swimming pool, a bleeding cut running from his eyebrow to the bottom of his ear. He cast a spell which dried his clothes and turned towards Narcissa.
Narcissa at once felt relieved and then angry because he had not warned her of his absence. "And where have you been?!" She demanded of her husband.
"I am so very sorry, Narcissa, my dear. You know for your safety I cannot tell you where I have been." Lucius replied.
"Yes… I know. But why in Merlin's name did you not wake me?" Narcissa threw back.
"Narcissa, you were so sound and with Draco here I did not wish for you to worry." Lucius started towards the bed and after taking off his coat he sat beside Narcissa and repeated, "I am sorry."
"Just…. Never do that again."
"Never."
