Um, sorry for the long break? My writing's drastically changed, so uh... sorry. Plot's still the same and I hope you enjoy anyway.
"SF-A2... could I ask you a question?"
Miki glanced at her master, fighting a frown. "Of course you can."
Rin sat in front of her vanity, eyes dull and clenching a fistful of her dress. An odd position for someone strong-minded like her, but she was biting her bottom lip—obvious sign of anxiety.
"...Am I... being unfair?"
Of course. What. An. Idiot!
"Well... I think you are, Rin-sama..." Miki nervously replied, fiddling with her thumbs. She tried not to offend her master too much. Her sole purpose of her existence was to serve Rin, but no longer felt like doing so—ah... would it be... would it be fine if she did that, then?
"Hmm? I'm being unfair to Len, aren't I?" ...She's a real idiot, isn't she? "I guess I'm not siding with him enough—"
"No, no. You're being to unfair." Miki pointed to herself. "To us." She sighed. "Rin-sama... I know that Len is your friend, but we can be yours, too—"
"No!" Rin suddenly shrieked, bolting up from her vanity seat. She looked pissed right then, and Miki cowered. The petite blonde girl was infuriated, but Miki still didn't understand the reason as to why. Tears threatened to fall from Rin's eyes. "I... I can't."
Miki's glare intensified immediately, and she clenched her own fists. "Why—"
Quick to respond, the princess flung her brush onto the floor, hoping to relieve her stress. It didn't work. "Papa... will definitely... uninstall the both of you!" she yelled, folding her arms and leaning forward, feet spread out. "And I can't let him uninstall the both of you! You've been with me since—"
"Any sort of emotional attachment to us makes you consider us friends," the android bit back, "so that's something you can't—"
"Shut up, okay? You don't understand!" Rin furiously tugged at her hair. "Papa says making friends with androids gets me laughed at! I don't want to be laughed at, and now he's..! He'll kill you if we're friends, don't you get it?"
"You're friends with Len!"
"He was born to be friends with me!" Rin yelled. "The villagers know you're robots, but they don't know he is! They won't find out, they won't think I'm weird—"
"You know how your father is, he'll uninstall Len too—"
"Shut up!" Rin yelled, once again, and pointed to the door. "Okay? Shut... up."
"R-Ri—"
"And you know what it means, right?" Rin flashed a smile. "Get out."
Miki slowly paced backwards, eyes narrowed, but she exited all the same. Her furious stomps were heard—her anger could be felt by even the densest person, and Rin collapsed onto the floor, heaving a sigh. She rubbed her eyes tiredly.
No, not like this—
"Rinny, we're going out to the park, right?" a familiar, cheerful voice called. Rin really loved the cheerfulness in that voice—it normally would've brightened up her day, but at that moment, nothing seemed to make her happier. She just lay on the floor, crumpled as a wilted flower. She couldn't deny the fact that tears were threatening to fall, either.
She swallowed hard, and looked at the slightly ajar door. What answer to give Len..? She wanted to make him happy, but she wasn't in the mood...
Once again, "Rinny?"
Before she knew it, he was kneeling by her side and clinging onto her arm, questioning what she was doing. Rin didn't like crying, but whenever she did, people always comforted her—not like Len, who sounded curious to know what the hell she was even doing. How could he not know?
...I'm an idiot...
"I'm just—" Rin blinked back tears and mustered a weak smile. "I'm okay, Len."
No, I'm not—I wouldn't have... thought about his effect, anyway.
"Are you? Then can we go?"
He's already here, so... I'll just be happy that he's living.
"Maybe another time, Len."
Len tilted his head curiously. "Why not now? You're perfectly fine—I think—so... huh? Rinny, you're alright, right?"
"You asked 'why not now'?" Rin repeated, staring at him almost lifelessly. It scared him and he shook her arm, as if trying to wake her up, but her appearance didn't fade. "You know why not now?"
"Rinny—"
"Because I was crying, Len, did you even know that?"
