Disclaimer: The characters doesn't belong to me.
I wrote this after reading the spoilers from google books (aka the first five chapters of MoA). This fic is kind of a future!fic when the war ended and so on.
-You didn't say anything- That's the first thing he tells her when they're finally alone, after Percy left the senate house to go to the movies with Annabeth. Holding hands and laughing about… enchiladas?
-What was I supposed to say? – Reyna asks, and by the way she does, like daring him to talk about it, to fully address the fact that he came back, after months, months, and didn't even give her five minutes to talk, but instead showed Piper around camp, freezes him a little.
(I've missed you, I was lonely, I was scared. Where were you?)
When he doesn't responds, but only looks at her, Reyna nods, a sad smile showing on her face before she says- I thought so, go back with her, Jason. -
-I've never meant to hurt you, Reyna. – He just wants her to understand, wants to make her realize that he still cares. That he always will.
(Sometimes, when he looks at her across the room during dinner time, laughing at something Dakota or Bobby said, or riding Scipio on the war games, he kind of misses it. Miss her, miss them.)
Reyna looks into his eyes, and the look she gives him is the one he always hated, the one she had the first days at Camp Jupiter: betrayed, lonely; with that fire in her eyes that demands you to stay away.
- Go back with her, Jason- Reyna repeats and, before she looks away, adds- She needs you, I don't.-
It's like they can hear it breaking, whatever it was what they've had.
And it breaks him too, to realize that she's letting him go.
(The thing is, he isn't ready to leave just yet)
