A Not so Different Beginning

Chapter 27

A/N Hey peoples, I happy that most of you(who reviewed) enjoyed this chapter, I wouldn't have been hurt to see a review who said they didn't like but as I said last chapter I felt I needed to do that. Now that it's over I can get back to the plot, but one thing someone brought up in a review that Cynders' perception of Spyro may change now, and I have to give credit where it's due, I didn't think about that until I read it so thank htfan, and thanks for being a long time follower, it's good know that I can keep my readers(almost said followers but that sounds weird to me for some reason) even with my really long update times. As for every other reviewer I appreciate your reviews so much it makes my day to see say that my work is good, I sure as hell don't get it often my real life. So thanks for all the praise but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong I'm not perfect I know this and freely admit this and I keep forgetting to use a scene that in the scheme of things isn't needed but felt like something funny/creepy to see, maybe with Cynders latest life development it could be also a real slap in the face or something else. Well I'll see if I can fit it in somewhere this chapter or next.

It had been several hours since the attack on Cynders house and Cynder had to heart wrenchingly retell the entire event to the Guardians. There was an investigation to find clues and all that find was clues indicating the ones who killed Silas and Anaya had also attacked the house. The Guardians didn't need to ask Cynder if the dead dragon was her father since Volteer knew him by face, not that there was much face at that point but keeping Cynder away from her father felt like a large relief on her.

Cynder only spoke when she needed to since she met Kirk and Nick and ever since she told her story to the Guardians she hadn't made a sound beside annoyed grunts or growls to tell people to back off. The only people who were allowed to be near her were Kirk, Nick and Sparx who she still considered to be her only true friends. She was hardly even conscious to the entire world and even when her friends tried to get her to talk she simply turned them out, she was in her own dark world where she felt no hope.

She had only a few things on her mind, number one being how could this have happened, this instantly make her think of the hounds but then remembered who controlled them…

"….Spyro…." she growled suddenly making all three boys jump at her finally talking.

Sparx floated down to her face and said "Umm, Cynder? Why'd you say Spyro's name"

She growled when he said his brother's name baring her teeth "He did this"

Kirk and Nick looked to each other Sparx replied back defensively "No, he didn't it was the dogs"

"And who controls those beasts, hmmm? Spyro, he controls them and tells them what to do, if he really cared for me then he would have fought his dark side from doing that" she had finally came to a conclusion as she spoke aloud, everything she believed in, fighting the Guardians and trying to find a non lethal way of saving Spyro was all to waste, because he didn't care about her, he hurt in a way that could never be reversed and this only told her that he didn't care enough, if at all, about to keep himself doing that.

Sparx said "No it was his dark side, he'd never do that, he liked you a lot!"

"SHUT UP! He never cared for me and probably lied to me, the only reason you are alive is because he wanted his stuff not you. I know who he truly is now, an evil dragon who only made all those friends and defeated Malefor so he could do it himself this entire time" Cynder obviously had lost all reason in her grief and rage. She had spent hours thinking this over and impulsively came to a final conclusion, Spyro was always evil. Her lack of proper thinking had made her totally forget just how powerful the darkness could be and how easily it could turn even the nicest dragons into evil psychopaths.

Kirk said trying to reason with her "NO! He is corrupted, he's not in control, he's basically got a another person in his body controlling him, it's not his fault"

Cynder growled "Shut up! I'm done trying to help him, I see now what the Guardians see, he needs to die, he's bad to the bone and will never be who we want him to be" She turned walking away, she didn't care if they tried to save him like before but she officially was done helping him and now had only one goal, to avenge her father and save the world from his scourge.

Kirk said "Guys… she's serious, she doesn't believe in him anymore. We're all alone"

Nick and Sparx both understood this but Sparx asked "Maybe… maybe if we give her some time she'll reconsider?"

Nick frowned "I have doubts that she'll ever be able to trust Spyro, whether we save him or not, she'll never see him the same way again. We'll have to accept that"

Sparx said "But that's not my brother, he was too good, he would never do anything to hurt his friends or loved ones, he just can't!"

Kirk said "As you said he's corrupted, anything is possible now"

They all looked down in near defeat, the task seemed impossible to the three, none knew anything that could save Spyro still and doubted there could ever be anything that could save him.

Sparx sighed and flew off to be alone; he usually kept cool in a situation using humor and sarcasm to ward off his fear or any type of anxiety but right now he felt so defeated and even he was starting to doubt his own brothers good will.

Despite how quiet Nick was he said "We can only hope that she'll simmer down and try to think a bit more clearly"

Far away…

Spyro growled in rage "You stupid dogs couldn't even catch an untrained girl!"

The four dogs looked down feeling like punished children, this was the second time they had failed to do their job, the first wasn't their fault but the Reaper had felt a soul leave it's body, it never happened. Once a victim was killed the reaper devoured its soul and used it to power itself but for some reason a soul it had recently eaten had been taken back. So far none of them or their master knew why but hoped they would soon.

The latest failure was much more important, they failed to kill a possible weakness in their master and he was furious.

"You stupid dogs, why did I ever summon you!? Why didn't I call upon something better?" he growled loudly making dogs shrink back fearfully.

The Reaper started to speak in it's usual multi-voices "But master, we couldn't get to her in time. Her father distracted us and she escaped"

"Shut up mutt! Don't speak, I must think!" Spyro yelled at them.

They once again all shrunk back the mutilator shivering so bad some of its flesh peeled off.

Spyro paced back and forth eyes closed speaking to himself softly so that they couldn't hear him until "Find her you mongrels, fail me again and I will take all your power"

"Yes, master" the dog said fearfully and they left into the shadows.

Spyro growled again "I need to kill her soon, or I may never be able to"

He then looked into his mind to see what his nice counterpart was up to.

Deep in his mind…

Spyro was a bit away from his house, he was standing under a tree that was tall and large. He was in the shade and looking out across the empty plains all around his house. He got the feeling that all that land was endless, like if he flew he'd never find the end. He was told several times by his family members that just past the horizon was forest and further past that was a town but they said they'd never been there in a long time.

He contemplated going to find that town but the one time he brought up all of them going there his parents said that they didn't need to go and that they had all they needed here. He wasn't quite sure about that, they always had food but they rarely hunted, he had no idea how they got that much food unless his parents hunted during the night secretly.

Other things felt a little odd too, like how they always have time to do something him unless it was to go anywhere too far from the house. He wasn't disturbed by them being having time it how they suddenly changed just for him, they'd seem tired or in a mood that was like they just wanted to sit down and chill but would instantly change to active just for him.

He found it all odd, sometimes when he woke up in the morning everything felt like it was fading it, like it weren't real. And whenever he brought up Cynder and how he missed her his family would try to tell him he didn't need her and that he'd be fine right here with them. It only made him want to leave more.

He missed his step brother, Sparx, he missed the Guardians, he missed his foster parents, he had planned to go see them a bit after he came back to Warfang and reassure him that he was ok and hadn't left them behind but now he felt almost… trapped.

He heard his mother shout that it was time for supper and he ran back to eat, still in his heart he felt like he was doing something wrong by going back but the thought of food made him go back anyway.

Dark Spyro watched him invisibly as he ran away and growled knowing all his thought and said "I must find a way to make him stay, or he may start to annoy me"

His mind faded away from the scene back to the real world and hummed thinking of solutions but decided laying down and sleeping while his dogs did their work would help him think, and besides, evil tyrants needed time to sleep once in awhile.

Hmmm sorry for the short chapter and lack of anything, at least in my opinion. I have to say the long wait was actually because I started writing something new, it's not a Spryo fic(and if anyone of my Spyro followers read these but my Gears fics either) no I decided to write about Sly Copper, it's not up yet because it's 10k words of stuff I'm not even fully sure should be sent up. I'm actually scared to put it out because in all honesty I never played it and like it explains my brother was watching a game review of it on youtube one day of the first game and I got hooked, course the only way I can really find to play it is asking my cousin's brothers friend if I can borrow is three(the first three) as for the fourth even if I got my hands on a copy it would be useless because I don't own a PS3, I have 1 and 2 but after that changed to xbox(won't try to sway anyone because I know both sides) but that's why this took so long, 10k words of stuff I may not even release.

Anyway thanks for reading and your continued support everyone and hopefully the next chapter will be on the way.
