Tahnorra Week, Day 1

Today has been a long writing day. I've uploaded four fics, plus worked put in on my multichapter Korrlok. That ultimately works out to five different ships, four of which involve Korra. Multishipping is hard gaiz. This is the AU where Korra ends up joining the Wolfbats instead of the Fire Ferrets.

The tension hummed through the air at every practice. The Wolfbats needed to be preparing for the upcoming tournament, but the team captain and Avatar didn't seem to be concerned. Ming made excuses when he could to practice his earthbending elsewhere, because the gym was filled with nothing but fights and arguments. Most days he showed up on schedule to work, saw it was useless to even try, and slipped away to find an empty gym room where he might get something useful done.

Tahno and Korra tended not to even notice when he went missing. They circled each other like two cats with their fur on end. Tahno made his snide comments and Korra responded with blunt threats. They were capable of working together in a match. They worked very well together, then, but when there was no common opponent to unite against, they fought each other.

Weeks stretched on that way, and the constant clashes between them began to twist into some strange indescribable bond. Korra moped around Air Temple Island without being able to explain to Tenzin what was wrong, and Tahno's fangirls whispered to each other that he seemed oddly distant lately. Even though they did nothing but argue at practice, they both began to show up earlier and earlier.

When they decided to pass the time by sparring, they both launched into the fight with a ready will. Neither of them wanted to hold back, and Tahno was careful to close the distance to limit the advantage that three types of bending would give her. It really wasn't very surprising when they ended tangled in a heap on the floor, both sweaty and breathing heavily from the exercise.

They never could agree later on which of them kissed the other first. But that gap was bridged and in seconds they knew nothing but hands and lips and bare skin. Her nails raked down his back and he bit her shoulder as they pressed together on the floor. When it was done they lay there, hands gentle where they had been vicious moments before, but the words they exchanged were still as sharp as ever. It was easy to doze there in the warmth of each other's bodies, and they both felt the strange peace of the moment as they drifted off. When Ming showed up for practice that day, he turned around and left the room for a whole new reason.
