His Kitten: Off to the Phantomhive Manor

6\28\14:

So I'm editing again but just remember that Black Butler, Sebastian and the other characters do not belong to me. I am trying to make sure this makes sense and the side stories will eventually be posted in their own little story maybe on some other site.

New Note: I am editing the story a bit so it may be confusing for first time readers. If you like the story and want to keep reading then please be patient with me. I am sorry but not only will I be fixing mistakes, I will change when and how Melody and Sebastian actually mate. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Unnamed Kitty POV:

A freak, that's what I was. Or at least what I was led to believe. It wasn't as if I really knew what the word meant. All I knew was that I was different from the beings that lived in this world.

I had pointed ears on the top of my head that matched the color of my long, filthy hair. A tail extended from my backside that matched my ears and hair as well. The fur on it was fluffy but weighed down with the grime of the alleys of London so you couldn't tell that it was fluffy. On a cat it would appear much longer than it did on me. Which I only know because I had seen a few cats with tails that looked similar to mine.

My hair was as black as the sky when no light shined and reached the ground that I walked on, in fact dragging it. It could entirely cover my small body if I didn't have the dingy, oversized dress that I was wearing. I do not know how long it has been since I swiped the dress from a random string thing in another alley.

As I grew up I was kept in a strange place where the only light I ever saw came from a small window. The beings that took care of me seemed afraid of me and would keep their distance from me if they could. They rarely said anything to me and if they did it was calling me names that I didn't understand. Eventually when I would try to mimic them they would either beat me or withhold my food. I eventually had become so afraid of them that I refused to try and mimic them.

I am not sure at all how old I am since I do not have a sense of time. For all I know I could have been kept in that place for twenty years, though that didn't seem right. I had been thrown out on the streets to fend for myself as a small thing and I had to teach myself how to survive.

Since I had noticed that these beings did not seem to accept how I appeared from those that cared for me I learned to hide my ears flat against my hair which was easy enough since they matched in color and my unkempt hair looked fluffy which allowed me to hide them under it. It still seemed that attention was paid to me whenever I went out to find food though.

Since I was part cat I could easily hunt the birds and rats that were around here but sometimes I got bored of that and other times I was thirsty so I would go out with my ears hidden flat against my head and look for something that I could snatch from a stand or someone's hands. Though that brought attention to me so I only did that when I was really hungry.

At this moment I was searching through a garbage can, hoping to find my next meal. I always did this before resorting to stealing. After finding no trace of edible food I sat on the ground with a huff. I was thirsty and wasn't finding anything to drink so I gave up after a bit and started watching people from my place hidden in the alley.

I watched many people dressed in bright and clean clothes walk by my alley but only two caught my attention. One was a young male dressed mainly in blue and the other was a tall male dressed in black. It wasn't the people who had caught my attention, though, it was what was in the taller man's hand it looked like a bottle of that yummy stuff I like to drink.

My tummy growled and so without thinking very much, I didn't tend to when I was hungry enough, I began to follow the two looking for an opening to swipe a single bottle. It shouldn't be too hard since they didn't seem to be paying much attention.

They stopped and I saw a possible opening, I reached forward only to have the tall man turn to face me. I flinched as he watched me with his crimson eyes.

"My Lord, it appears as if we have acquired a shadow."

The young male turned and scrutinized my with one ocean blue eye that widened as it landed on my ears which had perked up in surprise at being caught. That was weird, I was normally very good at keeping my ears under control.

"What is she?"

The tall male stepped forward causing me to step back. "It seems as if we have run into a human born." He explained.

"Human born, what's that?"

"A very rare type of demon born to humans when one species becomes rare to find. They are a way to help increase the demon population."

The young male hummed in thought. "Bring her to the manor then, let's see if I can have another demon serving me."

The tall male smiled sweetly at me for a minute, "would you like to come with us?"

I blinked a little bit, this human was asking me to come with him? My head tilted to the side slightly as I just looked at him. Could I trust this male or would he just do what the other humans did to me? Though there is something different about him that I can't place my finger on but he looks human.

I stood still for a minute, still staring at the tall male in black as I tried to figure out whether or not I should go with the two or not. At the very least they would give me a bit of food right? And if they were mean then I could just run from them.

It was another moment or so before I stepped closer to the two males, putting my ears down again as I did.

The tall male chuckled a little bit and held a hand out toward me but I didn't take it. I still wasn't sure what to think of him and didn't trust him quite yet.

He blinked a little but smiled, "would you follow us then?"

I huffed a little bit but when the two started walking I followed. Even if the taller male stayed close to me and kept watching me.

"A human born cat demoness, my how interesting." He moved one of his gloved hands to scratch my ears, despite my distrust I purred and cuddled into his hand.

"Do you have a name?" The young male asked.

I tilted my head to the side, "Mew?"

He stopped walking and looked at me. "Can you talk?" He asked.

I shook my head sadly. I could understand him but I wasn't allowed to speak. I would be hurt if I tried to.

The boy began to walk again while muttering, "Well you need a name..."

I mewed again in slight confusion as we reached a wheeled thing. I had seen them go by my alley before but never learned what they were called. The tall male opened the door and helped the young male in. He turned to do the same for me but I simply crawled inside on my own with both of the males watching me.

I poked the fluffy thing that I seemed to be sitting on but that didn't interest me much and instead of investigating them I eyed the milk still in the taller male's hand and reached toward it. I carefully watched the reactions of the males as I did so.

Sebastian POV:

I looked toward the Young Master, he sighed.

"Just give her some milk." He ordered while waving his hand.

I opened a bottle of milk and handed it to the young black haired girl. She snatched it out of my hand and sniffed the mouth of the bottle while her eyes still watched me. After a moment she began to chug the drink and I had to admit that she was adorable. Just like a kitten.

I shut the door and jumped up to drive.

Kitty POV:

In less than a minute I had chugged more than half of the bottle of yummy, a small stream of the liquid ran from the corner of my lip to my chin since I wasn't very interested in keeping clean and instead in drinking. I sighed happily and began to purr.

Perhaps these males weren't all that bad and I could trust them. They did give me my yummy drink and just looked at me with what I supposed was a kind look.

"Alice... No... Anna... No..." The young male was speaking to himself.

Was he trying to think of a name for me? I had never had a name before, I don't think that I had one because the people who fed me never called me by any name but "beast" or "bitch." Occasionally they would call me "girl," "monster," or "demon" as well.

"Maybe I should ask you... Do you like Jessica?"

I shook my head. That name was strange to me, there was something about it that I just didn't like.

"Annalee?"

The same response.

"You are hard to name..."

I quit paying attention and watched things move outside of the window and began to hum a song that I often heard young children sing while they played. They had never seen me but I had watched them several times. I had no idea what it was called or even really the words of it, I only ever got the tune. It wasn't that I would sing even if I knew the words anyway.

"Melody?" He asked.

Now that name caught my attention. Something about that name stuck with me. It seemed as if I'd heard it before but I have no idea where from.

"Well then, your name is now Melody." He said while nodding his head to himself I suppose.

I purred more and curled up into a ball on the comfy thing before I fell asleep.

Arms lifted me up, I didn't like being disturbed while I was sleeping so I meowed confused and looked up to meet the crimson eyes of the tall male from earlier.

I sniffed him a little bit since it seemed like I would be around for a while. I mean I would stick around as long as they were kind and fed me.

The older male didn't seem to realize that I was awake yet and seemed like he didn't want to wake me.

"Welcome home Young-" The three cheery voices stopped abruptly.

"Wh-who is that?" A male asked. His voice was higher pitched than I had heard in most males.

"Her name is Melody, she will be staying here from now on." The young male's voice answered, I meowed and cuddled closer to the man.

"S-she's a cat..." A female voice mumbled.

"Do not bother her too much as I don't want your incompetence rubbing off on her." The elder male's voice caused his chest to vibrate.

"Wait until she's rested and then clean her up." The younger spoke again.

"Yes, My Lord."

The male began to walk, and it was a bit before the sound of a door opening and the happy mewing of cats reached my ears.

Cats? There were other cats here? Maybe if they had these cats then they really wouldn't mind me.

I looked over my shoulder to see a few cats curled up on a bed, obviously having been disturbed when the man opened the door.

"I think you'll like it here."

I was placed on the bed and immediately the cats began to crawl on me, "Mew?" The male chuckled and pet my head.

"Welcome to your new home, Melody."

It didn't take long for a ticking sound to catch my attention and I listened for where it was coming from. I always liked sounds like that, though I never knew why.

Now where was that noise coming from? The man's pocket! I sat up, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a shiny, silver round shaped thing.

"Mew?" I rocked my head side to side with the rhythm of the ticking.

"Do you like my pocket watch?" He asked with a small smile.

I meowed quietly. This male was actually asking me questions and expecting me to respond. It seemed so strange for someone to speak to me like this. He seems to be encouraging me to speak but can I trust that I won't be punished for speaking?

He chuckled and pet my head. "Perhaps we shall get you one at a later time." He gently pulled the watch from my hands and placed it back in his pocket. "Such an interesting kitten you are."

The cats were still all over me, purring and cuddling me. I loved it! Cats were the only company that I had ever had in the alley and so it made me happy to still be around them. It even made the transition into this strange place much easier for me.

"Well, it seems as if you are wide awake now... So come now Melody, lets clean you up." The male said while gesturing me to follow again.

I did so without hesitation as he led me to a strange room that I had never seen before. I didn't hesitate because in my moments speaking with the cats I had found that this male was very kind towards cats and they assured me that he would be kind to me.

The room he led me to was mostly white with what looked like a big white bowl in the center. There were fluffy things that looked almost like the blanket that I had taken from that place I had grown up in only they looked much warmer and softer. The smooth floor was cool under my bare feet and I wiggled my toes. It felt so much different than the ground in the alley or the floor in that room I was in as I grew up.

The male filled the bowl looking thing with steaming water before turning to me and helping me out of my dress. The skin had been covered by the cloth was almost completely clean and a smooth milky white other than a few scratches and bruises that came from living on the streets.

He gently lifted me up placed me in the warm water. Dirt lifted from my skin and floated in the water around me. I was not used to such warmth since to clean me I had only ever been splashed with ice cold water from a bucket. It made me happy so I splashed slightly and giggled when the water hit my face. Most cats would have hated this idea but it was nice and warm so I didn't mind.

"My name is Sebastian."

I jumped slightly when the male spoke. I had been so excited about the warm water that I had forgotten that he was there.

"Mya?"

I hadn't realized that I didn't know his name until now. I don't know the young male's either but I guess that I will find that out soon enough.

Sebastian, as he said his name was, began to clean my skin and hair as gently as he had done everything else including lifting me into the tub and taking my dress off. It was weird that someone was treating me so kindly, I could hardly believe it. It still felt nice to be cared for like this though.

Something bothered me about not wearing anything around him but he didn't act like anything was wrong so I didn't think that there was. I thought that it was normal. That humans did this quite often despite their being opposite genders. Even if I didn't quite get the concept of gender differences.

Once Sebastian thought that I was clean enough, he lifted me from the water and dried me off with one of the fluffy things. It was soft and felt nice on my skin so I giggled and rubbed it on my cheek. It felt so much better than that old blanket I had in that place.

"Stay right here, I will be right back." Sebastian told me before he left the room leaving me to watch the door and wait for him to return.

When he came back he had a set of clothes over his arm. "A cat demon hates to hide their tail." He mused and began to put the clothing on me.

The short dress that he put on me was open in the back showing blue short pants that allowed my tail to be free. The long-sleeves hung off of my shoulders and nearly past my fingertips. The white cloth on the front clasped around my neck and then was covered with a black ribbon tied into a bow. Around the waist was another ribbon, this one a navy blue that was tied into a large bow at the back. The black cloth on my legs came up to just below where the dress ended and the things on my feet were a little uncomfortable. I didn't like having the black cloth and the things covering my feet. I wasn't used to it and I didn't like that I couldn't feel the ground under my feet anymore but at least my toes were warm.

I twirled in front of this reflective thing that looked almost like a window but only showed what was in the room around me, including Sebastian and me. I was trying to take in my new appearance. There were some faint bruises on the skin that was visible and I had to say that even though my hair was clean now, it still looked scruffy and out of place with my new clothing.

I mewed slightly in thought, not sure how to feel about how I looked in this. I was obviously cleaner just by appearance. My skin wasn't covered by the grime of the alley anymore and my hair was actually black instead of mucked up with the many colors of the grime.

Sebastian chuckled and coaxed me over to a thing that I had seen a few times by looking through windows of shops. I had no idea what it was called but I know that people would sit in them.

He gestured for me to sit by patting the flat part of the object. I watched him for a minute before I sat obediently. It was odd sitting on this thing and I had to jump up slightly since my feet didn't touch the ground while I was sitting.

Sebastian began to run something strange through my hair. I had never seen anything like this before and it hurt when it got stuck so I started fighting a little bit. He assured me that it was alright though that didn't matter to me. It hurt when the object would get stuck and no longer move through my hair so he just kept tugging. I kept fighting him with this until he eventually sighed.

"It's not so bad now, is it?"

The thing was now going through my hair without pain and without getting stuck. I watched as Sebastian put it down and went to pick something else up. What he picked up was shiny so I thought that it was perhaps what he had called his "pocket watch" again but he wouldn't let me get it. He instead knelt down and picked up some of my hair before bringing the shiny thing to it.

The thing went through my hair with a strange snipping sound and the hair beneath it fell to the floor. I blinked a bit. So he's making my hair shorter? Not that I mind, I would trip on it all the time otherwise.

Soon my hair only reached my waist. I had bangs across my forehead and longer fringe framing my face. Sebastian stood in front of me for a better look.

"That's better, follow me please." He said holding one of his hands out to me.

I hesitated again but actually grabbed the hand that he had offered me this time. My black fingernails stood out against the white fabric that was covering his hand which made me tilt my head a little bit. I don't understand why anyone would wear something over their hand like that since you couldn't feel anything very well.

Sebastian helped me stand and began to lead me down many hallways. He stopped at a large wooden door and knocked.

"Come in." The voice belonged to the young male.

Sebastian opened the door and led me inside.

"Young Master."

He bowed with one hand over his heart as he spoke. The young male's eye looked to me.

"You did a good job with her. Melody," My wandering eyes locked with his when he spoke. "You are going to follow Sebastian around until you are familiar with the duties." He told me with a stern voice.

My head tilted to the side and I mewed slightly before reaching into Sebastian's pocket and pulling out his watch 'This Sebastian's,' I thought, 'He said name.'

I held the watch out to the young male, "Meow?" A sweat drop appeared on his head when I mewed.

"It appears that she didn't quite understand you, Young Master." Sebastian chimed in, this 'Young Master' waved his hand.

"Just take care of her."

Sebastian bowed after receiving the order. I looked closely at his action and then mimicked it. He arched an eyebrow at me then pet my head and led me out of the room.

I followed him closely and watched every move he made as he led me around the large building. I was a bit more relaxed with him but I still wasn't sure.

BOOM! I jumped and clung to Sebastian in fear. That sound scared me and I didn't like it at all. It hurt my ears and was much too sudden.

"I suppose you should meet the others now." He muttered and gently separated himself from me and led me to a new area.

I stopped and covered my nose at the smell of smoke and something strange that I had never really smelled before. I had smelled smoke but this smoke had a tinge of something else to it that hurt my nose a little.

"You have a sensitive nose, don't you?" Sebastian asked.

I mewed while he took a white cloth out of his pocket, moved my hands, and covered my nose with the cloth. I fought for a minute, trying to push the cloth away making him sigh.

"I'm not trying to hurt you. I am trying to help protect your sensitive nose." He gently pushed me into the room that the smell came from.

If he was trying to protect my nose then why did he go in the direction that the smell came from?

Black stuff covered everything and nearly hid a male that had poufy hair. The way his hair looked almost reminded me of the fluffy things in the room where I got to be in warm water.

"Hey Sebastian..." He chuckled nervously and his blue eyes landed on me. "Wow, is 'at the same girl from earlier?" He asked as he leaned close to my face. My tail swished slightly in annoyance and my ears pulled back slightly as a warning.

"She is indeed." Sebastian's cloth thing still covered my nose. The man stuck his hand out causing me to let out a low hiss that was muffled.

"Anyway... I'm Bard the chef, I cook around here!" He stated proudly.

'Cook... His "cook" no smell good...'

When I said nothing Bard blinked.

"Hey, you gonna' say anything?" He asked giving me a strange look.

"Bard, Melody is unable to speak in human tongue." There was obvious annoyance in Sebastian's voice now.

But he was kind of lying. I could probably speak like humans but if I did then I would get hurt.

The chef's face blanked. "Now that introductions are over, get to cleaning up this mess." Sebastian ordered, his tone scared me a bit but Bard immediately began to clean the black stuff away.

"Mew?" Once again, the white cloth muffled my voice.

"Ah yes, I must get back to work. Come along Melody." Sebastian smiled down at me. I didn't have much of a choice but to follow him since his white cloth was over my face.

Once we were away from what I guessed the room that the boom had come from, Sebastian pulled the cloth away.

"Hopefully you are more useful than these incompetent humans." He muttered and turned to look at me and his eyes softened from a glare, "But thanks to you, I am not as irate as I was before."

Sebastian sighed and his white clothed hand pet my head as he pulled out his pocket watch. I watched the silver object closely not noticing that my ears twitched with each tick that the watch made.

The silver trinket was dangled before my eyes. I swatted at it then grabbed it with a purr. "So adorable..." Sebastian mumbled before allowing me to keep a hold on his watch while he continued to lead me around. "For a cat demoness, you are very cooperative." He mused.

I didn't pay much attention to what he said but I meowed anyway. Though if I did I probably would have given him a strange look. I was only being cooperative because there seemed to be a promise of food and kindness and I didn't want to ruin it.

Sebastian chuckled but stopped abruptly causing me to run into his back.

"Mew?" He was looking at the stair railing, the wood was polished black. A red-headed female was rubbing the black substance on it. Sebastian sighed and walked up to her.

"Meirin."

The female jumped and blushed. "M-Mr. Sebastian, is there something you need?"

"What are you doing?"

The female blinked, "I was polishing the rails, yes I was!" She said proudly, I tilted my head and mewed in confusion.

'Rest rail no same color?'

"Oh goodness, she cleans up quite well, yes she does!" The female gushed with a very small tint of red on her cheeks, I slipped behind Sebastian.

"Indeed she does. Meirin meet Melody, the newest member of the Phantomhive manor." He explained while gesturing to me. The female, now known as Meirin, nodded at me. "Oh and you should clean the shoe polish off of the rails before it stains."

"Eh?!" Meirin began to freak out and Sebastian once more led me away.

"Two out of three idiots..." He sighed.

I sensed that he was a bit stressed and tilted my head to the side, 'Sebastian no happy?' I tugged on his sleeve. If he was going to be kind to me then I should attempt to be kind to him.

"Something wrong, Melody?" I rubbed my head against his arm and purred. He sighed happily and scratched my ears.

"Such a clever kitten you are."

I was not sure why but I found myself becoming fond of this man.

A twig snapped outside and my ear turned in that direction, my head tilted to the side. "I heard it too, Kitten..." He paused for a moment and then sighed again. "Are ready to meet another moron?" He asked.

"Meow?"

"Never mind, come along."

I allowed Sebastian to lead me again, this time he led me to a garden. The smell of flowers filled my nose, so many different kinds that gave off so many different scents. It was so amazing and I loved it.

"Mr. Sebastiaaaan!" The higher pitched male voice from earlier wailed, too loud for me to like.

"What is it now, Finnie?" Sebastian asked, obviously annoyed. The other male was sobbing and bawling, splintered wood was embedded in his hair.

"I accidentally broke a tree!"

I flinched at the volume of his voice and slid behind Sebastian, hoping that this "Finnie" male wouldn't notice me.

"Relax, it will be taken care of." The taller, obviously more dominant of the two males, pinched the bridge of his nose as he spoke.

'No challenge Sebastian.'

He was obviously older and stronger than me so no doubt I would be the one to lose in any situation with him.

The submissive male looked up with a surprised and grateful sparkle in his teal eyes, was Sebastian normally so lenient? As he looked up his eyes reflected me in them.

"Wow! She's pretty Sebastian!"

The volume of his voice rose again as he spoke causing my ears to go back.

"Finnian, please lower your voice. Melody's ears are very sensitive and loud noises may startle her."

Sebastian explained to the younger male who blinked and blushed.

"S-sorry, I'm Finnian but you can call me Finnie, nice to meet you."

I blinked and gave no other response. "Not a talker are you?" Again I gave no response.

"Move the dead trees, twigs and logs to the fire pit please. Only the dead ones." He said with a very stern voice. The yellow-haired male nodded and ran off, Sebastian turned to me. "Three down, one to go." He said as he held up his fingers for each number. I meowed in response and he handed his pocket watch to me once again.

"Such a good kitten."

Sebastian POV:

I watched as Melody moved my watch so that the silver surface reflected the light of the sun. This little demoness was indeed just a kitten, still too young to be able to comprehend many things.

With her around things would seem much more interesting to me, at least until she became old enough to realize what was really going on and starts to become stubborn. Even when that happened it would still be easy for she was rather naïve and should be easy to handle.

"Ho ho ho!"

Melody jumped in surprise at hearing the senior steward, Mr. Tanaka.

"Ah perfect timing. Mr. Tanaka this is Melody, Melody Mr. Tanaka."

I introduced the two to each other. The cat demoness blinked then went back to my watch.

Melody POV:

'House full of strange...'

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Alright, first chapter edit is done! The story line is pretty much going to be the same but like I said, they will be mating later than I actually have them… I'm sorry if this confuses everyone and don't blame any of the reviewers. I was planning on changing the story a little bit anyway but I was just given a little push. I have actually even put a bit more of Melody's back story here than what was here originally. This includes the reason why she doesn't know how to speak, or rather refuses to thinking that she will get hurt.

New Note: So yeah I finally finished this one and it may be a bit confusing or really incomprehensible still but I am not the best at explaining what I think to others…. Sorry.

Thank you again for reading!
