Disclaimer: Unfortunately, i am not JKR in diguise.. D: oh, no need to rub it in, im already depressed about it.

A Weasley and a Malfoy. It was a relationship that most people would laugh at or scorn if they heard about it.

But the truth was, Ginny Weasley was in love with Draco Malfoy. Maybe it was because, after her experience with Tom Riddle's diary, she could kind of see more of people. Tom Riddle had somehow made her more insightful and aware of her surroundings. Ginny could see that Malfoy wasn't really the puffed-up git he pretended to be — he was actually really scared, and hurt, and he maybe even had a spark of decency in him. Ginny once found him helping a first year find his way around the castle. She had been touched by the small act of kindness, an act that first started her feelings for him.

Draco, for his part, didn't think much of the Weasley girl into she was older. Of course, he heard of the time when she was taken down into the Chamber of Secrets, and although he acted like it was a good thing, he couldn't help feeling guilty, guilty that he had supported the Heir of Slytherin the whole time. No one, not even blood traitors and Mudbloods, deserved to die such a horrible death.

When Harry Potter saved Ginny, Draco felt a twinge of jealousy. The great Harry Potter just had to save her. The next year, Draco found himself staring at Ginny whenever he saw her — she was still shy around older students and especially Harry, but around her own friends, Draco saw her as the life and soul of their little group. She could make everyone laugh, which she did often, she would help them with their homework without a single protest, and . . . there was so many other things that Draco couldn't even list them all. He admired the way she acted — it was fearless, almost.

As the years passed, Draco began to realize that he was falling for Ginny Weasley, and falling hard at that. Unknowingly, she's rubbed off on him. Draco now found himself in the common room, helping the first year Slytherins, the ones who weren't quite old enough to know how much "I'm going to do this alone" acts there were in their House.

The start of Draco and Ginny's relationship was an accident. Draco had agreed to escort a student to his classes because he was scared of being assaulted by Peeves, and Ginny was leading a student in a similar situation.

The small Hufflepuff student that Ginny was holding hands with squealed when she saw Draco and said, "I know you! You scared away some bullies once!"

She beamed at him, Draco flushed, and Ginny eyed him appraisingly. "You did?" she said.

"Erm. Yeah."

"That was nice of you."

Draco didn't have a reply to that, but he found himself staring at her long red hair. He'd never really realized just how beautiful she was.

"We better get them to their classes," Ginny said, swinging the little girl's hand.

"Right," Draco said, his mouth dry.

They passed each other and Draco could feel the tension in the air. He had almost rounded the corner when he heard a voice calling his name.

"Hey, Malfoy." Ginny had that burning, almost fierce, look in her eyes. "I was wondering if you could help me on that Astronomy assignment . . . since you've already done it."

If Draco had been walking, he thought he probably would've fallen flat on his face. Fortunately, though he had been leaning against the wall. Draco felt his face burn, but he said, "Sure. That'd be great."

Ginny smiled at him, that smile that Draco had often wished was directed at him. And now it was.
